She was 70. The daughter of the late Antoinette & Joseph Andryshak, she was born June 30, 1935 in Goshen, N.Y. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Florida, N.Y. and St. Joseph's Church Polish Choir. Mom was the co-owner of the "Country Garden" in Middletown. She was an avid gardener and loved her flower beds. She was a devoted mother, wife and baci. Durbin, of Newburgh, passed away on Friday, July 15, 2005 at the Fishkill Health Center, Beacon. He was 74. Son of the late Edward and Marie Waller Durbin, he was born on April 26, 1931 in Northampton, Massachusetts. He was a 1949 graduate of Williamsburg High School. He married Mary Clegg Durbin on March 16, 1957 in Ashton-Under-Lyne, England. They had been married for 48 years. Robert proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1951 until his retirement in 1971, after 20 years of service. After which he worked with the Civil Service, DEH, at West Point until 1996. He was a founding member of the Town of Newburgh Little League, and served as member of the Board of Directors, an umpire and coach. He was also an avid car racing fan. Survivors include his loving wife Mary at home; his sons, David L. Durbin and his wife Constance Alexander of Connecticut, Richard E. Durbin of Newburgh; his daughter, Cynthia Galvin and her husband James R. of Airmont, N.Y.; his sister, Barbara Swindell and her husband James of Westfield, Mass.; six grandchildren, Yvonne, Amanda, Daniel, Eric, Kathryn and Sarah; his aunt, Helen Huntington of Northampton, Mass.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Lynch, Kathleen B. 1910-2005 Longtime Tappan resident, Kathleen B. Lynch, passed peacefully to her eternal reward on July 15, 2005 at the Elant in Goshen, N.Y. She was born November 15, 1910 in Hartford, Conn. to Charles and Lillian Flynn. Through her mother, her family traced its earliest arrival in this country to 1635 and to England before William the Conqueror. During her childhood, she attended 13 different grammar schools as her father moved throughout the eastern half of the United States while working as a plumbing supervisor. The family settled in Astoria, Queens in the early 1920s. She was a graduate of Bryant High School in Astoria, attended New York University and went to work in the insurance business on John Street in Manhattan in 1928. She married Marshall K. Lynch in 1938 and they moved to Tappan in 1941. In 1949, when her husband moved his law practice to Tappan, she went to work for the Kirchner Insurance Agency in Tappan and retired from its successor, Kirchner-Bryant Agency in 1985. She was predeceased by her husband in 1970. A devout Catholic, she was an active parishioner of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, a member of its Rosary and Altar Society, Study Group and Ladies of Charity. She was a secretary of the Tappantown Historical Society at its founding and an ardent supporter of the formation of the Tappan Library, as well as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed traveling, journeying in her late seventies and early eighties to Europe, Russia, South America and China as well as numerous trips to the United States. In 1981, she moved to Thorpe Village on the campus of St. Thomas Aquinas College in Sparkill and after actively encouraging the building of Dowling Gardens, the affiliated assisted living complex, moved there in 1996. She loved swimming, and was an active member of the Diplomat Health Club until she voluntarily, but reluctantly, gave up driving after having had a license for 75 years. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and until the last few months of her life, she was the consummate bridge player and voracious reader. She is survived by her children, Robert (Sandra) Lynch of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. and Lake Wallenpaupack, Pa. and Linda (Gerald) Meemken of Walden, N.Y.; four grandchidlren, Robert (Genevieve) Lynch Jr., Sheila (Michael) Evans, Christopher (Sarah) Dineen and Tracey Dineen; six beloved great-grandchildren; a sister Vera Smith of Dalton, N.H.; a niece and nephew; and grandnieces and grandnephews. Nelson, a retired clerk for the Department of Engineering at West Point, N.Y. and 20-year area resident, died Saturday, July 9, 2005 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital in Cornwall. She was 73. The daughter of the late Lowell Ames Norris and Helen Curtis Norris, she was born August 24, 1931 in Boston, Mass. Survivors include her son, Scott Nelson of Highland Falls; daughter Karen Nelson of Sanibel, Fla.; sister Carolyn Graham of Sanibel, Fla.; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Curtis Norris. There will be no visitation. Private funeral services will be held at a later date in Boston, Mass. Nicklin, Franklin Case Frank Case Nicklin, a lifelong resident and retired farmer of Marlborough, died July 14, 2005. Frank passed in his home on Mount Zion Road in which he was born 94 years ago on January 19, 1911. He was the son of Sarah Augusta Baxter Nicklin and William Towers Nicklin who were also born and raised in Marlborough, N.Y. Frank lived his life as a hard-working farmer who loved his family, home and land. He knew every nook and cranny of the Marlborough's mountains as he walked it every day. He walked it quietly and reflectively, he walked it as a hunter and he walked it as a farmer holding the reins of his farm horse, Bill. He and his two brothers, Edmund and John cultivated the soils of the hillsides to grow the fruits that fed their families and people in far flung places. Frank's wit and dry humor was with him through out his life and even until the very end. He wove stories of family history, local lore and humor for all who came to his home. Every story was told with Frankie's unique curmudgeonly style, a wink and a twinkle of his blue eyes. His rapier wit and gentle heart will sorely be missed. Frank was an avid antiques collector and member of the Hudson Valley Bottle Club. Family members who carry his name forward include his devoted and loving wife Freda Wilklow Nicklin who still rules the homestead on the mountain with a loving but iron hand. All of his children, William F. Nicklin and his wife Adah residing in Newburgh, Janet Gardner and Elsie Nicklin-McKay and her husband Robert McKay also of Marlborough; six grandchildren, William Nicklin and wife Lisa, Jonathan Nicklin, Ryan Gardner, Rebecca Gardner, Colin McKay and Grace McKay. Frank also leaves behind one great-grandchild, Henry. He was 86. The son of the late Idres W. Nied and Marjorie Quinn Nied, he was born May 9, 1919 in Sparrowbush. He was married to the late Sylvia Hulse Nied. He was a member of the Most Sacred Heart R.C. Church, Port Jervis. He was a US Army veteran of WW II with the rank of Tech. Sgt. serving in Italy and Africa; member of Roosa-Fleming VFW Post #161, Port Jervis; life-member of Sparrowbush Fire Dept. As a hobby, he was a recreational pilot who flew Cessna and Piper Cubs in the Tri-State Area. A family statement read, "John was a loving husband, father, father-in-law and grandfather. He was loved by all who knew him and will be sadly missed." He was a brick layer and mason in the construction industry and was a member of the Brick Layers Union and Allied Craftsman. He was 83. The son of Charles Sissler and Alice Ruhl Sissler (who were of Staten Island, N.Y.), he was born November 12, 1921 in New York, N.Y. He was a Lt. in the US Navy serving as a naval aviator in WW II. He received a Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering from Manhattan College. Survivors include his wife Dorothy A. Fitzgerald Sissler at home; two sons, John Sissler of Sparta, N.J. and Michael Sissler of Wyckoff, N.J.; daughter Ann Sissler of New Windsor; sister, Marjorie Barriger of San Mateo, Calif.; six grandchildren; and eight nieces and nephews. He was a US Army veteran serving in WW II, guard at the tomb of the unknown soldier, life-member of the American Legion, Newburgh Elks, Holy Name Society, V.P. Iron Workers Union.
