Charlaine Decker-O'Neil, passed away as a result of a tragic automobile accident on Monday July 25, 2005 in Naples, Fla. She was 49 years old. One of eight children, Charlaine was born to Charles Decker and Lorraine Kelly on December 27, 1955 in Middletown, N.Y. Charlaine moved to Florida to be near the beach and the palm trees, which she always loved. She worked at The Golden Gate Country Club where the guests were her friends and they all loved to visit. A family statement reads: "Charlaine was a loving and compassionate woman. She was always there for her mother, sisters, brothers, and all her beautiful friends. She worshipped the ground her mother walked on. A mother could not ask for a more loving daughter. God does everything for a reason and he needed an orchid for his garden. Charlaine "lit up the room" with her smile and her beauty. Her family and friends will miss her giving heart, kind gestures and her contagious energy. When she laughed, everyone laughed with her." She is survived by her mother, Lorraine Duryea of Middletown; two brothers, Robert Decker and his wife, Lori, of Charlotte, N.C. and David Decker of Middletown; two sisters, Jodi McKinney-Engelhardt and her husband, Eric, of Pleasant Valley and Debbie Decker of Plattsburg; as well as several nieces and loving friends who will miss her dearly, especially her good friend, Lolly, in Naples.
