Formerly of Warwick, N.Y. Paula A. Ardizzone, of Staten Island, formerly of Warwick, died on Monday, June 20, 2005 at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Staten Island. Born Paula A. DeFrancesco in Manhattan, she also lived in the Bronx and Foxboro, Massachusetts before moving to Warwick, N.Y. She relocated to Staten Island in 1997. While in Warwick she was a sales representative for Cable T.V. in Warwick. She also enjoyed crafts, reading and spending time with her grandchildren. Her husband Edmond J. Ardizzone died 1989. She is survived by her children Paul A. and Christina A. Ardizzone; five sisters, Annmarie Tintera, Jean McWilliams, Carolyn Barbero, Edith Horton and Mary DeFrancesco; two grandchildren Emma and William Ardizzone. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence and Vincent DeFrancesco and a sister, Senzia Faughnan. Bakke, Caroline Louise Caroline Louise Bakke of Montgomery, a homemaker and 25-year area resident died Tuesday June 21, 2005, in Goshen, N.Y. She was 95. The daughter of the late Edwin and Emily Faye, she was born May 19, 1910 in Brooklyn N.Y. She was a member of St. Mary's Church and the New Horizon Senior Citizens of Montgomery. She was the widow of William A. Bakke. Survivors include her son, William A. Bakke Jr. and his wife, Barbara Jean, of Bloomingburg; daughter, Carol L. Jacob and her husband, Donald K., Sr., of Middletown; five grandchildren: Scott W. Bakke, Keith Bakke, Leanne Bakke, Donald Jacob Jr., and Richard Jacob; and five great-grandchildren: Amanda Bakke, Samantha Bakke, Emily Bakke, Eric Bakke and Ashley Myers. Cantline Jr., Peter Peter Cantline, Jr., died Tuesday June 21, 2005 at Arden Hill Hospital, Goshen, N.Y. He was 90 years old. A lifelong resident of Newburgh, he was born May 25, 1915, the son of the late Judge Peter and Edith Whitehill Cantline. He was an avid hiker and an employee of Central Hudson Gas and Electric Company, as a gas engineer for 41 years, in Newburgh and Poughkeepsie. He was a graduate of Cornell University and a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. A member of St. George's Episcopal Church, he was warden emeritus; served on the vestry for many years; and also on several Diocesan Committees. He has been a member of the National Temple Hill Association Board of Directors for many years; a former director and trustee of the Newburgh YMCA; served on the YMCA International Committee; was active in the YMCA World Service Program; and was a former chairman of the United Way. A world traveler, he participated in YMCA Statesmanship trips to countries of unusual interest and in Cornell University study trips, its summer university; and was active in alumni affairs. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #309; the American Gas Association; Society of Gas Operators; the Adirondack Mountain Club; the Historical Society of Newburgh Bay and Highlands; the Orange County Historical Society; and was active in the Newburgh Friends of the Library, and Friends of Downing Park. He was also a former member of the Board of the St. Luke's Hospital Foundation. Survivors include his widow, Elizabeth Owens Cantline; a daughter, Mary Owens Cantline of St. Regis Falls, N.Y.; one son, Peter Robert Cantline of New Paltz; a granddaughter, Lindsay Cantline; a sister, Mary Passenger of Newburgh; a niece, Edith Passenger Root and her husband, John; a grandnephew, Christopher Root and his wife, Linda, of Washington, D.C., and their son, Connor; and several other nieces and nephews. The son of Thomas Dougherty and Elizabeth Meyer, he was born June 8, 1933in Mineola, N.Y. Formerly a 40-year resident of Hopewell Junction, he was an Electrical Engineer for IBM in East Fishkill, N.Y. who retired on March 1, 1992. He received a BS Degree from Clarkson University and an MS Degree from Syracuse University. An instructor in Amateur Radio, he was a member of the Poughkeepsie Amateur Radio Club, and the Mt. Beacon Amateur Radio Club. He was a member of Wallkill Reformed Church. He was predeceased by his first wife, Marjorie Mower in 1976. He is survived by his wife, Lola Walker (Tyner) Dougherty, whom he married on July 6, 1979 in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; daughter, Jennifer Baxter and husband, Al, of Palmyra, N.Y.; step-son, Victor Tyner and wife, Donna, of Wallkill; step-daughter, Michelle Tyner Downing and husband, Steven Alderson of Morristown, N.J.; and grandchildren: Jeffrey and Evan Baxter and Matthew and Jonathan Tyner. DuBois, Lavinia Cluett Lavinia Cluett DuBois of Delray Beach, Fla. died Saturday June 18, 2005. She was 100. The daughter of the late George and Adelia Peabody Cluett, she was born September 2, 1904 in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. In 1924 she married Martin Lee DuBois of New Paltz, the son of Philip and Rose DuBois. She came to live as a bride at the DuBois family homestead, built in 1836, on Butterville Road in New Paltz. She later settled in Boca Raton, Fla. and spent her years since 1978 at Abbey Delray in Delray Beach, Fla. Her only, much-loved child, who died in 2002, was Joanne DuBois, married to Thomas Ramsey. Lavinia's three grandchildren: Susan Ramsey, Paul Ramsey and Philip Ramsey survive her; as do her eight great-grandchildren. Her son-in-law, Thomas Ramsey and her nephew, Henry Lumb and his wife, Joan, also survive her. Lavinia was a graduate of New Paltz Normal School and was an experienced traveler. As an avid birdwatcher she kept life lists. She sang with the Songbirds group, and was an elegant hostess. Everyone who knew her will miss her gracious manner and many kindnesses. Mr. Hollberg was Chief Test Engineer for manufacturing at ITT Avionics in Clifton, N.J., when he retired in 1986. Born in Newburgh, N.Y., he completed public schools there, then served in the US Navy as an electronics technician on the submarine tender, USS Orion, following electronics training at Great Lake IL and Washington, D.C. Mr. Hollberg graduated from New York University, College of Engineering with a BSEE in 1952 and joined ITT Avionics, then known as Federal Telephone and Radio Corp. in Clifton. He worked in the Test Engineering Department for 34 years in many capacities. He was involved in the design of testing facilities for LORAN, TACAN, Dragon, Faxpac and various ECM equipments made by the division. He helped introduce computer-controlled automated testing techniques in the Clifton manufacturing facility. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; son, David W.; two daughters, Karen L., and Constance A. Friedman; and five grandchildren, Stephanie Lynn, Tyler Andrew and Emily Rose Friedman and Samantha Kelsey and Jillian Paige Hollberg. The daughter of the late George and Anna Hartmann Wendt, she was born January 22, 1938 in Milanville, Pa. She was married to Ralph Huebner for 48 years. Inez was a former Girl Scout leader and a member of the Tusten Settlement Association; the RSVP Office of the Aging; and the Tusten Senior Citizens. Koskella, Lucretia Canade 1928-2005 Lucretia, mother, sister, aunt, activist and humanist, passed away peacefully Monday June 20, 2005 after a long illness. Daughter of Vincent Canade, the first Italian-American supervisor for Orange County, she upheld his proud tradition of public service. She served the Orange County Republican Committee in the roles of Committee-woman and as a member of the executive board. From 1980 to 1996 she served as a publicist for Republican Senate Campaigns but did not neglect local politics at the grass-roots level where she served as a campaign manager for many local politicians. The Hudson Valley, in her well-traveled eyes, was the most beautiful place on earth. As an advocate for the environment and the Hudson Valley she was a charter member and organizer of Scenic Hudson, a member of C.L.E.A.N. Chadwick Lake and served to help numerous investigations into local environmental pollution. An advocate of the rights of all women, she was a member of the National Organization of Women, the Orange County Chapter of the New York Federation of Women and the National Museum of Women in the Arts, New York. Lucretia embraced life fully and loved to swim, golf, shoot skeet and held an active membership in the NRA. Many will remember her through her occupation as a real estate broker and appraiser. She is survived by her daughter, Judith Challis and son-in-law, Daniel Challis, as well as two sisters, Mary Canade and Anita Cosman, and brother-in-law, David. She will also be remembered by her many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. We thank her for bringing joy to our lives in so many ways. Powell, of Cornwall-On-Hudson, formerly of Norfolk, Va., died at home on June 5, 2005. He was 92. He was born on January 11, 1913 in Woodbury, Ga. He worked as a heavy duty equipment mechanic and operator at the Norfolk Naval Base for 31 years. He was a member of the Masonic Order, Ruth Lodge 89 F & AM in Norfolk, Va. and Past Master in 1973. He is survived by a son, William R. Powell (Patty) of Cornwall-On-Hudson and a daughter, Linda Lewellyn (John) of Montrose, MI; four grandchildren, Scott D. Powell (Danielle) of Washingtonville, Dorianne R. Lownsbury (Timothy) of Wilmington, MA, Melissa A. Lewellyn of Flint, MI and John Dixon Lewellyn (Kim) of Burton, MI; stepson Richard Smith (Margaret) of Richmond; stepdaughter, Nancy Boone (Roy) of Shipman, Va.; and three sisters, Maie Causey, Celeste Powell and Nellie Coley all residing in Georgia. He was predeceased by a son, H.D. Powell Jr.; his first wife Robbie L. Long; his second wife Mabel S. Turner; and three brothers, Clifford, Reid and Leonard all of Georgia. Rappina of Highland Mills, N.Y., a seamstress in New York City in the garment district, and homemaker, died Monday June 20, 2005 at Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown, N.Y. She was 92. The daughter of the late Alexander Marino and Angelina Vega Marino, she was born in New York City, N.Y. on February 17, 1913. She was the widow of Frederick M. Rappina. Tessie was a member of St. Patrick's Church in Highland Mills, and the Woodbury Golden Agers in Highland Mills. A family statement reads: "She was a very loving, caring, and family oriented individual. She was a strong, loving parent and grandparent. She touched the heart of many and will be greatly missed." Survivors include her son, Frederick C. Rappina and his wife, Phyllis, of Wurtsboro; daughter, Carole A. Canale of Highland Mills; grandchildren: Joseph, Stephanie, Frederick and Jeffrey; two great-grandsons, David and Alexander; two faithful, dedicated friends, Paula and Ralph; and several nieces and nephews. Born in Newark, NJ, he was the son of the late Joseph C. and Anna R. (Schuler) Walter. He was a former resident of Warwick before moving to Treasure Island, Florida. He was married to the late Elizabeth (Davenport) Walter. A brother, Joseph C. Walter, Jr., predeceased him. He is survived by a son, Joe Walter, of Warwick, NY; daughter, Susan Black of St. Petersburg, Florida; granddaughter, Laura Walter; three grandsons: Thomas and Peter Walter and Dennis Black. A memorial mass will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday at St. Stephens RC Church, Warwick. Interment of cremains will follow in Warwick Cemetery.
