Formerly of Cochecton, N.Y. Kent B. Baker, a former employee of the Buncombe County Sheriff's Department, and former resident of Cochecton, died February 22, 2005, at the Mission of St. Joseph's Hospital in Asheville, N.C. He was 48. He was the son of Betty Susen Baker and the late Owen B. Baker. Survivors include his wife, Aundi Barnes Baker, at home; his mother, Betty Susen Baker, of Cochecton; a daughter, Blair Baker of Fairview, N.C.; a son, Zeke Baker of Candler, N.C.; one sister, Candice Baker of Florida; one brother, Dennis Baker of Florida; three stepchildren: Emily and Nathan Barnes and Scotty Garner; two step-grandchildren, Gracie Baker and Noah Clevinger; unborn grandson, Zeke Baker II; and several nieces and nephews. Cordero, Edith Edith Cordero received the calling to be with her beloved husband, Cirilo, on February 24, 2005. Edith was born in Isabella, Puerto Rico on June 9, 1923 as the daughter to Luis and Candida Pratts. Edith and Cirilo moved to New York in 1947 where they became man and wife. They are the proud parents of three adoring children; Louis Manuel Cordero, Susan Rios (Cordero) and David Cordero. Edith was a loving Grandmother to two energetic and charming grandsons; Kenny and Danny Rios, the sons of Susan and her husband, Dr. Angel Rios. They make their home in Albany, N.Y. Edith was an admired and respected Mother-in-law to Peggy Cordero, the wife of Edith's youngest son, David Cordero. David and Peggy make their home in Warwick, N.Y. Edith's home was Bronx, N.Y. where she lived with her eldest son, Louis Cordero, who cared for her during good times as well as her times of medical needs. Also living with Edith was her sister and best friend, Iris Pratts. Edith is survived by another sister, Nadine Morales, and her husband Ralph Morales Sr. Their children, Edith's nieces and nephews, Norma Balise and her daughter, Brittany. Ralph Jr. and his wife Mee-Hee Morales and their son Ralph. Also, Rosemarie Morales, a niece. Edith is also survived by two brothers, Gombal and Antonio-Luis Pratts. They reside in Puerto Rico. Before Ediths' final battle with her health, she had survived two open heart surgeries. She had a strong will and a passion for life. She was most proud of her loving family, especially her children. This family wishes her eternal peace and everlasting love as she once again becomes one with her beloved husband, Cirilo. Dalesandro, a retired foreman for Bonded Film Storage in Fort Lee, N.J. and resident of the area for many years, died February 22, 2005 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis. He was 80. The son of Anthony Dalesandro and Caroline Romano Dalesandro, he was born May 18, 1924 in New York City. He was a member of St. Mary's R.C. Church and a veteran of WW II, US Army. Survivors include his wife, Josephine Vento Dalesandro, at home; one son, Vincent F. D'Alesandro of Alexandria, Va.; two sisters, Jeannette Bruno of Queens and Adele Faraj of Boston, Mass. Grayson, age 53, of Liberty, N.Y., died unexpectedly, Monday February 21, 2005, in New York City, N.Y. He was the husband of Nancy (Worden) Grayson. Mr. Grayson was born April 22, 1951 in the Bronx, N.Y., son of the late Stanley and Marie (Kunzer) Grayson. He attended school in the Bronx and lived in Brewster for many years before moving to Liberty two years ago. He was employed as an engineer with Metro North Railroad for the past 29 years. In addition to his wife Nancy, Mr. Grayson is survived by one daughter, Jenna Timpone of Kingston, N.Y.; three sons: Charles Grayson, Lance Grayson and Guy Grayson, all of Carmel, N.Y.; and one granddaughter, Jasmin Grayson of Newburgh. "Sideburn" Hogencamp, 59, of Charlotte, N.C., passed away Wednesday February 16, 2005, at his residence. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 26, at Williams Memorial Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Carol Hassell officiating. Interment will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in New Windsor, N.Y. at a later date. The son of the late John and Celia Hogencamp, he was born September 17, 1945 in Middletown, N.Y. Mr. Hogencamp graduated from Minisink Valley High School in New York. He married his wife, Diana, on Valentine's Day in 1990. Mr. Hogencamp was a truck driver for Yellow Freight from 1978 to 1995; Cardinal Freight as an owner/operator from 1995 to 2000; and Ryder Integrated Logistics from 2000 to 2005. Herman was a member of Road Carriers Local 707. Herman loved trucking and was happiest behind the wheel of an 18-wheeler. He knew the value of hard work and was an example to everyone of loyalty and dedication to his job. Mr. Hogencamp loved working in his yard and helping his neighbors. He also loved his dogs, George and Preshi. He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Diana L. Hogencamp; two sons, Eric Hogencamp and his wife, Lynnel, of Charlotte, N.C., and Jeremy Williams of Charlotte, N.C.; two daughters, Regina Sherman of Middletown, and Barbara Beresnoy and her husband, Larry, of Middletown; four grandsons: Eric, Alex, Cory and Dylan; two brothers, Doug Conklin and John Hogencamp; his half-brother, Robert Hansen; five sisters: Jeneva Ward, Rosie Chastine, Dorothy Conklin, Trudy Hyde, and Celia Ramsey; his half-sister, Barbara DeJesus; and many nieces and nephews. Leonard, a longtime area resident, died Wednesday February 23, 2005, at Orange Regional Medical Center, Horton Campus. Born in Brooklyn, Ruth was the daughter of the late Raymond and Geneveve Brown Crane. On June 2, 1974, Ruth married David Leonard in Pine Bush and after a short time living in Jacksonville, Fla. moved to Wurtsboro in 1990, and was a self-employed tailor, working out of her home. Ruth is survived by her husband David, at home; four children: Chris Fine and his wife, Donna, of Pine Bush, Danny Fine and his wife, Dena, of Middletown, Keith Leonard of Middletown and Jenna Maley of Wurtsboro; one sister, Patricia Filannino, of Orange City, Fla.; and three grandchildren: Kelly Fine of Pine Bush and Alyssa and Billy Maley of Wurtsboro. Mower, of Wallkill, N.Y., a homemaker and a lifetime resident of the area, died Wednesday, February 23, 2005 at home. She was 94. The daughter of the late Maurice Van Demark and Bertha Craft Van Demark, she was born January 29, 1911 in Balmville, town of Newburgh, N.Y. She was a member of the Wallkill Reformed Church was a former Sunday School Teacher and was in the Womans Guild at the Church. Evelyn had also worked at the Grand Union as a Meat Hostess in the Walden and Newburgh Stores. She was the widow of William J. Mower. Survivors include her daughter Florence Dubois of Staatsburg, N.Y.; son Marvin W. "Billy" Raab Jr., a lifelong resident of Newburgh, entered into rest on Thursday, February 24, 2005 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern. He was 54. Son of the late William C. Raab Sr. and Marion Gibb Rabb who survives, he was born June 1, 1951 in Newburgh. Billy graduated from Newburgh Free Academy and was a truck driver for Ziek's Trucking. A family statement reads, "Billy lived life to the fullest. He loved playing his guitar and writing songs. He had the 'gift of gab.' May he rest in peace. He will be sadly missed." Witzeman, a printer for various companies in New York and New Jersey, died Wednesday February 23, 2005 at the Hospice Center in Mid Valley Hospital in Peckville, Pa. He was 90. The son of Landreth and Charlotte Mattern Witzeman, he was born May 23, 1914 in Brooklyn, N.Y. John was a World War II Navy veteran and a member of the Church of the Most Precious Blood in Walden. He is the widower of Mae Harrington Witzeman. Survivors include his daughter, Charlotte Daily and her husband, Joseph, of Walden; brother, Robert Witzeman of Westwood, Mass.; daughter-in-law, Florence Witzeman of Hawley, Pa.; five granddaughters: Donna, Debra, Denise, Aubrey and Mary; and nieces and nephews.
