William J. Burkert, a retired manager at O.T.B. and a long-time area resident, died Monday, July 11, 2005 in his home in Middletown. He was 77. The son of Bertrum and Martha Miller Burkert, William was born on April 22, 1928 in Dayton, Ohio. He is a graduate of St. Francis College in Brooklyn, N.Y., a former member of the Middletown Lions Club, and a member of the Middletown Elks Lodge #1097. Survivors include his son, Steven J. Burkert and his wife Candice of Collierville, Tenn., and his grandchildren, Megan and Jason Burkert. He was predeceased by his wife, Lucille Paris Burkert who died February 21, 2001 and his daughter, Catherine. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Clarke, Flora "Midge" Formerly of Middletown, N.Y. Flora "Midge" Clarke, longtime resident of Middletown, died in Oneonta, on Monday, July 11, 2005, after an extended illness. She was 96 years old. She was predeceased by her husband, R. Edgar Clarke, her twin sister, Laura Banks, and her nephew, Robert Banks. She is survived by her son, Richard Clarke of Jupiter Beach, Fla.; her daughter, Marilyn Wesley of Oneonta; her grandchildren, Jay Hayes, Jordan Hayes and Carolyn Clarke; her nephew, John Banks and her niece, Doris Velsor. Active in Middletown charitable organizations, including the Horton Hospital and Meals on Wheels, Mrs. Clarke was employed as a bookkeeper and an owner of R. Edgar Clarke, Inc. Farquhar, Philomena Meore Philomena Meore Farquhar, 73, of Havelock, died Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at her home. She was a native of Washingtonville, N.Y., where she graduated from Washingtonville Central High School. She was the daughter of John and Rosalia VanRegnmortel Meore. Phil was a member of First Untied Methodist Church where she was in the First United Women's Club, Crafters Guild, and the Christians Ladies Circle. She was also affiliated with the Fleet Reserve Ladies Auxiliary, Business and Professional Women and served as treasurer of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and the Women of the Moose. She worked with the FBI, Ford Motor Co., and retired from Civil Service at Cherry Point. Phil also enjoyed traveling, needlepoint, boating and loved water skiing. Jundrio, of Walden, N.Y., a manager for Super 8 in Stroudsburg, Pa., died Wednesday, July 13, 2005 in East Stroudsburg, Pa. She was 64. The daughter of Charles and Mary Lettiere Jundrio, she was born July 16, 1940 in Brooklyn, N.Y. Kleinegris Jr., of Nanuet, died peacefully at home with his family by his side on Wednesday, July 13, 2005 after a long battle with ALS. He was 65. John was born in Manhattan on November 11, 1939 to John and Mary (Cruse) Kleinegris. John married Joan Schneider on June 20, 1964 in Carmel, N.Y. They lived in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. for 32 years before moving to Nanuet. John worked in the Putnam Valley Central School District for 37 years (14 as a fifth grade teacher, 19 as elementary school principal, 4 as superintendent of schools). John will be deeply missed by all. He was a kind and gentle man devoted to his family. He always thought of others first and never sought recognition for all his good deeds. Besides his wife Joan, he is survived by his three daughters, Karen Quackenbush and her husband Craig of Rockaway, N.J., Nancy Ferst and her husband Derek of Congers, N.Y. and Janet Warden and her husband Gary of Ulster Park, N.Y; two sisters, Ann and Jim Coldiron of Naples, Fla., Dorothy and Jimmy Trottier of Wappingers Falls, N.Y.; three grandchildren, Taylor Quackenbush, Jared and Sydney Ferst; and several nieces and nephews. Meli of Greenwood Lake, N.Y. and Sanford, Fla., a summer resident of Greenwood Lake for over forty years died on Wednesday, July 13, 2005 in Orange Regional Meidcal Center in Goshen. He was 85. The son of the late Samuel and Francis Meli, he was born on March 20, 1920 in New York City. Charles was retired from the New York City Department of Sanitation. He was a member of the V.F.W., Knights of Columbus, American Legion, and the Italian American Club, all in Sanford, Fla. Survivors include his wife Jessie Meli at home, his children, Rose F. Rizzo of Leesburg, Fla., Jessica J. Meli of Ormond Beach, Fla., Maureen Walker and her husband Guy Everett of Deltona, Fla., and Charles J. Prokosch, Douglas James "Doug" Formerly of Monticello, N.Y. Doug Prokosch, 58, of Spring Hill, Fla., died unexpectedly on June 7, 2005. In 1997, he retired from his job of 26 years as a custodial supervisor for the Sullivan County Government Center. He and his wife, Mary, of 38 years, moved to Florida. He was also a member of First United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Mary, at home; his mother Lydia Prokosch, of Monticello; two sons, Kirk Prokosch, of Rock Springs, Ga. and 1st Sergeant James Prokosch, United States Marine Corps, Okinawa, Japan; a daughter, Wendy Meddaugh, of Holiday, Fla.; one brother, Raymond "Skippy" Prokosch, of Monticello; two sisters, Joyce Bullock, of Ellenville and Jeanette Hamilton, of Newfoundland, Pa.; and five grandchildren, Olivia, Sara, Taylor, Rachel, and Jacob. He was 83. The son of Charles Sissler and Alice Ruhl Sissler (who were of Staten Island, N.Y.), he was born November 12, 1921 in New York, N.Y. He was a Lt. in the US Navy serving as a naval aviator in WW II. He received a Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering from Manhattan College. Survivors include his wife Dorothy A. Fitzgerald Sissler at home; two sons, John Sissler of Sparta, N.J. and Michael Sissler of Wyckoff, N.J.; daughter Ann Sissler of New Windsor; six grandchildren; and eight nieces and nephews. Erna was born in Germany and was the wife of the late Norbert Stahl. Sussman, Alan Alan Sussman, the co-owner and operator of Monitor Electric in Monticello and longtime area resident, died at home on Wednesday, July 13, 2005 with his loving family by his side after an eight-year battle with cancer. He was 69. He was born in the Bronx on December 3, 1935, the son of the late Louis & Gertrude Saperstein Sussman. He was an Army Special Forces veteran serving in Korea. Alan was a special man, devoted to his wife, children, mother, brothers, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, business partner and many friends including his brothers and sisters-in-law. Alan was an avid golfer, a gourmet chef, incredible host and true lover of life. Alan lived life to its fullest in everything that he did, "AND DID IT HIS WAY." He left a mark on everyone he met and had a smile that would brighten the room. He would leave you with a joke and a smile and send you on your way. His favorite loves were his family, friends, golf and his country. Alan served in the US Army, Special Forces in Korea, serving from 1954-1956. He graduated from the Army's Eta Jima Specialist School in Japan of cooking and baking, and continued cooking for family and friends throughout his life. He is survived by his wife Karen Rieber; his mother Gertrude Sussman; his three children from his marriage to Isabelle Rawich, his daughter, Laurel Adler and his two sons, Paul Sussman and his wife Anna and Matthew Sussman; his two brothers Jack Sussman and his wife Carol and Ivan Sussman; and his grandchildren, Andrew Jacob Adler, Molly Lauren Adler and Sylvie Grace Sussman; his nephews, Alex and Craig; his nieces Emily and Kelly; the entire Rieber family who he considered his own, Bill, Laurie, Sean, Nikki, Brian, Keith, Brandon, Connor, Kevin, Jeanne, Cara, Shanna, Kristen, Kelsey, Terry, Joseph, James, Collin, Seanna, Laura, Bryan, Tristan; his loving business partner and "brother" of over 25 years Dennis Diuguid; and his many loving friends and golf partners.
