Bell Sr., a retired New York City Firefighter of 30 years, a four year member of the New York City Police Department, and a 31 year area resident, died Wednesday February 16, 2005 at Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York City, surrounded by his loving family, after a long courageous battle with lung cancer. He was 63. The son of the late Frank and Marianne Koziol Bell, he was born January 1, 1942 in New York City. He was married to Jona M. Kenny Bell. Mr. Bell was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served during Vietnam. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. He was a professional landscaper for many years and was a member of the American Legion Post #488, Monroe, N.Y. He was also a member of Holy Rosary Church, Greenwood Lake, N.Y. A family statement reads: "He was a quiet man who always tried his best to do what was right. He was a very devoted, loving husband and father. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends." He is survived by his loving wife, Jona M. Bell of Monroe; son, Kenneth F. Bell, Jr. and his fianc‚, Kerry Bondy, of Greenwood Lake; daughter, Angela J. Sorrentino and her husband, John, of Greenwood Lake; his grandchildren: Johnny, Jena, Jeanine, Julia, and Kenny; brother, Robert Bell and his wife, Ada, of Pompano Beach, Fla.; sister, June Stalker and her husband, Louis, of Margate, Fla.; brother-in-law, J.J. The daughter of the late William and Mabel Moshier Fullerton, she was born September 8, 1917 in Newburgh, N.Y. She was a retired custodian at the Federal Courthouse in Phoenix, Ariz. Peggy leaves behind two sons, Robert Todd and his wife, Elke, of the Town of Newburgh and Richard Todd of Glendale, Ariz.; and one daughter, Lynn Coykendall of Phoenix, Ariz.; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and three cousins. Emrich, a retired superintendent for the Borough of Matamoras Municipal Water Authority, and lifelong resident of the area, died Thursday February 17, 2005, at St. Barnabas Hospital in Livingston, N.J. He was 83. The son of the late Edward Emrich and Esther Fickett Emrich, he was born March 6, 1921 in Freemont Center, N.Y. He is the widower of Vivian Bode Emrich. A member of the Hope Evangelical Free Church in Matamoras, Pa., he was also a member of the Port Jervis Lodge of Elks #645 B.P.O.E., Milford Lodge of Masons #344, the Matamoras Rod and Gun Club, Slate Stone Hunting Club, N.R.A. (National Rifle Assoc.), the Roosa-Fleming VFW Post #161 in Port Jervis, and the Pike County Republican Committee. He was also a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army Air Force and was a recipient of the Purple Heart Medal. He was a tail gunner with the 447th Bomber Squadron, flying 13 missions over Berlin. Izzo of Kingston, formerly of Sloatsburg, died peacefully on Thursday February 17, 2005, at Benedictine Hospital in Kingston, with her loving daughters at her side. Virginia was 83 years old. Mrs. Izzo was born on May 15, 1921 to Marie and Aca Dorsey Jarrard in Suffern, N.Y., where she attended local schools. Virginia married James Izzo of Sloatsburg on September 6, 1947. She was a devoted wife and mother but also had an accomplished business career, which included her position as the head bookkeeper for Rockland National Bank and the bookkeeper/receptionist for the law firm of Balsamo, Byrne & Cipriani, both in Suffern, N.Y. Mrs. Izzo, known as "Miss Ginny", taught religious instructions at St. Joan of Arc Church in Sloatsburg for 20 years and was a member of the Association of Marians of the Immaculate Conception in Stockbridge, Mass. Virginia is predeceased by her husband, James. She is survived by her two loving daughters and their families: Deborah Ann Izzo Jasinski and husband, John Jasinski, and her cherished grandson, James John Jasinski, of Olivebridge, N.Y., and Linda Izzo Heinrich and husband, David C. Heinrich, of Wesley Hills, N.Y. The daughter of Luther and Sarah McMann Tompkins, she was born August 3, 1921 in Montgomery, N.Y. Grace was a member of the Brick Reformed Church and the Walden Star, Chapter OES. She was the widow of Frank Pinckney. Survivors include her son, Frank L. Pinckney and his wife, Joyce, of Hurley; two daughters, Diana L. Smith and her husband, Stephen, of Wappingers Falls, N.Y., and Darlene J. Skibitsky, Samuel Samuel Skibitsky, born February 16, 1916 in Brooklyn, N.Y., died on February 17, 2005 in Dixfield, Maine. He is the son of Julia (Davidowsky) and William Skibitsky, who emigrated from the Ukraine in the early 1900's. He graduated from high school in 1933 and worked for over 30 years as a photo engraver. He joined the U.S. Army in 1941 and was part of the 7th Armored Division, serving under Gen. George Patton, and was part of the "Battle of the Bulge". He received the Bronze Star for Meritorious Service. He remained in the Army Reserves and was recalled for duty in 1950 as an intelligence analyst at Camp Edwards in Massachusetts. He later enlisted in the U.S. Naval Reserve for a period of 12 years, serving out of Fort Schuyler, N.Y. He was discharged in 1976 after 20 years of military service. Samuel was married to the former Katherine Reut in Yonkers, N.Y. in 1949. Katherine and Samuel lived in Hastings-On-Hudson, N.Y. until 1990, when they moved to Dixfield, Maine. Katherine died in February of 2002. Sam was active in the Swasey-Torrey Post 100 of the American Legion and the Rumford and Dixfield Senior Citizens groups. Although Russian Orthodox by heritage, he enjoyed attending the Dixfield Congregational Church. Sam was cared for in his home by his devoted grandson, Ben, and Ben's wife, Becky, for the last three years of his life, with the assistance of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice in the final weeks. He is survived by two sons, Eugene and his wife, Leslie Skibitsky of Dixfield, and William and his wife, Debi, of Sanford, N.C.; eight grandchildren: Benjamin and his wife, Rebecca Skibitsky, David Skibitsky, Scott Skibitsky, and Meredith Skibitsky, Tara and Robert Levinson, Timothy and Elaine Skibitsky, Jeff and Megan Skibitsky, and Lacey Skibitsky; four great-grandchildren: Evelyn and Samuel Skibitsky and Nicholas and Reed Levinson; and two brothers, Andrew Skibitsky and Anthony Skibitsky. She was 88. The last of eight children born to the late Charles Harris and Margaret Foster Harris, she was born August 21, 1916 in Harris, the town named after her family. Josephine had an undying love for her late husband, "Hank". She was also a devoted wife and mother, who was a true Christian and lifelong supporter of the United Methodist Church of Monticello. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her. Tunney, Josephine Josephine Tunney, Co-Owner of Tunney's Lamp Shop, Sparrowbush, NY and a life-long area resident, died at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis, NY on February 18, 2005. She was 81. The daughter of the late Natale Piccolo and Edna Crisi Piccolo, she was born April 17, 1923 in Highland Falls, NY. She was married to the late Joseph P. Tunney. Mrs. Tunney attended Most Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church and was a member of Sparrowbush Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Survivors include one son, John Tunney and wife Carol of Sparrowbush, NY; two daughters, Patricia Flannery and husband Michael of Monroe, NY and Margaret Tunney of Easton, PA; two sisters, Ann Ziffino of Port Jervis, NY and Mary Billman of Port Jervis, NY; one brother, Joseph Piccolo of Matamoras, PA; four grandchildren: Regina Peterson, Colleen Susta, Joseph Tunney and Colin Tunney; five great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was predeceased by two brothers, Thomas Ruff and Alfred Piccolo. A family statement read: "Josie loved working with antiques in and out of her business and conversing with others about them. She was a hard worker who had a terrific sense of humor. Above all was her love for her grandchildren and family. 'Love ya all the day." A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 21, 2005 at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Port Jervis, NY. Father Antony Ignaci will officiate. Weber of Narrowsburg, NY, a retired carpenter for JW Smith Construction in Yulan, NY and a lifelong resident of the area, died Friday, February 18, 2005 at home. He was 72. The son of the late Fred and Katie Gabel Weber, he was born April 16, 1932 in Callicoon, NY. He was married to Cheryl LaBarr Weber for 33 years. Norman was a Veteran of the US Army, having served in the Korean Conflict as an MP. Survivors include his wife, Cheryl at home; four daughters, Kelly Spero and her husband Bryan of Brookfield, CT, Karen Langel and her husband Christopher of Archbald, PA, Kathleen Weber and Michael Fuchs of Narrowsburg and Kasey Yakavonis and her husband Michael of Brookfield, CT; six grandchildren, Katie Fuchs, Matthew, Camryn and Courtney Spero and Alex and Austin Langel; two brothers: Walter Weber of Newburgh and Ralph Weber of Florida.
