Martha C. Bryant, lifetime resident of Port Jefferson, died Monday January 10, 2005 in Palm Springs, Calif., with her family by her side. She was 86. The daughter of Herbert and Fanny Pfeiffer Curtis, she was born on November 8, 1918 in Bridgeport, Conn. Martha was co-founder of the Bryant Funeral Home, Inc. in Setauket, N.Y. The Bryant family spent many happy years coming upstate to both North Branch and Shinhopple. She loved her family, loved to laugh at jokes and to be teased by her sons, and was an avid sports enthusiast. She enjoyed driving, raising Shetland sheep dogs and most importantly, Martha was adored by all of her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Arthur W. Bryant, at home; three sons: Arthur Jr. and his wife, Barbara, of Cathedral City, Calif., Herbert C. and his wife, Kathy, of Livingston Manor, N.Y. and Frederick E. and his friend, Darlene Jyringi, of Setauket; eight grandchildren: Christine, Sarah, Melissa, Elizabeth, Herbie, Freddy, Bonnie and Adam; and two great-granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Alexdra. Katz, Goldie Mrs. Goldie Katz of Port Jervis, N.Y., died Wednesday January 12, 2005 at Schervier Pavilion, Warwick, N.Y. She was 101. She was born March 1, 1903 in Leeds, England, the daughter of the late Joseph and the late Leah Slotsofsky Orloff. Goldie was married to the late Morris Katz, who died November 16, 1961. She was a member of Temple Beth El, Port Jervis and past president and member of Sisterhood of the Temple Beth El. She was an active volunteer with the American Red Cross, Port Jervis. She was also a Gray Lady at Mercy Community Hospital, Port Jervis. Goldie also loved to play cards with her friends in Port Jervis. A family statement reads: "She was devoted to her family and friends. She lived life to the fullest and lived independently until September 2004." She was 55. Born April 25, 1949 in Beacon, she was the daughter of Ralph and Agnes Burke Ketcham. She was on the Board of Directors for Orange County Safe Homes; a Certified Hypnotherapist, Certified Acupuncture Detox Specialist, LCSW, ACSW, BCD and CASAC. She was an Avid New York Liberty Fan and gardener. A friend's statement reads: "Sunny Ketcham's commitment to her chosen field was inspired and propelled by a heart felt belief in the sanctity of the human spirit. Her sphere of influence extended far beyond her family, her friends and even her career. She intimately touched aspects of her community and individuals within the community in ways that will be remembered always." Mr. Walter Alfred Morgan, a longtime resident of Milton, NY and General Manager for Norco in Milton, died Tuesday, January 11, 2005 at home with his family by his side. He was 71. Walter and Joann retired to Kerhonkson and he worked part time for Crystal Run and also had a wood working business. He was born September 22, 1933 in Port Jervis, NY, the son of the late Walter and the late Mary Masker Morgan. Walter was married for 47 years to Joann Lane Morgan whom he married on April 28, 1957. He was a member of AARP. Walter served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was extremely proud of his grandson Walter who is currently serving in the U.S. Army in Iraq. A family statement read: "Walter was an outdoor s man. He loved fishing, hunting and had a hobby of wood working. He especially enjoyed sitting by a bonfire with his sons and grandchildren." He was 93. Ihor was born in Drohobych, Ukraine on November 7, 1911, the son of the late Stephan and Melania (Stelmachiw) Vytvytsky. Dr. Vytvytsky was a doctor of Sociology. After coming to the United States he worked as an actuarial for various insurance companies in Manhattan. He was very active in the Ukrainian Diaspora community. In the 60's he assisted his father, Dr. Stefan Vytvytsky, former President of Ukrainian National Republic in Exile, in his administrative duties. After his father's death he continued to be active in the Ukrainian Academic community. For most of his life he was a communicant of St. George's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Manhattan. More recently he was a communicant of Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church in Kerhonkson. Ihor was married for 60 years to Daria Zacerkowna Vytvytsky, whom he married in 1944. Surviving him are his wife, Daria, at home; his daughter, Dr. Maria Dienhart, of Sudbury, Mass.; his son, Andrew Vytvytsky, of Cambridge, Mass; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Saturday at 9:30 AM at H.B. Humiston Funeral Home, 30 Forty Second St., Kerhonkson, N.Y. The Holy Sacrifice of the Devine Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 AM in Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church, Kerhonkson, with the Rev. Volodymyr Piso officiating. The son of John Wilson and Nellie Wallace Wilson, he was born October 19, 1920 in the Town of Mt. Hope, NY. He was married to Roberta Brundage Wilson. Survivors include his wife Roberta Wilson at home in Mt. Hope, NY; daughter, Catherine Knauff of New Field, NY; two sons: Charles E. Wilson of Otisville, NY and Terry Wilson of Mt. Hope, NY; five grandchildren, four great grandchildren; one sister, Elizabeth Clark of New Jersey and numerous nieces and nephews. At Charles' request, no services will be held.
