Royal E. Barley of Cornwall, a retired Fire Inspector for the U.S.M.A. Fire Department at West Point, and a decorated World War II Army Air Force veteran, died Wednesday June 8, 2005 at Wingate at St. Francis Nursing Home. He was 87. The son of the late Pratt and Mary Maude Schultz Barley, he was born December 7, 1917 in Cornwall, and was the husband of Laura Antona Barley. He was a member of the American Legion Cornwall Post #353; a former Chief of the Vails Gate Fire Department from 1956 to 1958; a charter member of the Benevolent Association; a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees; a former Boy Scout Leader, Cornwall Troop #20; and member of the Cornwall Golden Age and Senior Citizens Clubs. During World War II, he served with the 2nd Flight Squadron, Foster Field, Texas. Survivors include his widow, Laura Antona Barley, at home; a son, Roy E. Barley and his wife, Sharon, of Springville, N.Y.; a granddaughter, Allison Barley, of Geneseo, N.Y.; a grandson, Matthew Barley of Springville, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Robert and Raymond Barley; and two sisters, Olive Lukacik and Elsie Chidgey. Bonnaci, Robert "Big Bob" Robert "Big Bob" Bonnaci, a lifetime resident of the area, and a retired technician for Lucent Technology, died Saturday June 11, 2005 at home. He was 58. Bob was born in Peckville, Pa. on June 23, 1946, the son of Melvern and Olive Mae Wilding Bonnaci. He was a longtime member of the Smallwood-Mongaup Valley Fire Department; Past President of Hook & Bullet Hunting Club and Eldred Rod and Gun Club, both of Smallwood; he was a former Town of Bethel Councilman; a member of the Monticello Elks Lodge #1544; a founding member of the Monticello Little League; and past member of the Bethel Planning Board. He is survived by his wife, Patricia, at home; two sons, Robert Bonnaci and his wife, Kelly, of Mongaup Valley, and William Bonnaci and his wife, Colleen, of Kauneonga Lake; one daughter, Cindy Bonnaci of Glens Falls, N.Y.; six grandchildren: Joseph, Patrick, Robert, Caitlin, Mae and Jesse Bonnaci. A lifelong resident of Port Jervis, she was born on October 27, 1918, the daughter of the late Harry Cramer and Clara Simmons Cramer. She is survived by her husband, Edward J. Kurz, Robert Robert Kurz of New Paltz, died Saturday June 11, 2005 at V.A. Hudson Valley Health Care System in Castle Point, N.Y. He was 73. The son of the late Robert and Ethel Brown Kurz, he was born May 26, 1932 in Queens, N.Y. He was a veteran in the U.S. Army and served during the Korean Conflict. Maute, Esq. of Newburgh, died suddenly on June 10, 2005 at Arden Hill Hospital. He was 62. Born on September 29, 1942 in Elizabeth, N.J. to Frederick and Margaret Learce Maute, Sr., Frederick was brought up by his mother and grandmother, and his maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Flemming, was inspirational in his life. He was a 1960 graduate of Newburgh Free Academy; he graduated from Union College with a Bachelors of Science degree in 1964; and went on to earn his Juries Doctor from Fordham University in 1969. He married Victoria Santagada of Newburgh in 1966 and they had two daughters, Emily Elizabeth and Suzanne Learce. Fred worked as an intern for Congresswoman Catherine St. George, who convinced him to run for Supervisor in the Town of Tuxedo. He was one of the youngest supervisors in Orange County history during that time. He was very active in local politics and government along with the local Bar Association. He worked in Corporate Law and Securities Law for Cadwalader, Wickersham, and Taft, Brownwood, and Merrill Lynch, then settled into his own practice in Cornwall-On-Hudson. He was an avid golfer and court tennis player at the Powelton Club and Tuxedo Club, and regularly enjoyed the opera at The Met. Survivors include his loving children, Emily Elizabeth Maute of Arlington, Va., and Suzanne Learce and husband, Scott Lord, of Garden City, Long Island; his devoted companion, Carole Seneca; loving mother, Margaret and husband, Joseph Zoldak, of Florence, S.C.; dear sister, Joyce D. Smith of Florence, S.C.; cherished grandchildren, A.J. Lord and Jack Lord; nephew, William A. Smith; and niece, Lauren Smith. Myers of Liberty, a homemaker, retired teacher and longtime area resident, died Friday June 10, 2005 at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center in Liberty, N.Y. She was 86. The daughter of the late Jerry W. and Sarah Delany Sullivan, she was born October 18, 1918 in Clayton, N.Y. Cecelia graduated from SUNY Albany, magna cum laude, within three years with her Bachelor's Degree and from SUNY New Paltz with her Master's Degree in Education. She was a communicant of St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, Liberty, N.Y.; and a member of it's Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Sullivan County Co-Op Extension; Liberty Belles; and a past president of the Liberty Central School PTA. She had taught at several local schools, including Eldred, St. Peter's and Liberty Central. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Norman H. Myers, at home; eight sons: Francis G. Myers and wife, Phyllis, of Rock Hill, S.C., Gerald N. Myers and wife, Rita, of Lewiston, Idaho, Thomas A. Myers and wife, Patricia, of Poughkeepsie, John H. Myers and wife, Robin, of Washington, Mich., Henry J. Myers of Liberty, Edward J. Myers and wife, Gloria, of Richmond, Va., William P. Myers and wife, Donna, of Pine Bush, and Michael D. Myers, Shirley Harrison Formerly of Newburgh, N.Y. Shirley Harrison Myers of Lake San Marcos, Calif. and formerly of Newburgh, peacefully passed away at home on Sunday April 17, 2005. She was the daughter of the late Ward and Priscilla Harrison. Mrs. Myers was the widow of Major Earl M. Myers. She is survived by one sister, Margo Baccaro of Newburgh. Phillips, Margaret Irene (Coffinger) Margaret Irene (Coffinger) Phillips, formerly of Saratoga Springs, passed away Saturday June 11, 2005 at The Landing in Queensbury, N.Y. Born in Schuylerville, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Ernest Abram and Julia Agnes (Sinnott) Coffinger, and was a lifelong area resident. A graduate of the Flower and Fifth Avenue Hospitals School of Nursing in New York City on November 28, 1940, she served as a Registered Nurse during her professional career. She had worked at the Saratoga Hospital maternity unit from 1941 to 1945 and at the New York State Veterans Camp at Mt. McGregor in Wilton from 1947 to 1960. She retired from the Middletown State Hospital in 1974, where she worked since 1961. She was a founding member and first vice-president of the Pine Bush Ambulance Squad in Pine Bush, N.Y. A charter den mother of Cub Scout Pack 24 in Wilton, she was a member of Boy Scout Troop 24 Women's Auxiliary. An avid golfer, she was a member of the Leisureville Golf League in Boynton Beach, Fla. Her interests included flower gardening, knitting and oil painting. She enjoyed oil painting the scenery around her second home in the Great Sacandaga Lake area, where the family summered since the early 1950's. She was married to the late Eugene E. Phillips on July 22, 1945, who passed away on September 15, 1995. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by one sister, Violet Green and two brothers, Paul and Ernest Coffinger. Survivors include two sons, Eugene Edward Phillips and his wife, Cynthia, of Wilton, and William Ernest Phillips and his wife, Joyce, of the Town of Moreau; two sisters, Julia Ernst of Schuylerville and Ann Miner of Florida; two sisters-in-law, Marian Coffinger of Salem and Mary Murray of Saratoga Springs; four grandchildren: William Phillips of Norfolk, Va., Jeffrey Phillips of Glens Falls, Keith Phillips of Malta and Katie Phillips of Clifton Park; four great-grandchildren: Jack and Matthew of Norfolk and Ethan and Benjamin of Malta; as well as several nieces and nephews. Rozboril, 88, of Binghamton, passed away Sunday June 12, 2005 at Elizabeth Church Manor. She was predeceased by William, her husband of 52 years, in 1992; her brothers, Cyril, Roland and Elwyn Small; her parents, Ethel (Small) Cook and William Small; and step-father, Jesse Cook. She is survived by a daughter, Rita Rozboril of Otisville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Lloyd and April Rozboril of Vestal, N.Y., and Eric and Mary Rozboril of Binghamton; three grandchildren: Joseph, Luke and Molly Rozboril, all of Binghamton; sister, Marie Kelly of Binghamton; sisters-in-law, Anaise Small of Castle Creek, and Ellen Small of Binghamton; also several nieces, nephews, cousins and two dear friends, Elizabeth Petrie and Joan Franklin. She began her working career at the Whitney Point Reporter as a linotype operator and worked at Vail-Ballou, Grant's Department Store, Endicott-Johnson Corp., and Elizabeth Church Manor. Juanita was a 58-year member of the Nimmonsburg United Methodist Church, where she was the organist for 30 years. She served on numerous church committees and held many offices within the United Methodist Women's Society; was a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader; a tireless volunteer for the Cancer Society and the American Heart Association; and was a member of the Hinman's Corners Fire Department Auxiliary. Juanita's hobbies included gardening, walking, reading, quilting, baking pies and cookies, watching the Yankee games, and attending the luncheons and "Box Car" games with the church's Seniors Without Partners. She also enjoyed playing the piano and accompanying Lillian Portney, who sang at local nursing homes. Mom was a kind, caring, and gentle woman; always giving and never taking. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, special grandmother, devoted sister, aunt, sister-in-law, neighbor and friend to all she met. She truly lived a Christian life and her memory will forever live in our hearts. The daughter of the late Liberto and Rosanna Cosco Raponi, she was born December 28, 1929 in Middletown, N.Y. She was a member of St. Joseph's R.C. Church and of the Catholic Daughter Society. Survivors include her husband, Jack N. Vuolo, at home; and her grandchildren: Alexandra and Matthew, both of Florida, N.Y.; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. She is also survived by an aunt and many cousins in Italy. She was predeceased by her son, Nicholas Vuolo.
