Prior to her successful completion of her degree, Margaret's personal journey began when she met and fell in love with Henry R. Lawrence, who also attended and taught at Wilberforce University. After graduating in 1962, Margaret began her teaching career with the Chicago School System and a year later married Henry R. Lawrence on November 10, 1963. As newlyweds, both Margaret and Henry Lawrence were blessed with 2 beautiful daughters; their first child Pamela Lynn Lawrence, on December 25th, 1964 and their 2nd child, Michelle Renee Lawrence, on February 8th 1966. Due to job relocation, Margaret faithfully accompanied her husband in 1967 to White Plains, New York where she continued her teaching career within the Greenburgh Elementary School District until their blessed 3rd child was born, Henry Robert Lawrence Jr. (Robby) on November 9th 1970. In 1971 Margaret and Henry embraced a new foundation for their family by building a home in Wappingers Falls, New York, where they both raised 3 children while pursuing their individual careers. From 1971 to 2005 Margaret flourished and excelled professionally and personally amongst her colleagues, church family, friends, and her community. All of which became the beneficiaries of her rooted spiritual foundation that were Margaret's personal testimonies of her own beacons of light. Professionally, from 1971 to 1996, Margaret established her exemplary career as a 3rd and 4th Grade Elementary School Teacher within the Wappingers Central School District for Fishkill Plains, Myers Corners, and Brinkerhoff Elementary School. Margaret's 24 years as one of the most successful African American Educators for WCSD ended with a stellar record when she retired in 1996. Personally from 1971 to her recent untimely passing, Margaret's spiritual faith is the real centerpiece that marks her heart for every step measured as a beloved child of God. As an active member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, Wappingers Falls, New York, Margaret's selfless and tireless acts of her love for God appeared with her ongoing involvement with various significant ministries and committees: *Deaconess Ministry, *BMBC Gospel Chorus, *Education Committee Member, *Scholarship Committee Member, *Pastor's Aid Society, *Hospitality Committee, *Vacation Bible School Teacher, *Nursery School Ministry. Which also included personal organizational affiliations as well: *Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, *Black Child Development Institute Mid Hudson Affiliate, *Wappingers Central Teachers Union. Overall, Margaret's life displayed spiritual grace while her steps and acts of love exhibited her favorite Serenity prayer Both Margaret and Henry experienced an unbelievable sorrow that no parent should ever have to endure when they lost their beloved daughter Michelle Renee Lawrence on December 25th ,1991. However through faith of knowing within their hearts that they serve a merciful God, joy came around the corner when they became blessed with 2 grandchildren, Sklyer (7) and Halley (6) Lawrence from their son and his wife Robby and Denise Lawrence. Margaret's fulfillment came in the form of establishing an annual educational scholarship for Bethel Missionary Baptist church Students to honor their daughter Michelle. Margaret's Peace came in the form of being educated with a healthy family, financial security and her love to create any and all things with her hands. Margaret's Love came through her most cherished treasure, her husband Henry Lawrence and that love blessed her with the joy of wonderful 42 years of marriage with her best friend "her buddy".
