Daughter of the late Nellie and George Maxwell, she was born August 5, 1916 in Greenoch, Scotland. She was married to the late Joseph H. Conklin. She is survived by her four children and their spouses: Joseph Conklin and his wife, Vicki, of Austin, Texas, Nessie Ellish and her husband, Alan, of Pine Bush, Mary Hanmore and her husband, Rick, of Newburgh, and Bill Conklin and his wife, Eileen, of Raleigh, N.C.; five grandchildren: Laura and Max Conklin, of Austin, Texas, Matthew Ellish of Newburgh, N.Y., Katie Crane and her husband, Jesse Crane, of Rochester, N.Y. and Scott Conklin of Raleigh, N.C.; and one great-grandson, Owen Crane of Rochester, N.Y. She was predeceased by her sister, Mary Eager. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Orange County. Cooper, William Frank William Frank Cooper, 81, joined his wife, Dorothy in eternal rest on Sunday, January 30, 2005 at the home of his son, William in Westtown, NY following a short illness. Mr. Cooper was born in Westtown February 17, 1923 to Frank L. and Mabel (Wilson) Cooper. He was a lifelong resident of Westtown. Mr. Cooper was a Loom Fixer at American Silk Label in Unionville, NY for 37 years. He was a U.S. Army WWII Veteran and a member of the George Smith American Legion Post 1607 of Unionville, NY, where he was a past Commander and Chaplain. Mr. Cooper was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Westtown for 75 years. He had served as the churches Sunday School Superintendent. Mr. Cooper is remembered by his family as a loving and supportive father and grandfather as well as an avid and devoted sports fan of his granddaughters, and in the past 24 years, his son's Vernon Twp. High School wrestling team. Mr. Cooper was predeceased by his wife Dorothy L. Cooper, 1997, and is survived by one son, William S. and his wife Kathy of Westtown, NY; two daughters: Candace Rombousek and her husband Robert of Matamoras, PA and Melissa Hart and her husband Fred of Millrift, PA; one sister, Etta Ford Ladato of Florida, one brother, Paul Cooper of Florida; 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, one great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. French, a longtime area resident, died Friday January 28, 2005, at Schervier Pavilion in Warwick. She was 91. The daughter of the late Fernando and Maria Pereira Neves, she was born January 17, 1914 in New Bedford, Mass. Ernestine is survived by one son, John French, Jr. of Florida; three grandchildren: Joanna Cooper, John French III, and Jennie Robb; and four nieces: Lynda Rogers-Seeley, Sheryl Rankey, Tricia Moschitta, and Ester Rivers. She was predeceased by her loving husband, John French, in 1989, and one sister, Ilda Finger. Furchak Sr., Edward John Edward John Furchak Sr. of Monticello, passed away at Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris, Saturday January 29, 2005, after a long illness. He was 81. He was a 60 year resident of Monticello, and was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on March 15, 1923 to the late Stephen and Mary Betsa Furchak. He was married to Pauline Solomon in Monticello on November 10,1946. As a young man he enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was in the invasion of Saipan, where he operated a Heightfinder for anti-aircraft batteries. After the war he worked for Block and Shulman Hardware in Monticello, and then for the Concord Hotel for more than 25 years. He retired from the Sullivan County Courthouse where he served as a court attendant when his health began to fail. He was a member of St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church in Monticello, where he had taken up the offering on Sundays for many years. He was a member of the Father Justin Lyons Council #550 Knights of Columbus, Ruddick-Trowbridge American Legion Post #73, Monticello Exempt Fireman's Association, and a 57 year member of the Monticello Fire Department, which he joined on June 7,1948, and served as a First Assistant Chief. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Pauline, at home; one son, Edward John Furchak Jr. and his wife, Carol, of Monticello; one daughter, Sharon Renee Thomas and her husband, Donald, of Old Forge, Pa.; two sisters, Mary Furchak of Newburgh, and Theresa Krebs and her husband, Martin, of Staten Island; two grandchildren, Jennifer Sarah Shamah and her husband, Al, of Rock Hill, and Jason Paull Furchak and his wife, January, of Clinton, Maine; two great-granddaughters, who were the light of his life, Sarah Isabelle Shamah, and Jorja Pauline Furchak; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers: Joseph, Stephen, John and George; and two sisters, Irene Bruce and Annie Dooley. Lennon, Helen Ursula Tenbroeck (Sue) Helen Ursula TenBroeck Lennon died in Annapolis, Md. on January 24, 2005 after a brief illness. Sue Lennon was born on December 3, 1914 in New Windsor, N.Y. She was one of fourteen children born to Claire Newell Fortney and Walter Tryon Livingston TenBroeck. Sue attended Newburgh Free Academy before marrying Dale E. Lennon of Walden, N.Y. They had four sons Dale, Norman Walter & Ralph before moving to Carmen, N.Y. and later to Schenectady where she lived until 2002 when she moved to Annapolis, Md. to be near one of her sons. She was a life-time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Schenectady, N.Y. where she served in many capacities including Sunday School Secretary, treasurer, and as a deaconess. Sue's favorite Bible verse was "For Me to live is Christ, to die is gain." Sue Lennon never wavered in her faith, and set a standard for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Sue Lennon is survived by her four sons Dale, Norman, Walter & Ralph and their wives; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. on February 6, 2005 at the First Presbyterian Church of Schenectady, N.Y. Survivors include his wife, Deanna Mary Edwards Purdy, at home; his parents, Delancy S. and Pamela Williams Purdy, of Plattekill; maternal grandmother, Bertha Williams of Newburgh; his sisters: Terriann Wyman and husband, Trevor S., of Daytona, Fla., Jacklyn Purdy and her fianc‚e, William Simmons, of Plattekill, Kristin Purdy and her companion, Miguel, of Plattekill; dear friends: Christina Wegyant of California, the Blaustein Family, Alfredo Pimentel of Wallkill, Malisa Canosa of Plattekill, and Andrew Charles Pierce of New Jersey; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and great cousins. Schnoor Sr., 69, of Milford, PA, passed away Friday, January 28, 2005 at home. He was a retired Project Manager for Western Union, Upper Saddle River, NJ. He was a U.S. Marine Corp Korean War Veteran. The son of the late Rudolph and Rose (Yurasitis) Schnoor he was born on May 23, 1935 in Williamsburg, NY. He was married to Gail McPartland Schnoor. Syperda, of Greenwood Lake, a 40-year resident of the area, formerly of Wantagh, N.J., died Monday, January 24, 2005 at home. She was 68. The daughter of George and Elsie Kent Groover, she was born January 25, 1936 in Wantagh Township, Sussex, N.J. She was the widow of Gerlof Syperda, who predeceased her in 1983. Survivors include her daughter, Suzanne Baker and her husband Joseph; her grandchildren, Joseph, Christopher and Jacob; her brother and sisters, Kenneth Kent, Marion South and Dorothy Yarashes; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers and sister, George Groover, William Groover, Alfred Groover, John Groover and Janet Babcock. Thorn, Sr. and Vera A Crowe Thorn, he was born February 9, 1936 in Middletown, N.Y. James was an avid train enthusiast and member of te N.Y.O. & W National Railway Historical Society, who lived the last nine months of his life in Springfield, Mo. He is survived by five daughters: Joanne Thorn of Seattle, Wash., Christine Thorn and her husband, Dr. Randy Paffenroth, of Pasadena, Calif., Karin Phillips and her husband, Rod, of Springfield, Mo., Kathleen Bedford and her husband, Herb, of Plantation, Fla., and Brenda Thorn of Springfield, Mo.; two sons, Ronald Thorn and James Thorn, both of Middletown; one brother, Elwood Thorn, Jr. and his wife, Louise, of Poughkeepsie; 13 grandchildren, one great-grandson, and several nieces. He was predeceased by his wives, Catherine Wood Thorn and Madeleine Wood Thorn; and one sister, Elsie Eulner.
