Joseph A. Cosco of Wurtsboro, a cook having retired from the Warwick Correctional Facility and the Goshen Annex, died Monday June 13, 2005 at home. He was 78. The son of the late Frank and Bernice Scumaci Cosco, he was born March 31, 1927 in Middletown, N.Y. He was the widower of Margaret Cosco. A veteran, Mr. Cosco served in the United States Navy for 23 years. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans; the Knights of Columbus #486; and the Nicholas P. Lesando Jr. American Legion Post 214 in Warwick. He was a member of the McQuoids Engine and Ladder No. 3 for 60 years. Survivors include his children: Frank Cosco and Josephine Wells, both of Middletown; and his granddaughter, Megan Wells. He is also survived by his sister, Caroline Cosco Lesando and her husband, Nicholas, of Warwick; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Sam and Peter Cosco; and his sisters, Mary Russo and Carmella Damiano. Davis, Doris Doris Davis, of Monticello, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2005 in her sleep at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center in Liberty, N.Y. She was 97 1/2 years young. She was loved by all who knew her. She was born on October 9, 1907 in Salem, Mass., the daughter of Harry & Bessie Newhouse. After coming to New York she owned one of the largest beauty parlors in Brooklyn during World War II. Later she managed a number of fine restaurants in New York City. During the summers, she lived on a 40-foot cabin cruiser in Gerritsen Beach at the Cadet Yacht Club. She was a wonderful cook and fisher lady. While on vacation 1964, she went fishing with her husband a caught a 79 lb Halibut on 15 lb test line in a 15-foot row boat. It took her two and half hours to land the biggest halibut ever. The Governor of Massachusetts gave her a signed certificate for taking this "Prized Halibut." In her later years she worked at Kaplan's Deli in Monticello with her daughter Bess Davis, who owned the famous deli. In her 80's Doris was a volunteer at the soup kitchen and put in over 3400 hours a year. She loved helping the people who came in everyday, and is still remembered by them today. Doris is survived by her loving daughter, Bess who spent everyday with Doris for the 15 years. Doris was the last surviving sibling of her family. She was predeceased by her sister: Goldie Simon and her two brothers: Al and Max Newhouse. Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Donahue, Loraine Mary Swin Loraine Mary Swin Donahue of Cornwall-On-Hudson, the "Lady of Windon Farm", died Friday June 10, 2005 at Elant at Goshen. She was 90. The daughter of the late Herbert Thomas and Ethel May Heinsen Swin of Brooklyn and Southampton, N.Y., she was born January 2, 1915 in Brooklyn. She married Dr. Michael Joseph Donahue DVM on September 23, 1939 in Stewart Manor, Garden City, N.Y. Mrs. Donahue graduated from Mount St. Vincent, Yonkers, N.Y. and was employed by the N.Y. Herald Tribune before marrying and coming to Windon Farm on July 1, 1941. Mrs. Donahue ran a very successful animal boarding and shipping kennel at Windon Farm for 53 years before retiring. She trained and showed Terriers and Danes, shipped animals for theatrical personalities and Presidential families and trained and showed horses along with her late husband, Dr. Michael Joseph Donahue DVM, a prominent Veterinarian. Mrs. Donahue and her husband were one of the founders of Cornwall's Fourth of July celebration, and hosted the festivities at their beloved Windon Farm until 1976. Mrs. Donahue was a founding member of the Village Bandstand Committee, Cornwall-On-Hudson; a member of the Casita Maria Settlement House in New York City; did much lecturing on behalf of the S.P.C.A. for kindness for animals along with her husband and children. Mrs. Donahue was a friend of the Cornwall Library for many years and helped run dog shows and horse shows for the American Red Cross and the Newburgh Lions Club, many at Windon Farm. Over the years she lent her help to a number of groups locally who sent packages from home during wartime and military conflicts - they were American Heroes and deserved our full support. Survivors include her son, Dr. Michael J. Donahue MD and his wife, Theresa, of Wilmington, N.C.; two daughters, Patricia S. and Mary E. Donahue at Windon Farm; three special granddaughters, Kristine and her husband, John Norwood of Raleigh, N.C., Stephanie and husband, Kyle Bartsch of Raleigh, N.C. and Michelle "Chelli" and husband, Benjamin Robinson, of Charlotte N.C.; five beautiful great-grandchildren: Jefferson, Emilie, Connor, Cameron and Kylie. Mary Jane Fox, a homemaker, died Wednesday June 15, 2005 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Arden Hill Campus in Goshen, N.Y. She was 88 years old. The daughter of Joseph Callahan and Mary Heinz, she was born October 13, 1916 in Brooklyn, N.Y. Residing in Cornwall and formerly of New Windsor, she was a member of Legion of Mary at St. Boniface in Elmont, N.Y. and of St. Joseph's Church in New Windsor, N.Y. She was the widow of James F. Fox, who passed away in 2000. Survivors include one son, James N. Andrew Robert Hodge died June 7, 2005 in Charlottesville, Va., after a long illness. Andy was born on March 30, 1946, in Newburgh, and had lived in the Albany area for the past 25 years. Andy graduated from Cornwall High School and attended Orange County Community College. He worked in the printing industry most of his life. He had a love for sailing, enjoyed downhill skiing and was an avid reader. Survivors include his loving parents, Andrew and Mary Hodge of Clifton Park, N.Y.; two sons, Christopher Hodge (Claudine) of Rotterdam, N.Y., and Timothy Hodge (Pamela) of Scotia, N.Y.; two brothers, Richard Hodge of Wyndham, N.Y. and Robert Hodge (Janet) of Rutland, Vt. McFadden, Dr. Cornell Dr. Cornell McFadden of Newburgh and Chapel Hill, N.C., a retired well-known physician, died peacefully on Tuesday June 14, 2005 at UNC Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill, N.C. He was 87. The son of the late Reverend Ralph and Nina May Inman McFadden, he was born November 7, 1917 in St. Louis, Mo. Dr. McFadden grew up and lived in Newburgh, where he practiced OBGYN for 33 years (1949-1982). He earned his medical degree at NYU College of Medicine in 1943; interned at the Brooklyn Hospital from 1943-1944. He then served in the Army Corps of Engineers as a Captain from 1944-1946. He completed his residency in OBGYN at Jersey City Medical Center and Bellview Hospital from 1946-1949. He was a Chief of OBGYN service for ten years and Chief of Staff (1961-1962) at St. Luke's Hospital in Newburgh, N.Y. Dr. McFadden performed many deliveries and surgical procedures at Cornwall Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Johnsie Patterson McFadden of Chapel Hill, N.C.; son, David C. McFadden and wife, Robin, and their two sons, Jake Paul Inman McFadden and Derek Cornnell McFadden, of Tuxedo Park, N.Y.; his daughter, Nancy J. Haley of Elizaville, N.Y.; and his sister, Kathleen and her husband, John Glover, of Houston. Dr. McFadden's first wife, Elizabeth (Betty) Brownlee McFadden, died of cancer in 1986 after 39 years of marriage. McKibbon, Howard Howard McKibbon, a lifelong resident of Newburgh and retired N.Y.S. Department of Transportation worker, died Monday June 13, 2005 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was 89. The son of George and Camella Shea McKibbon, he was born March 29, 1916 in Newburgh. He was a member of the Senior Citizens Club 60 in Newburgh and a regular attendee of Leptondale Bible Church in Newburgh. He proudly served his country both in the United States Navy and Army for nine years during World War II. A family statement reads: "Grandpa Cookie loved his card games and puzzles with his great grandkids. He gave us all many fond memories and he will be truly missed and remembered always with much love. God has blessed him abundantly through his long life." Truppi S.F.P., Sr. Agnetta Sr. Agnetta Truppi, S.F.P., 93, of Mt. Alverno Center in Warwick, passed away June 14, 2005 at the Schervier Pavilion in Warwick, N.Y. The daughter of the late Nicholas and Grace Manzoni Truppi, she was born November 7, 1911 in New York City, N.Y. Sr. Agnetta, a religious sister with the Franciscan Sisters of the Poor, was a Registered Nurse and a Public Health Administrator in Cincinnati, Ohio. She entered the convent on November 5, 1930 and took her final vows on November 4, 1938. This year would have been the celebration of her 75th anniversary. The daughter of the late Silvio and Maria Eanni, Josephine was born March 19, 1916 in Palata, Abruzzi, Italy. She married her beloved husband, Nicholas Valentine, in December, 1946 at Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh. Nicholas predeceased her in 1956. Josephine was a 75-year parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Newburgh, and served as a Eucharist Minister. She is survived by her loving children: Mayor Nicholas Valentine and his wife, Susan, and Maria Gaffney and her husband, Thomas, all of Newburgh; her beloved granddaughter, Nichole Culotta and her husband, Gianfranco; her great-grandson, Giovanni Paolo, all of Nutley, N.J.; brothers-in-law, Joseph, Emil and Anthony Valentine; sisters-in-law, Theresa and Grace Valentine, all of Newburgh; and nieces and nephews: Joe, Jim, Pat, Judy, Joanne, Emil, Roseanne, Sandra, Bina, Gino, Barbara and Rosemary.
