Elizabeth B. Allen, a former secretary for the Pathologist at Waterbury, CT Hospital, and longtime resident of the area, died Sunday, July 10, 2005 at the Blue Haven Adult Home in Walker Valley. She was 94. The daughter of the late Sherwood M. Allen and Susie A. Osborn Allen, she was born June 17, 1911 in Bethlehem, CT. Elizabeth was a graduate of the Woodbury High School and attended Bay Path College in Mass. She was one of the oldest surviving members of the First Church of Bethlehem, CT of which she held several offices and was part of numerous committees. She was also a 70-year member of the Bethlehem Grange #121 and was a member of the Evergreen Club of the Waterbury Hospital. She is survived by her nephews: Sherwood W. Allen & his wife Toyo and S. Paul Allen & his companion Dottie, all of Bloomingburg; a niece, Barbara Roe and her husband Joe, of Bloomingburg; many great-nieces and nephews; and a dear friend, Louise Johnson of Bethlehem, CT. She was predeceased by her brother, Sherwood O. Allen and his wife Mabelle, as well as her niece, Elizabeth "Betty" Cramer. Alonge, Michael Michael Alonge, a longtime area resident of Newburgh, a self-employed painter, died July 10, 2005 at Castle Point VA Hospital in Castle Point, N.Y. He was 86. Son of the late Andrew Alonge and the late Josephine Dina, he was born July 5, 1919 in Manhattan, N.Y. Mr. Alonge was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Marlboro; a life member of Middlehope Fire Department; and a World War II U.S. Army veteran of the European Theatre. He is survived by his wife, Rose Cotena Alonge; one son, Andrew Alonge and wife, Gail, of Homestead, Fla.; two daughters, Antoinette Alonge of Manning, S.C., and Michele Wygant and husband, Gary, of Mt. Vision, N.Y.; one sister, Nancy LoBianco of Staten Island, N.Y.; five grandsons: John McGrath and Michael McGrath, both of Orlando, Fla., Bert McGrath of South Dakota, Jordan Alonge of Homestead, Fla., and Casey Wygant of Mt. Caldiero, Frank Frank Caldiero, a retired carpenter with the New York City District Council of Carpenters, died July 9, 2005 at Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris, N.Y., with his daughters by his side. He was 76. The son of Fortunato and Vita Melici Caldiero, he was born January 19, 1929 in Manhattan, N.Y. He was a member of Holy Cross Church in Callicoon; the Knights of Columbus Council #4448 in Callicoon; and the Hortonville Fire Department. He was also a U.S. Navy veteran. He was the widower of Marilyn Ruth Pelton. He is survived by his children: Sharon Caldiero Schroeder of Callicoon, Lisa Caldiero of Wurtsboro, Joanne Caldiero of Walden, Marilyn Caldiero Martinucci and her husband, John, of Manhassett Hills, N.Y., and Tricia Caldiero of Lake Louise Marie, N.Y. Doherty attended the Pratt Institute for the Arts in Brooklyn and later worked for the Singer Sewing Machine Company in Manhattan prior to her marriage in St. Brigid's R.C. Doss, of Port Jervis, a retired Police Sergeant with the Port Jervis Police Dept. and lifetime resident of Port Jervis, died Monday, July 11, 2005 at Bon Secours Community Hospital. He was 65. He was born October 31, 1939 in Port Jervis, the son of the late Harold J. and the late Florence Keller Doss. He was a member, active Trustee and Worship Leader at the Drew United Methodist Church; member and past Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge No. 645; member and treasurer of the Lumberland Lions Club; member of the Port Jervis Police Benevolent Association, Retired Police Association of the State of New York and Interstate Law Enforcement Assoc. He was a former Port Jervis Third Ward Councilman and presently served on the Orange County Water Authority. He had served as a director of both the Little League and the Port Jervis Pop Warner and was a coach of the Giants; and later was a Pop Warner referee and Little League Umpire. He was also an Army veteran and served in the Military Police. Surviving are his wife, Joan M. Kolvenbach Doss at home; two sons: Scott D. Doss & his wife, Heidi of Sparrowbush, Tracy L. Maffei, Eleanor Eleanor Maffei, of Monroe, a housewife and a 30-year resident of the area, died Monday July 11, 2005 at Orange County Residential Health Care Facility, Goshen, N.Y. She was 76 years of age. The daughter of the late Gerhardt and Irma Rusch, she was born on April 9, 1929 in New York City, N.Y. Eleanor was a longtime member of Sacred Heart R.C. Church, Monroe, N.Y. Eleanor was the widow of Joseph Maffei who died on January 12, 2002. Eleanor was a devoted wife, loving mother and adoring grandmother; she will be missed by her family. Survivors include her daughter Rose-Ellen Cupo and her husband James of Monroe and her son Vito William Maffei and his wife Debra of Monroe. Eleanor is also survived by her grandchildren Andrew, Scott, Christopher and Alexis, along with numerous nieces and nephews. "Joe" Osoba died peacefully at Vassar Brothers Medical Center on Sunday, July 10, 2005. The son of Frank and Agnes Osoba, Joe was born on March 10, 1927 in Beacon, N.Y. He graduated from Beacon High School and joined the US Army in June 1945. Upon his return home in 1947, Joe attended St. John's University while also working at the Beacon Post Office. On January 30, 1949, Joe made the best decision of his life and married the former Jean Ann Bump who survives at home in Fishkill. Joe and Jean have shared their 56 years together with their three children and spouses, Francena J. and Justin Resnick, Nancy E. and Mark Giordano, and Vincent J. and Charlanne Edmonds Osoba. Joe was an avid reader, a skilled chef who loved to put on an old fashioned New England clambake, and an impassioned Yankee and Giants fan. He loved to entertain family and friends with his great sense of humor. After 37 years, Joe retired from the US Postal Service and devoted much of his available time volunteering. An active member of the Beacon Elk's Club, he served as its treasurer for 17 years and authored the Club's newsletter, "The Bugle." Castle Point Veterans Hospital was an important part of Joe's life, both as a patient and as a volunteer where he logged over 1,000 hours of committed service for his fellow veterans. During several years while residing in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, Joe also volunteered at Beebe Hospital in Lewes. He was honored by Delaware's Governor with an Outstanding Volunteer Award. Joe was a member of the Beacon Historical Society. "Pepop" will be missed by his six grandchildren, Renee Giordano Salese, Mark Giordano, Jilian and Megan Stombock and Brad and Corey Osoba and by his "little doggie" Butterscotch. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Lenora and Bill Gilbert and his nieces and nephews. Pastenkos, Noreen Noreen Pastenkos, of Greenwood Lake, died Sunday July 10, 2005 due to severe complications at St. Anthony's Hospital in Warwick, N.Y. She was born in Suffern, N.Y. to Thomas B. Smith and Nellie R. Duffy also of Suffern. Noreen graduated from Holy Name Nursing School, New Jersey and worked at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern. After being unfortunately sidelined from the nursing profession, due to an illness, she later went on to Columbia University School of Nursing to receive a Master's Degree as an adult Nurse Practitioner. She started and maintained a practice in Manhattan with Dr. Jorge Lopez-Ovejero, M.D. until the time of her death. Mrs. Pastenkos is survived by her devoted husband Michael A. Pastenkos, also of Greenwood Lake; her two daughters Adrianna Alexis Sigillo and her husband Joseph, and Nora Ann Pastenkos. In addition she is survived by her two grandchildren Alexis Gabrielle and James Michael Sigillo; her mother Nellie R. Smith of Suffern; and two brothers Thomas B. The son of August Schmidt and Ethel Doyle Schmidt, he was born October 27, 1936 in Brooklyn. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church in Goshen; was a Marine Corp. He was 80 years old. The son of the late Walter and Rose E. Durning Sullivan, he was born on April 27, 1925 in New York City. A native to New York City, James was a graduate of Cornell Medical College; professor of physiology at Cornell and New York University School of Medicine. James also proudly served his country in the United States Marines during WW II. He is survived by his wife, Grace at home; one son, James of Circleville; two daughters, Elizabeth of Middletown and Barbara of New York City; as well as four grandchildren. Son of the late James White and Mary Thomas White, he was born December 3, 1942 in Mecklenburg County, N.C. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Joyce Marie White, of Newburgh; three sons: Thomas J. White Jr. of Ft. Polk, La., Anthony White of Ft.
