He was 81. The son of the late Lloyd Boykin and Lillian Smith Boykin, he was born May 8, 1923 in Clinton, N.C. Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 49 years, Bettie Beamon Boykin, at home; three sons: Tommy Odell Boykin of Miami, Fla., Mack Junior Boykin and Pierre Andre Boykin; one daughter, Betty Headspeth; and a sister, Sally Boykin, all of Newburgh; 12 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held on Wednesday March 23, 2005 from 5-7 PM at Mt. Carmel Church of Christ Disciples of Christ, 1528 Route 300, Newburgh, N.Y., with funeral services to begin at 7:00 PM. Favoino, a lifetime resident of Newburgh and former Mason Contractor for many years in the Newburgh area before retiring from the Housing Office at the USMA, West Point, entered into rest Saturday, March 19, 2005 in St. Luke's Hospital, Newburgh. He was 87. Son of the late Angelo and Dora Mazzarelli Favoino, he was born October 20, 1917 in Newburgh. He was married to the late Joyce Andrews Favoino, who predeceased him in 1993. Mr. Favoino proudly served his country in the US Army during World War II, where he received the American Defense Service Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the Philippines Liberation Ribbon. He was an active member of his community, serving for the Knights of Columbus 444, 4th Degree, life member of the National PTA, charter member of Newburgh Civic Theater, Cub master for Pack 5 of Newburgh, past Camping and Activities Chairman for the Hudson/Delaware Council for BSA, served as district representative for the NYS Community Theater Assn., member of Order of the Arrow for the BSA, Silver Beaver Recipient, member of Catholic War Veterans of Sacred Heart Church where he also served as past vice chairman, was a life member of the Salvation Army Advisory Board where he also served as past chairman, and was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church. Survivors include two sons, Vincent H. "Mickey" Favoino and his wife Barbara of Newburgh, and Charles K. Favoino and his wife Patricia of New Windsor; his sister, Lauretta Rich of St. Petersburg, FL; three grandchildren, Amanda, Jennifer and Heather Favoino; nieces Janie Conway, Sue Favoino, and Dolores Tooley; and several cousins and numerous friends. He was predeceased by a sister, Frances Favoino and a brother, Albert Favoino. Gildersleeve, Howard "Sonny" Howard "Sonny" Gildersleeve, a laborer of Mountaindale, died peacefully with his family around him in Liberty on Saturday March 19, 2005. He was 77. He was the son of Howard and Olga Ackerley Gildersleeve. He was born April 19, 1927 in Ferndale, N.Y. Howard was a way cool guy. He was just a great guy and very quick witted. He loved games of chance and was very competitive. He was a good farmer who enjoyed making maple syrup, canning and pickling food. He was a great laborer and hard worker. He was a member of AARP and NRA. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Survivors include his long time companion/ex-wife, Marlene Ross, and their daughter, Serena Gildersleeve of Liberty; the mother of his children and friend, Anne Davis of Neversink and their four children: Carol Houghtailing and her husband, Jim, of Willowemac; Howard Gildersleeve and his wife, Karen, of Neversink, Michael Gildersleeve and his wife, Karen, of Unidilla and Olga Avery of Neversink; ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother, Thomas Gildersleeve; and one sister, Carmela Hitt. Robert R. Holbrook, a retired equipment operator for the New York State Thruway Authority in Harriman, N.Y., died Friday March 18, 2005, at Orange Regional Medical Center, Middletown, N.Y. He was 67. The son of the late Charles Holbrook and Mae Summers Holbrook, he was born September 27, 1937 in Suffern, N.Y. He was the widower of Lorraine F. Slicker Holbrook. Moe Oretsky, of Hallandale Beach, Florida, formerly of South Fallsburg, N.Y., passed away on March 17 at age 90. He is survived by his wife Mary, daughter Diane and husband Leonard Rosenblum, granddaughter Andrea and husband Ari Bernstein, sister Betty Glatzer and nieces and nephews. (Dusenbury) Hudson, age 84, died Saturday March 19, 2005 at Chilton Memorial Hospital in Pequannock Township. Mrs. Hudson was born September 14, 1920 in Hackensack, N.J., the daughter of the late William H. and Kate A. (Schuler) Dusenbury. She lived in Wayne since 1959 and was formerly of Bergenfield, N.J. During World War II, she was a draftswoman for Bendix Corporation and worked on components for the Norton Bomb Site. She was a 1942 graduate of Syracuse University earning a BA in Fine Arts and a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority. She was employed as a freelance textile designer in NYC. She also earned her teaching degree from Montclair State College. For many years she taught Fine Arts in the Wayne School system. After 1973, she worked at Electroneuclonics in Fairfield as a draftswoman. Mrs. Hudson was a member of Preakness Reformed Church in Wayne. She was a member of Pine Lakes Association; the Women's Club; the Garden Club; and the Sailing Club. She was also a member of the Ski Club of New Jersey. She is survived by two sons, Andrew W. and his wife, Karen Hudson, of Cornwall-On-Hudson, and Thomas E. Hudson of Knoxville, Tenn.; and two grandsons, David and Kyle. McCabe, a retired laborer for the New York City Board of Water Supply, died Saturday March 19, 2005, at home. He was 71. The son of John and Veronica Wahl McCabe, he was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. Dave was a member of St. Mary's Church in Obernburg, N.Y.; a member and past president of the Callicoon Center Band; member of Emmett Turner Post #276 of the American Legion; and member of the Allan Milk Veterans of Foreign Wars post of Long Eddy, N.Y. Dave was a longtime high school basketball referee and a veteran of the United States Air Force. The daughter of the late Andreas and Francesca Haderthauer, she was born June 23, 1911 in Germany. Katherine was a member of St. Patrick's Church in Highland Mills, and a member of the Jolly Seniors of Monroe.
