He was 74. The son of the late Homer and Lillian E. Smith Buchanan, he was born April 5, 1931 in Matamoras, Pa. Mr. Buchanan was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Korean War. He was a member of the National Rifle Association; American Legion in Philadelphia, Pa.; member of the Buxton, Maine Rod & Gun Club; the International Brotherhood Electrical Workers Union; and a member of the Day Lilies Society. A family statement reads: "Carl was an avid gardener, outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed spending many years at his second home in Hollis, Maine." He is survived by his wife, Loretta M. Koenig Buchanan, at home; one son, Carl Buchanan and his wife, Marie, of Milford, Pa.; one brother, James Buchanan of Matamoras, Pa.; one granddaughter, Tammy Allison and her husband, William; three great-grandchildren: Cody, Taylor and Olivia; and several nieces and nephews. She was 61. Daughter of Dominic Sernotti and Anne Nececkas Sernotti, she was born September 13, 1943 in New York, N.Y. A small business owner and housewife, she was an active member of St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church in Goshen, N.Y. She was the widow of William Blanchard Jacobsen. She is survived by three sons: Brett Jacobsen of Sarasota, Fla., Lance Jacobsen and his wife, Kim, of Bradenton, Fla., and Michael Jacobsen of Goshen; five daughters: Suzanne Byrne and her husband, James of Goshen, Lynne Joseloff and her husband, Larry, of Bethesda, Md., Karen Bujno and her husband, James, of Monroe, and Michelle Jacobsen and Sarah Jacobsen, both of Goshen; two brothers, John Sernotti and wife, Grace, of New Milford, Conn., and James Sernotti and wife, Andrea, of Teaneck, N.J.; four grandchildren: Lauren and Kaitlyn Byrne, Alexandria Jacobsen, and William Joseloff; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, William Jacobsen; and her mother and father, Dominic and Anne Sernotti. Kelty, Roberta Greene "Bobbie" Roberta "Bobbie" Greene Kelty of Ellenville, a resident since 1946, and a retired high school English teacher at the Ellenville Central School District, died July 25, 2005 in Vassar Brothers Hospital in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. She was 75. The daughter of Philip and Bernice Peoples Gibbons, she was born April 21, 1930 in Danville, Ill. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association. Survivors include her daughter, Piper Caruso and her husband, Rickey, of Kerhonkson; great grandchildren; and two nieces. Rothstein, Albert Albert Rothstein, of New Windsor, died at Castle Point VA Hospital on July 25, 2005. He was 80. He was born on February 2, 1925 in Brooklyn, N.Y. to the late Isadore and Mollie Rothstein. Albert was a member of the Temple Beth Jacob, the past President of the Newburgh Jewish Community Center and was a graduate of Oklahoma A & M College. Albert served his country in World War II in the United States Army. He was the Owner and Operator of Albro Utilities for over 50 years. Survivors include his loving Children, Larry and his wife Gina Rothstein of New Windsor, Mark and his wife MaryAnn of Montgomery, David and his wife Cara of Wallkill, and Shari and her husband Thomas Franco of New Windsor. Shafer, 95, of Stuart, Fla, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2005 at her home. Born in Jermyn, Pa., she had lived in Florida for 35 years. Prior to retirement, LaReene was a registered nurse in Middletown, N.Y. Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Behringer of Franklin, Pa.; sons, William Shafer of Stuart, Fla. and Michael Shafer of Nags Head, N.C.; sister, Eleanor Schweickhardt of Las Vegas, Nev.; brother, William Parke of Churchville, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; and nine great- grandchildren. Thomakos, James James Thomakos, of Newburgh, entered into rest July 23, 2005 at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. He was 66. Born on December 22, 1938 in Greece. He was a retired self employed Auto Mechanic. A family statement read, "He was a loving brother, brother-in-law, uncle and cousin, and he will be greatly missed by his family and everyone who knew him." He was predeceased by his brother George; nephew Pete; and his parents in Greece. "Wild Bill" Thompson, a retired Town of New Windsor Police Officer, passed away on Saturday July 23, 2005, at home. He was 61. Son of the late Duncan and Helen Olsen Thompson, he was born April 24, 1944 in Newburgh, N.Y. He married Angela Crudele Thompson on May 7, 1989 in Newburgh, who survives at home. William enlisted in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1967 after proudly serving four years. He was a member of the Orange County Peace Officers Association, Disabled American Veterans, New Windsor PBA, and the American Legion Post #4424. William also enjoyed working as a salesman at Morehead Honda, at West Point Tours and Argenio Brothers Construction. A family statement reads: "Billy was one of a kind. Everyone that knew him loved him and he returned that love. Angela wants his family, police family, and friends to know that they were very important to him and how much he loved them. Shadow is welcoming his Daddy with open paws. He loved his wife Angela very much." The son of Paula Woods and the late Julio Toro, he was born August 15, 1956 in Brooklyn. Survivors include his mother, Paula Woods of Otisville; his children Lizette Toro of Middletown, Mayra Conroy of Warwick, Glorida Dasilva of Kingston, Yvette Drake of Kingston and Benny Algarin of Middletown and his companion Gloria Fernandez; siblings, Maryann Toro of Middletown, Carol Sotomayer of Middletown, Manny Toro of Brooklyn, Phillip Toro of Otsiville and Lillian Toro of Brooklyn; as well as many step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was born August 24, 1921 in Brooklyn, N.Y., the daughter of the late Michael and Teofelia Socha Jasnosz. Loretta was married for 35 years to the late Bronislaus "Bill" Winnicki who died December 28, 1978. Loretta was the store manager for the Salvation Army Thrift Store in Brooklyn for 35 years. She was a member of Our Lady of Consolation, Brooklyn, N.Y. A family statement read: "Thank you Mom. You were always there for us and you'll always be with us." Wynn Jr., Charles Charles Wynn Jr. was called home on Thursday July 21, 2005. He passed on at the Crouse-Irving Hospital in Syracuse. He was 63 years of age. Charles was the son of Charles Wynn Sr. of Georgia and Marie Bridges of Liberty. He was born on April 30, 1942 in Tifton, Georgia. He was a longtime resident of Liberty and later settled in Syracuse where has lived for the past several years. Charles is survived by his mother, Marie of Liberty; two sisters of Liberty, Marjorie Covington, Brenda Bowman; a sister-in-law Ernestine Bridges of Liberty; four brothers, John Bridges, Benjamin Bridges, Arelious Bridges and Aundri Bridges all of Liberty ; brothers-in-law Douglas Bowman and Terry Covington Sr. and several nieces and nephews.
