She was 71. The daughter of the late Edward Havre and Viola Bjork Havre, she was born November 19, 1933 in Manhattan, N.Y. She was the widow of Enrico A. Carpentieri. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Monroe; former member of Sacred Heart Church in Suffern; and former 30-year resident of Suffern. Survivors include her sons, Michael T. Carpentieri of Monroe, Robert Carpentieri of Monroe; daughter, Rita Carpentieri of Suffern; three grandchildren. Edelhertz, Rachel Rachel Edelhertz, a homemaker, died Wednesday, June 22, 2005 at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York, N.Y. She was 91. The daughter of Samuel Melamed and Ida Diamond, she was born January 3, 1914 in Manhattan, N.Y. Survivors include her son, Melvyn Edelhertz and wife Helaine of Middletown; five grandchildren, Dana Williams and husband J.R. of Fuquet Varina, N.C., Tracy Edelhertz of Maui, Allyson Peltier and husband David of Queens, Dustin Edelhertz of Queens, Shayne Edelhertz of Maui; daughter-in-law, Nancy Edelhertz of Maui; two sisters, Pauline Melamed of Queens and Sally Asch and husband Herbert of Queens; two brothers, Marty Melamed and wife Estelle of Queens and Hy Melamed and wife Barbara of Brooklyn. Published in the Times Herald-Record on 6/24/2005. Murray, Joseph E. Joseph E. Murray, a 43-year area resident, died Tuesday, June 21, 2005 at his residence. He was 82. Joseph was born on June 23, 1922 in Albany, N.Y. to the late James R. Murray and Hazel Kilroy Murray. He was a graduate of Siena College, Class of 1947 and the University at Albany where he received a Master's Degree in 1961. He taught French for many years and retired from Monroe-Woodbury High School in Central Valley. He served in the Army and is a combat veteran. During World War II, he was in the 5th Infantry, and during the Korean War, in the 8th Calvary. He attained the rank of Lt. Colonel before retiring from the Army Reserves. He was active in the Reserve Officers Association and was President of the Orange County Chapter from 1986 to 1992. He was also a member of the West Point Retirees Council. He was a past member of the Newburgh Civic Players. Survivors include his brothers, James R. Murray of Albany N.Y., John G. Murray of Berlin, Md., nieces and nephews, Nikko Carman and Rika Murray of Albany, N.Y., James R. Murray, Jr. of Canton, Mass., Kateri Murray of Fairfax, Calif., and Shawn Murray of Berlin, Md. Naclerio, of Newburgh, a landscaper, died June 16, 2005 in Newburgh. He was 29. The son of Andrew W. Weygant and Theresa Ann Naclerio, he was born October 12, 1975 in Newburgh. Olson, of Warwick, formerly Elmira, MI, died on June 20, 2005 at Elant at Goshen after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease. He was 80 years old. Born on December 10, 1924 in Cadillac, MI, he was the son of the late Gaile and Leah Thompson Olson. He served in World War II in the Army Air Corp as a navigator on a B-17. His plane was shot down over Germany and he was held as a POW for nine months. On his return home, he earned a mathematics degree at Michigan State and married his sweetheart, the late Antoinette Marie Guthan Olson. Charles was a retired Systems Analyst who worked for 35 years for General Motors in Detroit, MI. He moved to Warwick, after the passing of his beloved wife of 51 years. Survivors include his daughter, Judith Olson and her husband Frank Gualdoni of Rockford, IL; his sons, Charles F. Olson Jr. (Chip) of Centerline, MI and Kevin M. Olson and his wife Alice of Warwick; three grandsons: Jeremy and Alec Gualdoni and Jared Olson. Also survived by nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Barbara Swope of Marion, IN and his brother, Gaile (Red) Olson of Olympia Field, IL. Plantamura, Helen Pearl Helen Pearl Plantamura, of Warwick, formerly Oradell, N.J., died on June 20, 2005 at Schervier Pavilion. She was 85 years old. Born on February 17, 1920 in Miami, Arizona, she was the daughter of Michael and Mary Basich. She was married to the late Frank Plantamura. A former model, she was the co-owner of the Dairy Queen in Emerson, N.J. She is survived by two daughters, Carla Plantamura and her husband, Gregory Wallace, of Warwick, and Toni Rossi and her husband, Robert, of Washington Township, N.J.; three grandchildren: Candis Cruse and her husband, Edward of Middletown, Daryl Rossi of Washington Township, N.J., and Douglas Plantamura of Warwick; and her sister, Ann Wilbur of Sacramento, Calif. Sosler, retired proprietor of Sosler Automotive Sales and Service, Middletown, N.Y., and a life-long area resident, died Tuesday, June 21, 2005 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Middletown, N.Y. He was 80. William, the son of the late John and Elizabeth Greener Sosler, was born in Florida, N.Y. on August 17, 1924. He was a Communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel RC Church, Middletown, a member of the Knights of Columbus, Middletown. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force and is a Veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Stanton, Leo Leo Stanton, a lifelong resident of Sullivan County, died unexpectedly Wednesday June 22, 2005 at Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. He was 46. Mr. Stanton was born in Monticello on June 23, 1958 to the late Irving Walter and Marie Whipple Stanton. He is survived by three brothers Preston Stanton of Monticello, Vincent Stanton of Liberty and Chester Stanton of Harris; seven sisters Inda Castillo and Elaine Saenz of Harris, Eva Eguisquiza of Monticello, Evelyn Forshay of Harris, Laura Stewart of Bradley and Valerie Manthorne and Belinda Van Gordon, both of Monticello; several nieces, nephews and cousins. The eldest son of the late Giuseppe and Antoinette Miragliotta Tornatore, he was born on June 10, 1920 in Altoona, PA. Andrew was a proud veteran of the United States Army Air Corps, 910th Air Engineering Squadron and served dutifully in World War II. He was the recipient of the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, The World War II Victory Medal, and the American Service Medal. He retired from the Ford Motor Company, and Amscan, Inc. He was a member of St. Columba R.C. Church. A family statement reads: Andrew/Dad is a gracious loving man, with a zest for living life to the fullest, strong in faith in God, and a great unconditional love for his family, friends and country. He believed in peace, freedom, and family and treasured the beauty they brought to his life. He is truly a great man who will live on through all he loved. Tulve, Mary Louise Mary Louise Tulve, of Newburgh, a retired teachers aide for the Newburgh School District, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2005 at home. She was 81. Daughter of the late Anthony and Florence Griffin Ryan, she was born in Marlboro, N.Y. on July 29, 1923. She married Thomas J. Tulve on April 29, 1943 in St. Patrick's Church, Newburgh, who survives at home. Mary was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy and a parishioner of St. Patrick's Church, Newburgh. A family statement reads, "Mom was a very loving, caring, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. The generosity and love she bestowed upon her family will be missed." Verdi, Catherine Catherine Verdi of Newburgh died suddenly on June 21, 2005 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital. She was 62. She was born on January 19, 1943 in Beacon, N.Y. to the late George and Elizabeth Hunt Smith. Catherine graduated from Beacon High School in 1961 and went on to Dutchess County Community College to earn her RN Degree in 1965. She has worked as a Registered Nurse for St. Francis Hospital, Castle Point Veterans Hospital and most recently at St. Luke's Hospital. On October 28, 1981 she married Daniel Verdi in Newburgh, N.Y. Survivors include her devoted husband, Daniel Verdi of Newburgh; loving brother, Norman Smith of North Carolina; dear sisters, Laurel Wiley of Beacon, and Marion Thomas of Glenon; brother-in-law, Marcos and his wife, Blanca Verdi, of Newburgh; a sister-in-law, Aida and her husband, Lujan Guevara, of Newburgh; her dear god-daughter, Stephanie Marrero; and numerous nieces and nephews. Wiegman, Margaret M. "Peggy" Margaret M. "Peggy" Wiegman, of Liberty, a homemaker, retired advertising agent and area resident for over 20 years, died Wednesday, June 22, 2005 at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center in Liberty. She was 86. The daughter of the late Anthony and Mary Mutlick Lenich, she was born September 4, 1918 in the Bronx, one of six children. Peggy had worked for J. Walter Thompson Advertising in Manhattan for many years. She retired early and moved to Sullivan County in 1984 to care for her mother. Peggy was president of St. Paul's Senior Club, a member of the Office of the Aging Advisory Committee (RSVP), Village Housing Board for Senior Citizens, an associate member of the Town of Liberty Volunteer Ambulance Corp., President of the American Legion Post #109 Auxiliary. She had also worked for the Town of Liberty Highway Dept., along with volunteering in many other places. She was a communicant of St. Peter's R.C. Church in Liberty where she was a Eucharistic Minister, a lecturer, member of the Catholic Daughters and the Rosarians. Survivors include a son, Gregory Finnegan of Swan Lake; a daughter, Diane Finnegan of Liberty; a sister, Elizabeth Kennedy and husband Lawrence of Bronx; a brother Frank Lenich of Bronx; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday (today) June 24 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Harris Funeral Home, West Street at Buckley, Liberty.
