Charles R. Dineen, formerly of Olean, died Tuesday July 19, 2005 at his residence following a lengthy illness. Born in Middletown, NY on February 22, 1928, he was the son of Charles and Irene Post Dineen. In 1952 he married Kathleen Shay who predeceased him. In 1988 he married Sophie Bell who survives. He was a graduate of Middletown High School. Following high school, he served in the United States Navy for two years. He received a BBA degree in accounting from St. Bonaventure University. Mr. Dineen worked in commercial banking for 34 years, starting as a teller at the First National Bank of Olean and retiring as Regional President for Manufacturer's Hanover Bank, a position he occupied for fifteen years in Olean and Buffalo. He was President of the Cattaraugus County Banker's Association and Chairman of Group One of the New York State Bankers Association. Mr. Dineen served on the board of trustees of his beloved St. Bonaventure University where he also served as chairman of the finance committee. He was named Trustee Emeritus in 1990. He was the alumnus of the year in 1966 and held numerous alumni offices. He was also very active in civic affairs serving as Treasurer and Director of the Better Business Bureau of Western New York, President of the Olean Area Chamber of Commerce and Vice Chairman of the board of trustees of St. Francis Hospital. In addition he also served as president of the United Way, Red Cross and the Bartlett Country Club. He was an avid golfer and belonged to Cypress Links in Jupiter, FL, Bartlett Country Club of Olean, Crag Burn in East Aurora, NY and North River Golf and Yacht Club in Tuscaloosa, AL. In addition to his wife Sophie, he is survived by two daughters Eileen (Michael) Roff and Colleen (Anthony) Dieteman, both of Olean; two sons Daniel (LeeAnn) Dineen of Olean and Kevin Dineen of Rochester; a stepson Steve (Stephanie) Stephens of Tuscaloosa, AL; a stepdaughter Suzanne (Justin) Byrom of TN; eight grandchildren; one great grandson; sister Mary (Thomas) Meyers of Middleton, NY and a brother James (Doreen) Dineen of Freeville, NY. He was predeceased by two brothers, John Dineen and Mike Dineen in 1987. Friends were received on Friday July 22 at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 West State Rd., Olean from 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral services were conducted on Saturday July 23 at St. Bonaventure University Chapel at 10 AM. The Rev. Dominic Monti, OFM officiated. The son of Margaret Anderson Coupart and the late James Doering, he was born September 11, 1957 in Cornwall, N.Y. John was an avid Yankee baseball and Giants football fan. He also enjoyed fishing and golfing. A family statement reads: "He was a loving companion, son, father, brother and friend. We will all miss him." Ferrara, Lucy Lucy Ferrara, a homemaker and 33-year resident of the area, died Friday, July 22, 2005 at home. She was 82. The daughter of the late Jack Gati and Anna Crisinati Gati, she was born September 12, 1922 in Thompsonville, Conn. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, Goshen. A family statement reads, "Mom devoted her entire life to her husband, children and grandchildren. Nothing gave her more joy that to have everyone around her table, filled with laughter and her home cooking." Survivors include her husband Harry Ferrara at home; two sons, Richard Ferrara and his wife Millie of Goshen and Peter Ferrara and his wife Diane of Goshen; daughter Anna Shapiro and husband Marshall of Manalapan, N.J.; sister Beatrice Abate of Brooklyn; five grandchildren Cami Savage, Doreen Whitton, Debra Gonzalez, Richie Ferrara and Karen Ferrara; four great-grandchildren Jessica, Juliana, Rebecca and Marco. Hathaway, a retired electronics technician for IBM Corp. in Poughkeepsie, and longtime area resident, died Friday, July 22, 2005 at home. He was 62. The son of the late A. Lloyd and Margaret Hotchkiss Hathaway, he was born August 2, 1942 in Downsville, N.Y. John was an avid musician, playing for several area bands including Country Cousins, Starlighters, Slurp Deluxe and Country Express. He also served as a Cub Master for the Plattekill Cub Scouts Troop. John was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Survivors include his wife Betty Hathaway; son John Hathaway of Atlanta, Martin Hathaway of Gardiner, Carl Hathaway of Venice, Fla.; daughter Deborah Place of Highland; stepsisters, Elsie Pardee of Downsville and Ella Campbell of Downsville; nine grandchildren, Cory, Ryan, Breanna, Noelle, Shelby, Noah, Evan, Alden, Savannah; and many nieces and nephews. Published in the Times Herald-Record from 7/23/2005 - 7/24/2005. Kaminsky, George George Kaminsky, 83, of South Fallsburg, died peacefully at home on July 22, 2005 surrounded by those he loved. Born and raised in Greenfield Park, N.Y., George was dedicated to helping others throughout the course of his life. To help his family weather the hardships of the Great Depression, he started working at age 12. Over the course of his working life George owned and operated several businesses, including the Great Oil Company in South Fallsburg. It was not unusual for him to leave the comforts of home on a bitter mid-winter night to deliver fuel oil or mend a broken furnace for a customer in distress. During these years George was an active member of the Masons and Lions Clubs. He served as the Lions President and Deputy District Governor for many years, helping people in need receive eye and ear care and operations. He was honored by awards too numerous to count. In his early twenties George met his true love, Doris Myerson. They married and raised a family together. A devoted father, grandfather and uncle, he is survived by: daughter, Karen Pollak and her husband Jeffrey, son Marty Kaminsky and his wife Martha, grandchildren Danielle and Jason Pollak and Leah and David Kaminsky, beloved sisters-in-law Lillian Shabus, Ruth Magid and Charlotte Schwartz and many nieces and nephews. In the Jewish tradition it is said that the human lifetime is vain unless it is utilized for the purpose of accumulating good deeds, the rewards for which will be reaped in the world to come. George Kaminsky lived a life of great generosity toward all whom crossed his path. His long record of good deeds precedes him on his final journey. Funeral services will be held at the Joseph N. Kilbury, Harriet Harriet Kilbury, of Middletown, a retired licensed practical nurse having worked at Horton Hospital and the Middletown Psychiatric Center in Middletown, died Thursday, July 21, 2005 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Horton Campus in Middletown. She was 85. The daughter of the late Wilbur and Irene LaBolt Gray, she was born on March 20, 1920 in Franklin, N.J. She was a member of the Middletown Salvation Army, the Ladies Home League and the Seniors of the Salvation Army. Survivors include her niece, Ellen-Patricia Hayes of Poughkeepsie; as well as several additional nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Mary Elizabeth Miller in 1994 and Myrtle Catherine Kern on May 18, 2005. Kressevich, Gloria Joan Gloria Joan Kressevich, a retired self-employed artist and four-year area resident, died Friday, July 22, 2005 at Nyack Hospital in Nyack. She was 71. The daughter of the late Joseph Matykunas and Pauline Zurine Matykunas, she was born Feb. 14, 1934 in Brooklyn. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church in Highland Mills. A family statement reads, "Her pride was in her grandchildren. They were the most important thing in her life. She grew to love her dog Thunder, as her family hoped." Earnie was a retired New York City Police Officer and was currently employed as Security Patrol at Kutsher's Hotel. All who knew Earnie, knew that he was a kind, gentle and soft spoken guy. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
