Shirley M. Barrett, a lifetime area resident, died Saturday July 2, 2005 at Elant in Newburgh. She was 77 years old. The daughter of the late Edward and Catherine Thompson McCoy, she was born November 1, 1927 in Brooklyn, N.Y. Our mother was a warm loving compassionate and giving woman. She was a spiritual woman. She's in heaven with her husband, Ed, celebrating their 59th wedding anniversary on July 10th. For many years she was a "domestic goddess". After raising six children, she went to college and earned her degree. She worked as an administrative assistant to the commissioner of Human Rights Commission of Rockland County, N.Y. Our mom was a gift to us all. We love her and we'll miss her. Shirley is survived by six beloved children: Eileen Eriksen and her husband, Frank, of New City, N.Y.; Edward Barrett and his wife, Eileen, of Florida; Susan Bacheller and her husband, Ted, of Montgomery; Elizabeth "Betty" Kolka and her husband, Michael, of Middletown; Michael Barrett and his wife, Patty, of Florida; and Mary Patterson and her husband, Bruce, of Virginia Beach, Va.; three sisters: Marion Dowd of Matawan, N.J., Elaine McPartland of Princeton, N.J., and Kathleen Sullivan and her husband, George, of Far Rockaway, N.Y.; 16 grandchildren and their spouses: Edward, Michael, Jessica M., Melissa, Jessica, Erik, Frank, Bridget, Liz, Michael, Rebecca, Katie, Megan, Tara, Erin, and Stephen; many great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. WANDA DAVIDOWSKY Newburgh, N.Y. Wanda Davidowsky, of Newburgh, passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2005 at Wingate at Ulster, Highland. She was 84. Daughter of the late Zigmond and Mary Bednarski, she was born July 15, 1920 in New York City. She was married to William Davidowsky, who predeceased her in November of 1979. Wanda was the first female manager for the Army Exchange at the United States Military Academy at West Point and Stewart Air Base. She was also the former owner of Lakeside Dairy. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Lake Chapel, Newburgh. Survivors include her son, William Davidowsky and his wife Debra of Connecticut; her daughter, Carole Davidowsky and her husband Stephen Cackowski of Newburgh; her grandsons, William Davidowsky III and Philip Davidowsky, both of Connecticut; and several nieces and nephews. Bonesteel, Ruth Brunton Formerly of Newburgh, N.Y. Mrs. Ruth Brunton Bonesteel, 62, of Valdese, N.C., died Sunday July 3, 2005 at her residence after a period of declining health. Mrs. Bonesteel was born March 22, 1943 in Newburgh, N.Y. to the late William and Ruth Whitman Brunton. She was of the Presbyterian faith and retired with over 30 years of service as a finance officer with both the VA Medical Center at Canandaigua, N.Y. and West Point, N.Y. Military Academy. Mrs. Bonesteel was a member of the Newburgh, N.Y. Chapter of Eastern Star, Grand Order of the Constellation, and served as Grand Advisor. Survivors include her husband, Donald W. Bonesteel, at home; two sons, Andrew Bonesteel and wife, Shari, of Valdese, N.C., and David Bonesteel and wife, Alisa, of Atlanta, Ga.; one brother, William W. Brunton and wife, Dorothy, of Lemon Grove, Calif.; one sister, Beverly Goerke and husband, John, of Kingston, N.Y.; and aunt and uncle, Ruth and Robert Brunton, of Monroe. Dussault, a 7-year resident of Hopewell Junction and formerly of Bloomingburg, died July 3, 2005 at Wingate at St. Francis in Beacon, N.Y. She was 94. The daughter of Octave Dussault and Marie Ann Boucher, she was born January 19, 1911 in Fall River, Mass. For 42 years Juliette worked as a dispatcher for the New York Telephone Company in New Rochelle, until her retirement in 1973. She was a member of St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction and belonged to the Telephone Pioneers of America and East Fishkill Senior Citizens. She is survived by two brothers, Albert Dussault and his wife, Mary, of Hopewell Junction, and Francis Dussault and his wife, Dorothy, of Mt. Vernon; and one sister, Blanche Soderlund and her husband, Dick, of Clearwater, Fla. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Gaer, formerly of Port Jervis, passed away peacefully on Saturday July 2, 2005, in Pflugerville, Texas, a neighboring suburb of Austin, Texas. She was 79 years old. Lillian was born in Union City, N.J. on August 6, 1925, to Jacob J. and Sophie Reidtler Wind. A homemaker, she was a member of the Deerpark Reformed Church in Port Jervis; a member of Port Jervis Senior Citizens; and the National A.A.R.P. She was the widow of George E. Hartwell. Herries, of Walden, President of Charles G. Smith Assoc. Inc., died June 28, 2005 in Goshen. He was 74. The son of the late John R. Herries and Winifred North Herries, he was born September 22, 1930 in Brooklyn, N.Y. After graduating from high school in 1948, he worked for Elmer T. Hebert in NYC, then joined Charles G. Smith Assoc. in 1962 in Newburgh. He was credentialed as a Hardware Consultant in 1962. He was a former member of the Board of Directors of the Hudson Valley Construction Contractors Assoc., former member of the Board of Directors of the NY Society of Hardware Consultants and a member of the Door and Hardware Institute. He was the widower of Marilyn McAvoy Herries. Survivors include his son John P. Herries and his wife Patricia of Springfield, Va.; daughter Margaret M. Gillespie and her husband Patrick of Danville, NH; son Peter M. Herries and his wife Ellen of Walden; daughter Elizabeth G. Herries and her husband Donald Aibel of Alpine, NJ; son Edward M. The daughter of Frank Jones and Ethel Blount Jones, she was born October 14, 1927 in New York, N.Y. She was a retired medical assistant and x-ray technician, having worked a combined 28 years with Dr. Jacob Schloss, then Dr. Augusto Rosas in Middletown, N.Y. She attended the Bullville Methodist Church; was a graduate of Ellenville High School; and graduated from Paine Hall as medical assistant and x-ray technician. She was a member of Medical Assistants Association; Town of Wallkill Senior Citizens; and was always active in school activities while her children were growing up. Her husband, Russell quotes, "She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandma. Ethel was my sweetheart, loving wife and best friend." Quinlan, Patricia was born on July 12, 1942 in New York, N.Y. In September 17, 1966, Patricia married Tom Matthews at St. Ann's Church in Fairlawn, N.J. Following the death of her mother-in-law, Patricia raised her husband's younger brother and three sisters. In 1982, she, along with her family, moved to Slate Hill from Bellrose, N.Y., was named a "Good Neighbor" in 1995 by the Times Herald Record; was a parishioner of Holy Cross Catholic Church and a volunteer at Meals on Wheels in Middletown. He was a caring and deeply compassionate person and will be missed. He is survived by his father, Vincent M. The son of Stanley and Mary Samluk Wisnewski, he was born February 4, 1918 in Elmhurst, N.Y. John was a retired painter for the NYC Board of Education in New York City. He was a World War II Army Air Force veteran. He served from 1941-1945 and achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. Survivors include a son, Johnnie Wisnewski of Whitefish, Mont.; two daughters, Ann Shaw and her husband, Richard, of Forestburgh, and Clare Lemke and her husband, Tom, of Livingston, Mont.; two brothers, Louie Wisnewski and his wife, Madeline, of Bayville, N.Y., and Philip Wisnewski and his wife, Dorothy, of Narragansett, R.I.; one sister, Virginia "Jean" Maier, and her husband, Harry, of Brewster, N.Y.; and five grandchildren: Kenneth and Janessa Shaw, Daniel and Mark Lemke and Philip Wisnewski.
