Fallsburg, died on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at the Achieve Rehabilitation & Nursing Home. She was 99. The daughter of Jimmy and Elizabeth Blaine, she was born on November 11, 1905 in Baltimore, Maryland. Julia later moved to Mt. Claire, NJ with her mother. In 1948 she became a Sullivan County resident, and worked at the Windsor Hotel for Mr. Sussman. She is survived by her devoted niece, Edna Coleman; one nephew, Jerome; and seven other nieces, Beatrice, Bertha, Frances, Olivia, Florence, Myrtle, and Mary. Julia was predeceased by her husband Hammie Royster; a special friend, Joseph A. Kearn; and eight sisters, Beatrice, Bertha, Frances, Olivia, Florence, Myrtle, Edna, and Mary. Fasolo, Philip Philip Fasolo, of Millsboro, Del., passed away on March 13, 2005 at the age of 73. The son of Victor and Carmela Fasolo, he was born April 11, 1931 in Sloatsburg, N.Y. A former 31 year Sloatsburg and 31 year Tuxedo resident, Philip was an Army veteran of the Korean War; past commander of the Tuxedo American Legion; a member of the Millsboro American Legion; a member of the Italian Heritage Club in Millsboro, Del. and was retired from Avon Products after 38 years with the company. He is survived by his wife Erna (Hall); two children, Donna and her husband, John Letchford, and Philip and his wife, Kari Fasolo; four grandchildren: Shane (10) and Zachary (8) Letchford and Jacob and Caleb Fasolo, 14-month twins; two brothers, John and his wife, Vera Fasolo, of Warwick, and Victor and his wife, Barbara Fasolo, of Tuxedo; and one sister, Margaret and her husband, Pete Smith, of Monsey, N.Y.; three nieces, one nephew and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Furman, Emma Emma Furman, of Grahamsville, a homemaker and a lifelong area resident, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, March 16, 2005 at the Roscoe Community Nursing Home in Roscoe. She was 98. The daughter of the late Harvey and Ethalinda Mandeville Van Wagner, she was born March 6, 1907 in Port Jervis. Emma graduated from Port Jervis High School and Pratt Institute of Dress Design. Before marriage to her husband Vans, she worked in the Port Jervis Silk Mill. After marriage she was a hard working farm wife and she drove a school bus for a number of years. She was a 76-year member of the Order of Eastern Star River Valley Chapter #33 of Port Jervis, N.Y. and an adopted member of Revonah-Lincoln-Kiamesha Chapter #443 of Liberty, N.Y.; a member of the Sullivan County Historical Society, the Tri-Valley FFA Alumni Association and the Claryville Reformed Church. She was one special lady to many people, family and friends and will be missed very much. Gleich, Lawrence (Larry) Lawrence (Larry) Gleich, a lifelong resident of the area, and the retired office manager for A. Alport & Sons in South Fallsburg, passed away March 17, 2005 in the Skilled Nursing Unit of Catskill Regional Medical Center. He was 87. The son of the late Gussie and Charles Gleich, he was born December 5, 1917 in Brooklyn, N.Y. He lived in South Fallsburg, where he graduated from high school and was a member of the South Fallsburg Synagogue for many years. Larry was a corporal with the 7th Armored Division of the Unites States Army and served overseas during World War II. Larry volunteered countless hours with his wife, Frances, at Sullivan County ARC's Rose Valley, where they both were honored as Volunteers of the Year in 1996. He also expended much energy delivering Meals on Wheels for the Sullivan County Office of the Aging, and served on the Board of the Senior Citizen Legislative Committee. He received many awards and citations commemorating time and effort spent volunteering his time. He was married to Frances Kriegman Gleich for 62 years. Their marriage leaves a legacy of unconditional love. (Aunt Ruth) Ruth B. Iwanowski (Aunt Ruth), of Highland Mills, died Wednesday March 16, 2005 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Horton Campus. She was 89 years of age. A native of Bronx, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late John and Emma Bruckner, and the widow of George Moore, who died in 1962, and Carl Iwanowski, who died in 1997. While never having children of her own, Ruth is survived by a multitude of family - almost one hundred members. She had that magical gift to make each one of us feel special. She never stopped loving or giving - even in her golden years. Knob, Stella Price Stella Price Knob, of Goshen, N.Y., died on March 16, 2005 at Arden Hill Hospital after a long illness. She was 82 years old. A lifelong resident of the area, she was born December 19, 1922. Stella was the daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine Price of Chester, N.Y. She is survived by two sons, George F. Knob Jr. and Bruce Knob as well as her sister, Helen Purcell of Goshen. She leaves several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Knob was predeceased by her husband George F. Knob Sr. and by brothers Michael Price, Frank Price, Joseph Price, Walter Price, John Price and Stanley Price; her sisters, Anna Price, Agnes Price and Julia Price Heater. Stella was an active member of St. John's R.C. Church and was very much involved in the children's choir. She participated in the adult folk group, the Alter Rosary Society, the CYO and was a weekly volunteer at St. John's bingo games. Stella served as a lector in the church service and was an active volunteer for Hospice of Orange County. Mrs. Knob was a retiree of the Or. Co. Dept. of Social Services, having worked for 27 years as a senior account clerk. Porter, of Hurleyville, and retired carpet installer of 43 years for D & M Furniture in Ellenville, passed away on Wednesday March 16, 2005, surrounded by his loving family at Wilson Memorial Hospital in Johnson City, N.Y. He was 77. The son of the late Edo and Lula Terwilliger Porter, he was born June 4, 1927 in the Town of Thompson. Richard was a VFW member and a World War II veteran, serving with the U.S. Army in Japan. He studied Farming in his 1st Calvary Brigade School, Camp McGill, Japan. He was then assigned to the distinguished 5th Calvary Regimen as a supply sergeant in Service Troop and received a Victory Medal. After retiring, Richard did side carpet jobs and kept busy working on his house and in his garden. He enjoyed getting together with family and friends, often challenging a game of pool. His home was open to many friends and even strangers that had no place else to go, giving them food and shelter and helping them until they could get on their feet. Everyone he met became a cherished friend. He will be missed by those who knew him. Renaud, Jr., a longtime resident of Marlboro, passed away on Wednesday March 16, 2005 at the Kingsbridge VA Hospital, Bronx, N.Y. He was 87. "Pete" was born in Brooklyn on January 9, 1918, the son of the late Dr. Pierre Renaud and Mrs. Elizabeth Hallahan Renaud. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1941-1945 as a Naval Pilot. Due to the loss of one eye, he was retired from active service June, 1945. After the war, he taught college Biology at the newly developed emergency 2 year college at Plattsburg, N.Y. for three years. He taught Biology in Maybrook, N.Y. for one year and then moved to Marlboro, where he taught Science and History for 20 years in the Marlboro School District. He loved all music, but his main love was classical music. He is survived by his wife, Marie Zuzze Renaud, at home; his sons, Pierre Renaud III of Marlboro, Jean Paul Renaud of Marlboro, and Marc Renaud and his wife, Sonia, of Florida; his daughters, Pamela McCourt and her husband, Dennis, of Marlboro, Marguerite Renaud of Virginia, and Laura Renaud of Marlboro; as well as his grandchildren: Mark and Kate McCourt, Christopher, Jean-Pierre and Eliza Renaud, Justin, Ethan and Patrick Renaud and Matthew "Mac" and Luke Mahan; and great-grandchildren: John, Brendon and Liam Berchtold. A family statement reads, "Ruth was always a diligent person and hardworker. She was talented with her hands and enjoyed making crafts for her and her family. She will be forever missed by her loving husband, children, grandchildren, and her faithful companion, Fluffy." Ruth is survived by her husband, Adrian, at home; one son, Harold W. Schulhof, Joseph Joseph Schulhof, a 50 year Middletown resident and retired engineer with Orange & Rockland Utilities in Middletown, N.Y., died Wednesday March 16, 2005, at O.R.M.C., Horton Campus, Middletown, N.Y. He was 101. The son of Paul Schulhof and Matilda Reichman Schulhof, he was born September 18, 1903 in Cesky Brod, Czechoslovakia. Joseph escaped the Nazis in Czechoslovakia in 1940, and fled to China with no position or resources. He found employment with a Swiss firm in Tientsin, where he became a leader of the Jewish community. Joseph emigrated to the United States in November of 1948 and became employed by the Rockland Light and Power Company in 1954. He retired from Orange & Rockland Utilities as an engineer in 1970. Joseph was a member and past president of Temple Sinai; member of The Founding Board of the Jewish Federation of Orange County; member of the Founding Board of the Hebrew Day School of Orange County; delegate from Temple Sinai to the Inter-Faith Council of Greater Middletown; vice-president of the Metropolitan New York Region of United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism; and member of the Men's Club of Temple Sinai. He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Charlotte Poras Schulhof, at home; his son, Peter Schulhof and his wife, Carol, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Julia Schulhof of Brooklyn, and Paul Schulhof and his wife, Dr. Nathalie Casau, of Brooklyn. Sullivan, Raymond John Raymond John Sullivan, a telephone technician for Western Electric, and 47 year area resident, entered into rest on Wednesday March 16, 2005 at Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla, N.Y. He was 74. The son of the late Raymond and Dorothy Bill Sullivan, he was born September 11, 1930 in Newark, N.J. Raymond was a Little League coach in New Windsor; a basketball coach at Leptondale Bible Church in the Town of Newburgh; and a basketball coach and deacon at the Ridgecrest Baptist Church in New Windsor. Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Janet Durner Sullivan, at home; four children: William Sullivan and his wife, Linda, of Wallkill, Laurie Sullivan and her husband, Carlos Ruiz, of Fords, N.J., James Sullivan and his wife, Julia, of Rochester, N.Y., and Leann Sullivan of New Windsor; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was 76. The daughter of the late Joseph Bott and Pauline Mink Bott, she was born July 23, 1928 in Forestburg, N.Y. She was a member of St. Mary's R.C. Church.
