Agnew, owner of Agnew Plumbing in Newburgh, entered into rest February 14, 2005 at Cornwall Hospital. He was 86. The son of the late Harvey and May Harris Agnew, he was born March 6, 1918 in Newburgh. He was the husband of Alma Taylor Agnew whom he married in St. Patrick's Rectory in 1941. He was a member of the Powelton Club, Hudson River Masons Lodge and Master Plumbers Association. Survivors include his wife Alma at home; one son, John P. Nellie R. Calkin, a lifetime White Sulphur Springs resident, died on Saturday February 12, 2005 at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center, Liberty. She was 88. Nellie was the daughter of the late Fenelon and Romelia Segar Hill and was born on October 30, 1916 in White Sulphur Springs, N.Y. She was the widow of Robert "Dale" Calkin who died in 2001. Nellie was a retired Town Clerk for the Town of Liberty, a position she had for many years. She was a member of the White Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church and was a member and Past Matron for Revonah Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. Surviving her are 2 sons Robert Calkin and his wife Teddy of Cody, Wyoming and Neal Calkin and his wife Lucilla of Youngsville; 1 daughter, Katherine Traxler and her husband William of Stony Brook, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. The son of Francesco Castagna and Fortunata Mennella, he was born January 16, 1921 in Brooklyn. He was a past usher for Holy Name Church in Brooklyn and was a WW II Marine veteran who served in the Pacific Theater. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Marie T. She was 68. The daughter of the late James Chavers Sr. and Harriet Taylor, she was born December 11, 1936 in Dutchess JCT, Fishkill. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, Newburgh and a part of the Missionary, Senior Choir and Mass Choir at the church. Dorothy Mae Hamilton, a retired elementary school teacher and longtime area resident, died Wednesday, February 2, 2005 in Mesa, Ariz. She was 98. The daughter of the late John Middleton and Theresa Mae (Hooker) Middleton, she was born April 16, 1906 in Port Jervis. She was the widow of Lewis Hamilton whom she was married to for 62 years. She was a member of the Sanctuary of the East Valley Church, Mesa, Ariz. Music was a big part of Dorothy's life. She was very talented on the piano, playing for 90 years. Dorothy also enjoyed needlework and kept her mind active with acrostic puzzles. She taught grammar school in New Jersey for several years. She and her husband moved to Mesa, Ariz. in 1960. Survivors include Irene Hazelton and husband George of Port Jervis; one great-niece; and one great-nephew. Kortright, Milton Milton Kortright, a lifetime resident of Neversink, passed away on Sunday February 13, 2005 at Catskill Regional Medical Center. He was 71. The son of Earl and Bertha Muthig Kortright, he was born on Oct. 20, 1933 in Neverisnk, N.Y. Milton was a retired mechanic for the Department of Environmental Protection in Grahamsville, N.Y. He was a lifetime member of the Neversink Fire Dept.; a 50-year member of the Hunter Road Hunting Club and a member of the Neversink First Aide Squad. He was also an Army Veteran serving from 1950 to 1954 during the Korean Conflict. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Doris Misner Kortright at home; a daughter, Donna Donovan and her husband Nelson (Red) of Neversink; 3 brothers, Clifford Kortright and his wife Ruth of Parksville, Preston Kortright of Neversink and Sherman Kortright and his wife Violet of Neversink; 2 grandchildren, Patrick E. and Julianne E.
