He was 86. Donald was born on June 1, 1919 in Wallingford, Conn. to the late Edward T. Addy and Edna Vetue Addy. A veteran, he served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He was a member of the Port Jervis Lodge of Masons #328 F&AM, a past High Priest, Neversink Chapter Royal Arch Masons, a 32nd Degree Mason, State of Florida Chapter, a member of Araba Temple A.A.O.N.M.S., Fort Meyers, Fla., and a past Patron of N. Taft Chapter #46, O.E.S., Port Jervis. Survivors include two sons, Larry Addy and his wife Joan of Port Jervis, and Douglas D. Allison, a retired union carpenter and lifelong Grahamsville resident, entered into eternal rest on July 28, 2005. He was 92. Edgar was born on October 25, 1912 in the hamlet of Curry, N.Y. He was the youngest of seven children born to James and Phoebe Allison. He was predeceased by all six of his siblings. The Allison family moved to the Childs property, presently the site of the Tri-Valley Central School and Edgar spent his early years there farming and helping his father and brothers with their many building projects around the community. He loved to roam the fields and streams of the area, hunting and fishing whenever possible. He came to especially love Denman Mountain and he could entertain one for hours with his endless tales of the mountain and the people that lived there at the time. He never tired of riding up there and reliving the old days. On February 21, 1942 he was married to Alida Allen at the Grahamsville Methodist Church. They enjoyed over 63 years of married life and were completely devoted to each other for every one of them. Edgar helped construct both the Rondout and Neversink reservoirs and their accompanying tunnel systems. He worked on the original Tri-Valley School complex and was a carpenter foreman on many of the surrounding school facilities as well as many other projects. A fine example of his superior craftsmanship can be seen inside the Grahamsville Methodist Church where we can all enjoy and be proud of his efforts. He was a member of the Mongaup Masonic Lodge and was very proud of his status as a Master Mason. Edgar is survived by his wife Alida Allison at home; three children, Carl and Patricia Allison of Hurleyville, William and Janice Decker of Parksville and James and Rose Allison of Grahamsville; 11 grandchildren, Jeffrey Allison, Robin Howarth, Scott Allison, Kristopher Allison, Wendy Silvio, Laurie Grimley, William Decker Jr., James Allison Jr., Jennifer Stuart, Kevin Leland and Tracey Hussey; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was born January 10, 1925 in Roselle, NJ to the late Willard M. Burrill and Florence I. Murphy Burrill. He attended St. Joseph, St. Genevieve's (Class of 1939) and Thomas Jefferson High School (Class of 1943), both in Elizabeth, NJ. In addition, he attended the Stonier School of Banking at Rutgers in New Brunswick, NJ. He was a US Navy veteran, World War II and Korean War and was awarded the Bronze Star. Robert was a former chairman of the Warwick, NY Zoning Board of Appeals and later a Zoning Hearing Board Member in Dingman's Township, PA. He was a Past Commander and life member of the Warwick, NY VFW Post #4662. His banking career spanned over 43 years, which included 13 years as a Bank Examiner for the Federal Reserve Bank of NY. He was 91. The son of the late Burton E. and Nellie Ackerman Jones Sr., he was born on July 22, 1914 in West New York, N.J. Burt was a lifelong member of the North Congregational Church as well as having been a member of the Elks and the Orange County Golf Club. A veteran, Burt served in the US Navy during WW II. Survivors include his wife Kathleen "Babe" Jones at home; his brother Richard Jones and wife Mary of Westtown; his sister-in-law, Alice Salvato, and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Kasofsky, David David Kasofsky, a lifelong resident of Swan Lake and the founder of Warehouse Paint and Carpet, died Thursday July 28, 2005 at Catskill Regional Medical Center, Harris. He was 81. David was born in New York City on January 17, 1924, the son of Nathan and Martha Gitlin Kasofsky. He was a World War II veteran serving in the Horse Calvary in Burma, India. He had a passion for horses and animals all of his life. A family statement reads: "David started in life working on his father's farm in Swan Lake. He started mixing and selling paint out of a barn in Swan Lake in the 1950's, and later on went on to open and operate Warehouse Paint & Carpet in Liberty, a business that he never retired from. He will be remembered for his engaging sense of humor, his boyish charm and great smile. He was a tremendous supporter of human rights, always supporting the underdog. He always gave quietly, without recognition, to any person in need. His lifelong example of compassion and kindness will be remembered by all." Kasofsky, David David Kasofsky, founder of Warehouse Paint and Carpet, died Thursday, July 28, 2005 at Catskill Community Hospital. He was a lifelong resident of Swan Lake. He was 81. Mr. Kasofsky was predeceased by his wife, Breva Kasofsky. He was a tremendous supporter of human rights, always supporting the underdog. He always gave quietly, without recognition, to any person in need. Dr. Elizabeth Hofstee Van Heyst, a dentist at the Geriatric Clinic in Morinville, Canada and longtime area resident, died July 21, 2005 in Brandon, Manitoba. She was 42. The daughter of the late Thedore Hofstee and Ann Greidanus Hofstee, who survives, Elizabeth Van Heyst was born on November 10, 1962 in Port Jervis, N.Y., the youngest of eight. Raised on a dairy farm where the family processed and sold the milk they produced along with other products in a small store just outside of town. Working and helping out was a big part of life growing up on the farm. School was close by-she attended Port Jervis Public Schools. Elizabeth was always a good student, graduating as valedictorian of the class of 1980. During a summer vacation she worked at her aunt and uncle's bee farm in Edmonton, AB. Church was a distance away, attending Sussex CRC in NJ but she always was involved with the activities and in good fellowship. Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI is where Elizabeth attended college from 1980-1984. Elizabeth was accepted at Stony Brook on Long Island, NY to do her dental schooling. She did her first year of residency at the University of Saskatchewan at Saskatoon and then moved to Edmonton, AB to accept a position there. It took some doing to get her license to practice in Canada but she did and practiced until 2003 for health reasons. Elizabeth helped start Geriatric Dental Clinic at Edmonton General while she was a part-time associate with Dr. Tomita in Morinville until Geriatric Clinic became full time. She practiced part time at Westman Dental Clinic in Brandon from 1994 to 2003 while raising her boys. Elizabeth met Ted in 1990 in Edmonton at a young adults meeting and they were married on June 29, 1991. They were blessed with two sons, their firstborn Jonathan on December 27, 1993. In the spring of 1994 they made a move Brandon, MB where Ted grew up. Daniel was born there on June 1, 1997. Elizabeth devoted many hours volunteering with Christian Heritage School and an active member of Brandon, CRC. At the age of 42, Elizabeth left us on earth but her Love and Joy in the Lord is what her purpose in life was. Elizabeth wants all of us to sharte the Love and Joy-Rejoice in the Lord always again I say Rejoice!
