Richard A. Benton, a lifetime Liberty resident and retired owner of Sureway Taxi in Liberty, passed away on Friday March 11, 2005, at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, NJ. He was 75. Dick was the son of Ichabod and Edith Bruno Benton and was born on May 2, 1929 in Liberty. He was a longtime member of Sullivan County Golf and Country Club. Mr. Benton was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Bruno, a retired chauffeur with the New York City Parks Department, died Wednesday March 9, 2005 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. He was 79. The son of the late Anthony Bruno and Mary Aliano, he was born in Brooklyn on September 8, 1925. Much of his life was spent in Brooklyn until he recently relocated to Monticello. Mr. Bruno was a proud Veteran of the armed forces, serving as a Lance Corporal in World War II in the United States Marine Corps. Mac Avery of Fishkill, formerly of Glenham, passed peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on Friday March 11, 2005. She was 70 years of age. Daughter of the late George and Cecilia Dempsey Laidlaw, she was born September 24, 1934 in Utica, N.Y. She married the love of her life, Robert W. Mac Avery, on June 19, 1960 at St. Joachim's Church in Beacon. They would have celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary this year. Beverly attended Beacon schools, first attending St. Joachim's and going on to graduate from Beacon High School. She went on to become a secretary for the Texaco Research Company in Glenham, where she remained for ten years. "She then dedicated her time to raising a family. Her family was of the most importance to her. She gave all her love. Her caring and giving was above and beyond. We will miss her deeply." Mrs. Mac Avery was a former parishioner of St. Joachim's Church. She most recently belonged to St. Mary's Church in Fishkill. Besides her loving husband, Robert, she leaves behind her son, Robert E. Mac Avery of Fishkill; her daughters, Kathleen M. Bucci and her husband, Anthony, of Montgomery, and Lynn A. The daughter of Percy Hamm and Mary Ann (Storm) Hamm, she was born June 27, 1905 in Catskill, N.Y. She was a member of the Upton Lake Grange in Clinton Corners; a member of the Netherwood Baptist Church since 1940; and served as the Sunday School Superintendent. She was the widow of Harvey J. Mills, whom she married in 1920 in the Methodist Church in Newburgh. He predeceased her on March 27, 1991. Survivors include her son, Martin Mills and his wife, Jeanne, of Poughkeepsie; 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Charles Mills of Canton, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews. Morehouse, Rosemary D. Rosemary D. Morehouse died March 11, 2005, after a long illness, at St Mary's Hospital, Richmond, Va. Rosemary, born in Oneonta, NY, was a longtime resident of Wurtsboro, where after a full life as mother and homemaker, she began her career as a banker with the Bank of New York. Retiring in 1988, she and her husband, Perry, moved to Fripp Island, SC, where she enjoyed entertaining and playing golf. In 2002, because of illness, they moved to Midlothian, Va., to be close to family. Rosemary was the loving wife of Perry, Jr. of Midlothian, Va.; devoted mother of Perry III of Burke, Va. and Thomas of Washingtonville; grandmother to Joshua of Arlington, Va. and sister to Josephine Heineke of Vincennes, Ind. Born April 29, 1924 in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of Max Grossman and Rose Regov Grossman. She was predeceased by her husband, Rubin, and a son, Michael. After a long career at Lord Electric in Manhattan, Belle retired to her home in Mountaindale. She was active in the South Fallsburg Senior Citizens Group and enjoyed winters in Florida. She is survived by her son, David of Rock Hill, daughter-in-law, Beverly of Woodridge and grandchildren, Randi of Los Angeles and Adam of New York City. Graveside services will be held on Sunday, March 13 at New Montefiore Cemetery in Farmingdale, Long Island. He was the son of the late Anthony and Jennie Inanella and was born on March 15, 1910 in Brooklyn, NY. He was Town of Neversink Supervisor from 1953 to 1975. He was also Chairman of the Board of Supervisors from 1970 to 1975. He also served as Justice of the Town of Neversink from 1951 to 1953. He was an active member of his community. He was a member of the Grahamsville United Methodist Church; a charter member of Neversink Fire Department and a charter member of the Neversink First Aid Squad; a 62 year member of Liberty Lodge #521 F&AM and a longtime member of Sullivan County Golf and Country Club. Survivors include a son, Harry J. Raffa and his wife, Audrey, of Little Falls, NY; a daughter, Joan Langdon and her husband, Edward, of Lake Katrine; two brothers, Anthony and Dominick Raffa; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The daughter of the late Guiseppe Pistoia and the late Maria Elia, she was born June 16, 1910 in Morristown, N.J. Margherita lived with her husband and family in Magisano, Italy for 40 years before returning to the U.S. in 1962. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Joseph's R.C. Church in Middletown. A family statement reads: "She was a gentle woman of strong faith. A special mother and "nonna" who was devoted to her family and church. She will forever be in our hearts."
