He was 89. The son of the late Zigmund and Sarah Finkelstein Brizel, he was born April 14, 1916 in Bronx, N.Y. Milton was a Lieutenant in the United States Army, and served his country in both World War II and the Korean Conflict. He earned his Bachelor's Degree at Penn State and his Master's Degree at Columbia, and became a math teacher, teaching in the Fallsburg High School, and later became one of the first professors at Sullivan County Community College when it opened, where he retired in 1981. He was a member of the N.Y.S. Retired Teacher's Association; past member of the Board of Education of Fallsburg Central School; past member of the Board of trustees of S.C.C.C.; the American Association University of Professors; the So. Fallsburg Hebrew Association; the American Legion; B'Nai Brith and a former Vice President of the Fallsburg Fire Department. Besides his memberships, Milton was an animal lover and a very generous man who never forgot the importance of A.D.L. Milton leaves behind his loving wife of 38 years, Marilyn Elovitz Brizel at home; one son, Robert Brizel of Manhattan; one sister, Rita Brizel also of Manhattan; one brother-in-law, Fred Elliot of Roswell, Ga.; one sister-in-law, Ruth Brizel of Manhattan; three nephews; two nieces; and several great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother, Irving Brizel. A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday July 14, 2005 at the Sullivan County Veteran's Cemetery, Sunset Lake Road, Liberty, N.Y. at 10:00 AM with full Military Honors. Caswell, James Andrew James Andrew Caswell, a lifelong area resident, died Monday July 11, 2005 at St. Luke's Hospital in Newburgh after injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. He was 21. He was born July 12, 1983, in Newburgh, N.Y., to Stephen M. Caswell of Stormville, N.Y. and Catherine McCoy of Norfolk, Va. He was a student at the Environmental Science and Forestry School at Syracuse University. He was a 2001 Graduate of John Jay High School in Hopewell Junction. James was currently doing construction for Hillside Homes in Newburgh. As the starting goalie for the John Jay Soccer Team during his senior year, James helped lead the Patriots to winning the State Championship in 2000. He also participated in Club Soccer at Syracuse University where he was a member of the Cheerleading Squad for the Orangemen. Locally, he played in the East Fishkill Men's Softball League. In addition to his mother of Norfolk, Va. and father of Stormville, he is survived by his sister, Dana Caswell of Stormville; his grandparents, Blair and Margery Caswell of Florida, and Alexander Fucito of Florida, as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members. Dagostino, Joseph Angello Joseph Angello Dagostino, a service manager at AT&T and resident of the area for 20 years, died July 11, 2005 in Vassar Brothers Hospital, Poughkeepsie. He was 61. The son of the late Francisco Dagostino and Margaret Hall, he was born July 15, 1943 in Mount Kisco, N.Y. Survivors include his wife Edna Ann Chalmers Dagostino at home; sons, Joseph and wife Melissa Dagostino of Plattekill, Timothy and Thea Dagostino of Plattekill; grandchildren, Amanda, Kristie, Lauren, Hillary and Timothy Jr. of Plattekill; sister, Marie Duncan of Mount Kisco; and several nieces and nephews. Frangello, Frances Frances Frangello entered into eternal rest peacefully on Monday, July 11, 2005 at the Orange County Residential Health Care Facility in Goshen, N.Y. after a courageous eight-year struggle with Alzheimer's disease. She was 81. Frances was born in Cornwall, N.Y. and lived there her entire life. She was the daughter of Mary Manino and James Randazzo and the wife of Eugene Frangello who pre-deceased her in 1982. She is survived by her nieces, Joanne Grant and her husband Dr. Martin B. Grant, Mary Ellen Pembleton, Dorothy Petrose, Dorothy Randazzo, Jean Sherman, Frances Jaeger and her husband Jerry. She was predeceased by her niece Barbara Randazzo. She is also survived by her nephews Gary Smith and his wife, Kathleen, Owen Smith and his wife Charlene, Martin Smith and his wife Marianne, Douglas Smith, Rocco Randazzo and his wife Alice, Richard Randazzo and his wife Mary, Eugene Randazzo and his wife Sue, James Randazzo, Nicholas Randazzo and his wife. She is also survived by her beloved great-niece, Jennifer Grant and her brother, Martin Grant and 25 other great-nieces and nephews. "Pop" Garrison Sr., 79, of Herald Drive, passed away Sunday evening, July 10, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital from heart complications. Born October 16, 1926 in Nyack, N.Y., he was the son of the late William and Julia Garrison. On October 24, 1945, after attending the Rockland County District School Systems, Bill enlisted with the United States Army serving both in the USA and in the European Theatre Operations earning the Army of Occupation Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and the WW II Victory Medal being honorably discharged October 29, 1946. Shortly after returning to the States, Bill met and later married Ida Polhemus with whom he shared three children and nearly 40 loving years together until her untimely passing in November of 1985. For many years Bill volunteered his services with the Central Nyack Volunteer Fire Department while working as a construction plumber mainly with Abar Plumbing and Heating Company in Goshen, N.Y. until his retirement around 1987, which brought him to the Queensbury area to be closer to his family. "Pop," as he was fondly known by his family and friends, loved the North Country which offered all the amenities he enjoyed such as fishing, camping, wildlife, breath taking scenery, and even day rides bringing home jugs of fresh spring water they would get somewhere along the way. Above all, Pop loved spending time with his family. He always looked forward to family gatherings and cookouts bringing with him "Pop's baked beans" and giving out hugs to everyone. For all those who knew him, he will be greatly missed, and in our hearts forever. Besides his parents, and loving wife, all his brothers and sisters, and oldest and only grandson, Albert Steinhauer Jr., who passed away only 4 « months ago on February 21, 2005, all predeceased him. He was 23. Born in Middletown, N.Y. on March 21, 1982, he was the son of Randolph and Julia Andrusyczyn Krause. Zelakis was a registered nurse who worked for Middletown Psychiatric Hospital, Catskill Regional Medical Center and the Monticello Central Schools. She was also a dedicated Doctor of Divine Medicine working hard to serve and heal those in her community. The daughter of the late Elizabeth McNulty, she was born on August 13, 1913 in Yonkers, New York. She was the widow of Matthew James McGrath, who passed away in 1959. A family statement reads: Mom was always an unpretentious and strong woman and always had a strong religious faith. She had a great sense of humour and always knew the birthdays of all of her grandchildren. She will always be remembered as the "Best Grama." Noel was an adoring husband, loving father, and devoted brother. He will be missed by all who knew him." He was a member of the V.F.W. and the 25th Infantry Division. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Robaina, Francisco Francisco Robaina, a longtime area resident, died Monday, July 11, 2005 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Horton Campus. He was 91 years old. The son of the late Antero and Mercedes Algares Robaina, Francisco was born on August 18, 1913 in Cuba. Francisco married the former Maria Perez in 1950 in Cuba and together they moved to the United States in 1971. One year later, they moved to Middletown from New Jersey and in 1975, Francisco and his wife proudly became U.S. Citizens. Francisco was a parishioner of St. Joseph's R.C. Church in Middletown and retired from Guild Molders as a carpenter after many years of service. Francisco is survived by his wife Maria at home; one sister, Hortencia Robaina of Cuba; one nephew, Eduardo Robaina of Hialeah, Fla.; and his dear friends and neighbors of many years, Vince and Janice Janiak and their daughter Pamela McKewan, all of Middletown and Paulina Gomez and her family. Formerly of Howells, N.Y. Ruth A. Roberts of Port Jervis and formerly of Howells, died Wednesday July 6, 2005 at O.R.M.C., Horton Campus in Middletown, N.Y. She was 50. Daughter of Chester A. Foster and Shirley Louise Smith Foster, she was born June 14, 1955 in Middletown, N.Y. Mrs. Roberts was a former unit clerk with the Medical Center of Baton Rouge in Baton Rouge, La. She is survived by her husband, David A. Roberts, of Port Jervis; two brothers, Charles Robert Foster of Baton Rouge, La., and Roy Lee Foster of Baton Rouge, La.; one niece; one nephew, and several cousins. There will be no visitation. Salisbury, a retired secretary with 30 years of service to U.S.M.A. West Point and lifelong resident of the area, died Monday, July 11, 2005 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh Campus. She was 80. The daughter of the late Thomas and Elsie Kraus Dale, she was born July 17, 1924 in Newburgh, N.Y. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church; a Meals of Wheels volunteer; Business and Professional Women; volunteered at Cornwall Hospital; Club 60; Womens Republican Club and Association of Retired Federal Employees. Survivors include husband, James Salisbury; daughters, Dale Salisbury of Newburgh, Debra Cramsie of Florida, and Nancy Zimmerman of Virginia; brothers, Frank Dale of Naples, Fla., and Patrick Dale of Alexandria, Va.; sisters, Josephine Ashby of Trenton, N.J., Mary Rohme of Newburgh, and Emily Giammarco of Newburgh; nine grandchildren: Kaitlin, Kevin, Corrine, and Brianne Corbett; Lauren, Courtney, and Nicole Cramsie; and Zachary and Megan Zimmerman; and nieces. Sosler of Middletown, formerly of Florida, N.Y., entered into rest on Monday July 11, 2005 at O.R.M.C., Horton Campus. He was 87. The son of Felix and Margaret Heter Sosler, he was born August 19, 1917 in Florida, N.Y. He was a member of St. Joseph's R.C. Church, Florida, N.Y.; St. Joseph's Choir; St. Joseph's Holy Name Society, and the Middletown Benevolent Protection Order of the Elks #1097. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Josephine Zingale Sosler at home; his son James Sosler and wife, Marylou, of Florida, N.Y.; his daughter, Amelia "Amy" Sosler of Middletown; his son, Louis J. Sosler and his wife, Pamela, of Willoughby, Ohio; five grandchildren: Kevin, Stephen, Paul, Nicholas and Alexander Sosler; his brother, Stanley Sosler of Spring Hill, Fla.; and four sisters: Helen Schwerdt of Warwick, Rose Greener of Florida, N.Y., Agnes Kotarski of Linden, N.J., and Cecelia Labriola of Dover, N.J.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Stemmler, of Warwick, joined hands with the Lord on Monday, July 11, 2005 at Schervier Pavilion, where she was affectionately known by the staff as "Blue Eyes". Her devoted family was at her bedside along with her pastor. She was married to the late Adam "R.D." Stemmler for 65 years. Survivors include two daughters: Loretta Stuart and her husband David of Warwick, Pat Benz and her husband Paul of Warwick; her three treasured grandchildren: Julian Adam, Eva Sophia and Emma Helene. Her twin sister, Ann Gallagher, resides in New Jersey. She was predeceased by her parents, Caroline and Stephen Batthany, her sister, Mary Stahl, and brothers Joseph and Henry. Walsh, a retired file clerk for South Side Hospital and nine-year area resident, formerly a lifelong resident of West Islip, N.Y., died Monday, July 11, 2005 at her home in Port Jervis. She was 77. The daughter of the late Frank and Frances Smith Meyers, she was born May 20, 1928 in Brooklyn. She previously spent many years in West Islip, N.Y. and was a member of the Arts and Crafts Club of Port Jervis, Friendly Senior Citizens Club of Port Jervis and Golden Senior Citizens Club of Port Jervis. Survivors include her husband Robert Walsh at home; two sons, William Walsh and wife Barbara of Croton, N.Y. and Michael Walsh and wife Colleen of West Islip; one daughter, Susan Keegan and husband Thomas of Babylon; eight grandchildren, Amy, Colleen, Matthew, Andrew, Daniel, Tyler, Rivka and David; eight brothers and sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews. Yungman, Herman "Chub" Herman "Chub" Yungman, a Warwick, N.Y. area resident for most of his life, died July 8, 2005 in Roanoke, VA. He was 84 years old. Chub was born Dec. 20, 1920 in the hamlet of Little York, town of Warwick, son of the late George Yungman and Anna Youngman. He was pre-deceased by his wife, Frances Conroy and grandson, Carlson Yungman. He is survived by a sister, Anna Yungman of Warwick, N.Y.; brother, Walter Yungman of Huguenot, N.Y., sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Mary of San Luis Obispo, CA, Timothy and Gayle, and Terence and Stephanie, all of Warwick, N.Y., daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Kevin Fallahee of Greenville, NC and grandchildren, Jessa, Krista, Michael, Thayne, Ian, Johanna, Abigail, Owen and Noah. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Chub was retired from Local 825, Operating Engineers, Little Ferry, N.J. He was a veteran of WWII, having served more than three years overseas in the Army Air Corps, and was a past commander and sixty year member of the V.F.W. Chub also had a strong belief in community service, having been a volunteer fireman for almost 50 years. He was a charter member of Engine Co. 3 in Warwick, and also a past president of Amity Volunteer Fire Co., Amity, N.Y. Chub was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Little York, N.Y., and served as secretary to the voter's committee for 26 years. He was also a long time member of Mountaineers Hunting Club in Glen Spey, N.Y. His interests were hunting, fishing, NASCAR, and being with friends and family. He will be missed by all.
