He was 88. Harold was born December 24, 1916 in Linden, N.J. to Victor and Mary (Thomas) Brazilian. He was the founder and original owner of Bud's Nyack Taxi. After his retirement his garden and tomato plants were his pride and joy. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Dorothy; daughters, June and her husband, John McGullicuddy, of Wappingers Falls, N.Y., Joyce Haring and her companion, Hank Hudson, of Cochecton, N.Y., Carol and her husband, Bill Draudt, of Narrowsburg, N.Y., and Nancy and her husband, Frank Doyle, of Bellvue, Neb.; and his son, Robert and his fianc‚e, Frieda, of Englewood, Fla. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and his special friend, Buddy. He will be sadly missed by all his family. Mary Elizabeth Gallagher, entered into eternal rest on July 1, 2005. She was truly a remarkable woman. Her faith was the source of her strength and her family, the benefactors of her love. Her devoted husband of 62 years, Eugene Sr., predeceased her in 1997. Elizabeth was born December 15, 1907 in Manhattan to Henry and Mary Donovan Muldoon. She attended Resurrection Church as a child, and married in Holy Spirit Church, the Bronx at St. Theresa's Church, Briarcliff Manor, N.Y. She was active in many ministries. Elizabeth was a member of the Ossining and Bedford Hills Women's Clubs where she had many friends. Elizabeth received the Child of Mary Sodality Medal. She was also initiated into the Ladies of the Holy Sepulchre. She prayed the Rosary often and was devoted to the Blessed Mother. Elizabeth spent every summer in Sullivan County, N.Y., where her Irish ancestors had settled. Her greatest joy was to come home to "The Maples" in Mongaup Valley where she welcomed her growing family and countless friends. Elizabeth was predeceased by her brother, Henry Muldoon; her sister Anne (Thiele) and her daughter-in-law, Kathleen Gallagher. She is survived by her loving children: Mary (Deacon Larry) Battersby and Eugene (Kathleen) Gallagher; nine cherished grandchildren; and seven precious great-grandchildren. The son of the late John R. Herries and Winifred North Herries, he was born September 22, 1930 in Brooklyn, N.Y. After graduating from high school in 1948, he worked for Elmer T. Hebert in NYC, then joined Charles G. Smith Assoc. in 1962 in Newburgh. He was credentialed as a Hardware Consultant in 1962. He was a former member of the Board of Directors of the Hudson Valley Construction Contractors Assoc., former member of the Board of Directors of the NY Society of Hardware Consultants and a member of the Door and Hardware Institute. He was the widower of Marilyn McAvoy Herries. Survivors include his son John P. Herries and his wife Patricia of Springfield, Va.; daughter Margaret M. Gillespie and her husband Patrick of Danville, NH; son Peter M. Herries and his wife Ellen of Walden; daughter Elizabeth G. Herries and her husband Donald Aibel of Alpine, NJ; son Edward M. Keasel, Eleanor Harriet Crotty Eleanor Harriet Crotty Keasel, a lifelong area resident, died Saturday July 2, 2005 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Arden Hill Campus. She was 89 years old. The daughter of the late Archie H. and Katherine Schoeweiss Crotty, she was born April 18, 1916 in Crystal Run, Town of Wallkill, at the family home on what is now known as Crotty Road. At the time of her birth, Crystal Run was merely a collection of small businesses: a creamery, feed store, and post office, just west of Scotchtown Turnpike on the Ontario and Western Railroad (O&W), surrounded by numerous dairy farms. The Crotty children attended grades one through eight in a one-room school near their home and later attended schools in Middletown and Goshen. Eleanor and her husband, Stanley Philip Keasel, were involved in a variety of trucking ventures, including working as a United States Mail Contractor during their almost 54 years of marriage. After his death in 1991, "mother" and her daughter, Lynn Busse, continued to operate a thrift shop known as One Way Etc., on Dolson Avenue in Middletown, that they had started 16 years earlier. The business continued to operate through 2003. She also worked at Middletown Psychiatric Center for many years. Eleanor is survived by two sons, Stanley Keasel and his wife, Jill, of Eldersburg, Md., and Don Keasel and his wife, Judy, of Kettering, Ohio; one daughter, Lynn Busse and her husband, Tom, of Middletown; five grandchildren: Lori Keasel of McLean, Va., Eric Keasel of Alexandria, Va., Katherine Busse Bickerdyke and her husband, Cris, of Middletown, Thomas Busse and his wife, Laura, of Wallkill, and Scott Keasel and his wife, Jill, of Columbus, Ohio; five great-grandchildren: Carolyn Milner, Elizabeth Busse, Hannah Milner, Sarah Busse, and Erin Bickerdyke. She was predeceased by three brothers: Alton Crotty, Claude Crotty, and Norman Crotty; one sister, Helen Hunt; and one grandson, John Patrick Keasel. Lohmann, a 37-year resident of Monroe, died Saturday July 2, 2005 in Nyack Hospital, Nyack, N.Y. She was 67. The daughter of John Sheehan and Marie Morehead Sheehan, she was born February 12, 1938 in Queens, N.Y. Mrs. Lohmann was a Registered Nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, N.Y. A family statement reads: "She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and nurse." She is survived by her husband, Charles W. Lohmann, at home; a son, Chuck Lohmann and wife, Vicki, of Boca Raton, Fla.; a daughter, Laura M. Helm of Montgomery; brother, Jack Sheehan of New York, N.Y.; brother-in-law, Ken Lohmann and wife, Jean, of Boulder, Colo.; sister-in-law, Virginia Nodthurft and husband, Phil, of Temple Terrace, Fla.; three grandchildren: Travis Helm, and Alyssa and Brett Lohmann; and one nephew, Phillip Nodthurft of Temple Terrace, Fla. Oppelt of Port Jervis, a lifelong resident of the area, died Saturday July 2, 2005. She was 66. She was born August 11, 1938 in Cuddebackville, N.Y., the daughter of the late Fred C. and the late Carrie Conklin. She was the widow of Arthur G. Oppelt, Sr. He died February 12, 2000. She was a member of Drew United Methodist Church; Howard Wheat Engine Co. No. 4 Ladies Auxiliary; and A.A.R.P. She had been employed at Novelty Slipper Co.; Kolmar Labs; and Andmore Sportswear. A loving and caring person, Elsie was known for thinking of everyone else before herself. She will be sadly missed by her family and many friends. She is survived by her companion, Harry Oppelt of Port Jervis; a son, Arthur G. Published in the Times Herald-Record on 7/4/2005. Sweeney, Marjorie W. Marjorie W. Sweeney of Middletown, died July 1, 2005 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Horton Campus. She was 78. Marjorie was born March 7, 1927 in Goshen, N.Y. to Frank and Eleanor Durland Wittman. She worked for the Times Herald Record for 32 years. Mom lived life to the fullest. She always had a smile on her face, a song in her heart, and a dance in her step. She adored traveling the world with her friends and spent as much time as she could with her children on the west coast, as with her kids here on the east coast. Her grandchildren looked forward to her visits and loved her deeply. She was fondly known as "G-G" by her great-granddaughters and mom was thrilled to hear that another great-grandbaby is on the way. Mom was a hip granny who delighted in learning to use the computer and had 64 contacts listed on her cell phone. Wherever she was, people were drawn to her and she had a way of making each individual feel special. Her spunky spirit will be missed as she made her final journey with the angels into Heaven. Marjorie was predeceased by her husband, John James Sweeney, Jr. in 1995. She is survived by her five children: daughter, Sharon Ruppert and husband, Larry, of Rock Hill, N.Y., their son, Michael Ruppert, and his daughter, Kaylin, their daughter, Amy Spalt and husband, Doug; her son, Michael Sweeney of Middletown, his daughter, Vanessa Sweeney and her companion, Lester, and their daughter, Ruby, and his son, Matthew Sweeney; her daughter, Kathie Sweeney of Placentia, Calif. and her children, Stephanie and Craig Draude; her daughter, Peggy Sweeney of Middletown, and her companion, Greg Ellis; and her son, Chuck Sweeney of Riverside, Calif., his wife, Dawn, and their children: Ryan, Kevin, Kyle and Brett Sweeney. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, June Wittman of Middletown; and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother, Robert Wittman. Marjorie was a member of Mulberry House Senior Center, volunteering 15 years through the Retired Senior Voluntary Program (R.S.V.P.); Middletown Golden Age Seniors; Happy Seniors Club; and participated in many card games; enjoyed Mah Jongg; and was a member of Canasta Group; Volunteer Women's Auxiliary at Horton Medical Center; was a line dance instructor; a past member of the River to River Cloggers; and was an avid participant in the Orange County Senior Games.
