Vincent Arrasate of Red Bank, N.J., formerly of Plattekill, N.Y., passed away on July 10, 2005 at the age of 69. Vincent was the son of the late Eugenio and Lena Arrasate. He is survived by his daughter, Justine I. Arrasate of Cornwallville, N.Y. and his son, Kurt Arrasate of Plattekill, N.Y., his grandchildren, Shannon G. Odendahl and Gregory E. Drobot, both of Plattekill; along with his great-grandchildren, Olivia Paige and Tyler Mattison Odendahl Spaulding. He is also survived by his brother, Eugene Arrasate and his family of Henderson, Nev. and several cousins in the tri-state area. Vincent retired from the Ford Motor Co. of Mahwah and Edison, N.J. He was a Town of Plattekill Police Officer for ten years and a volunteer member of the Plattekill Fire Rescue. Burial took place in Perth Amboy, N.J. Brizel, Milton Milton Brizel, a retired professor, and longtime resident of Fallsburg, passed away Monday July 11 2005 at the Skilled Nursing Unit in Catskill Regional Medical Center. He was 89. The son of the late Zigmund and Sarah Finkelstein Brizel, he was born April 14, 1916 in Bronx, N.Y. Milton was a Lieutenant in the United States Army, and served his country in both World War II and the Korean Conflict. He earned his Bachelor's Degree at Penn State and his Master's Degree at Columbia, and became a math teacher, teaching in the Fallsburg High School, and later became one of the first professors at Sullivan County Community College when it opened, where he retired in 1981. He was a member of the N.Y.S. Retired Teacher's Association; past member of the Board of Education of Fallsburg Central School; past member of the Board of trustees of S.C.C.C.; the American Association University of Professors; the So. Fallsburg Hebrew Association; the American Legion; B'Nai Brith and a former Vice President of the Fallsburg Fire Department. Besides his memberships, Milton was an animal lover and a very generous man who never forgot the importance of A.D.L. Milton leaves behind his loving wife of 38 years, Marilyn Elovitz Brizel at home; one son, Robert Brizel of Manhattan; one sister, Rita Brizel also of Manhattan; one brother-in-law, Fred Elliot of Roswell, Ga.; one sister-in-law, Ruth Brizel of Manhattan; three nephews; two nieces; and several great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother, Irving Brizel. A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday July 14, 2005 at the Sullivan County Veteran's Cemetery, Sunset Lake Road, Liberty, N.Y. at 10:00 AM with full Military Honors. The daughter of Rosario Lanoce and Margaret Myers Lanoce, she was born October 24, 1948 in Bronx. She was a member of the Church of the Infant Saviour, Pine Bush. Caterinicchio, Lena Lena Caterinicchio, of Walden, a retired seamstress for Brooks Brothers Clothing in Long Island City and a longtime resident of the area, died Tuesday, July 12, 2005 in Newburgh. She was 94. The daughter of the late Nathan Naso and Giorgina Aialo Naso, she was born May 7, 1911 in Woodside Queens, N.Y. She was a member of the Seamstress Union in NYC and the AARP. She was the widow of Leonard A. Caterinicchio. Survivors include her son Leonard A. Jr. of Montgomery; son George J. of Walden; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brothers Louis Puglisi of Long Island, Peppi Puglisi of Whitestone; nieces & nephews. Joyce Sr. of Montgomery, a dairy farmer and lifetime resident of the area, died Tuesday July 12, 2005, in Middletown, N.Y. He was 85. The son of the late John F. and Delia Coyne Joyce, he was born March 9, 1920 in New Rochelle, N.Y. He was a member of numerous agricultural organizations in Orange County. A family statement reads: "Tom was a loving husband, devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Through his love of the outdoors and his wisdom of life he encouraged integrity, self-confidence, satisfaction in a job well done and the pleasure of expressing love without words." Son of William S. McClennan and Melani Wydra McClennan, he was born May 26, 1991 in Middletown, N.Y. He was a member of the Monroe-Woodbury school 8th grade modified football team. He was an incoming freshman at Monroe-Woodbury High School in Central Valley, N.Y. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church in Highland Mills, N.Y. He is survived by his parents, William S. The daughter of Polk McNeill and Beatrice Clegg, she was born October 17, 1962 in Jersey City, N.J. She was a member of House of Refuge Church of God in Christ, Newburgh. Survivors include her loving and caring parents, mother Beatrice Clegg of Statesville, N.C. and father, Polk McNeill of Angier, N.C.; two sons, Ricky A. Meli of Greenwood Lake, N.Y. and Sanford, Fla., a summer resident of Greenwood Lake for over forty years died on Wednesday, July 13, 2005 in Orange Regional Meidcal Center in Goshen. He was 85. The son of the late Samuel and Francis Meli, he was born on March 20, 1920 in New York City. Charles was retired from the New York City Department of Sanitation. He was a member of the V.F.W., Knights of Columbus, American Legion, and the Italian American Club, all in Sanford, Fla. Survivors include his wife Jessie Meli at home, his children, Rose F. Rizzo of Leesburg, Fla., Jessica J. Meli of Ormond Beach, Fla., Maureen Walker and her husband Guy Everett of Deltona, Fla., and Charles J. Meli and his wife Theresa of Greenwood Lake, his sister Lorraine DeVarti and her husband Albert of Greenwood Lake. "Joe" Osoba died peacefully at Vassar Brothers Medical Center on Sunday, July 10, 2005. The son of Frank and Agnes Osoba, Joe was born on March 10, 1927 in Beacon, N.Y. He graduated from Beacon High School and joined the US Army in June 1945. Upon his return home in 1947, Joe attended St. John's University while also working at the Beacon Post Office. On January 30, 1949, Joe made the best decision of his life and married the former Jean Ann Bump who survives at home in Fishkill. Joe and Jean have shared their 56 years together with their three children and spouses, Francena J. and Justin Resnick, Nancy E. and Mark Giordano, and Vincent J. and Charlanne Edmonds Osoba. Joe was an avid reader, a skilled chef who loved to put on an old fashioned New England clambake, and an impassioned Yankee and Giants fan. He loved to entertain family and friends with his great sense of humor. After 37 years, Joe retired from the US Postal Service and devoted much of his available time volunteering. An active member of the Beacon Elk's Club, he served as its treasurer for 17 years and authored the Club's newsletter, "The Bugle." Castle Point Veterans Hospital was an important part of Joe's life, both as a patient and as a volunteer where he logged over 1,000 hours of committed service for his fellow veterans. During several years while residing in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, Joe also volunteered at Beebe Hospital in Lewes. He was honored by Delaware's Governor with an Outstanding Volunteer Award. Joe was a member of the Beacon Historical Society. "Pepop" will be missed by his six grandchildren, Renee Giordano Salese, Mark Giordano, Jilian and Megan Stombock and Brad and Corey Osoba and by his "little doggie" Butterscotch. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Lenora and Bill Gilbert and his nieces and nephews. Sussman, Alan Alan Sussman, the co-owner and operator of Monitor Electric in Monticello and longtime area resident, died at home on Wednesday, July 13, 2005 with his loving family by his side after an eight-year battle with cancer. He was 69. He was born in the Bronx on December 3, 1935, the son of the late Louis & Gertrude Saperstein Sussman. He was an Army Special Forces veteran serving in Korea. Alan was a special man, devoted to his wife, children, mother, brothers, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, business partner and many friends including his brothers and sisters-in-law. Alan was an avid golfer, a gourmet chef, incredible host and true lover of life. Alan lived life to its fullest in everything that he did, "AND DID IT HIS WAY." He left a mark on everyone he met and had a smile that would brighten the room. He would leave you with a joke and a smile and send you on your way. His favorite loves were his family, friends, golf and his country. Alan served in the US Army, Special Forces in Korea, serving from 1954-1956. He graduated from the Army's Eta Jima Specialist School in Japan of cooking and baking, and continued cooking for family and friends throughout his life. He is survived by his wife Karen Rieber; his mother Gertrude Sussman; his three children from his marriage to Isabelle Rawich, his daughter, Laurel Adler and his two sons, Paul Sussman and his wife Anna and Matthew Sussman; his two brothers Jack Sussman and his wife Carol and Ivan Sussman; and his grandchildren, Andrew Jacob Adler, Molly Lauren Adler and Sylvie Grace Sussman; his nephews, Alex and Craig; his nieces Emily and Kelly; the entire Rieber family who he considered his own, Bill, Laurie, Sean, Nikki, Brian, Keith, Brandon, Connor, Kevin, Jeanne, Cara, Shanna, Kristen, Kelsey, Terry, Joseph, James, Collin, Seanna, Laura, Bryan, Tristan; his loving business partner and "brother" of over 25 years Dennis Diuguid; and his many loving friends and golf partners.
