Morrison P. Morrison Baird, a farmer at the Baird-Lee Farm in Sugar Loaf, N.Y., and lifelong resident of the area, died Thursday April 28, 2005 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh Campus. He was 93. The son of Percy Morrison Baird and Ruth Leonard Baird, he was born April 25, 1912 in Chester, N.Y. Mr. Baird was a volunteer fireman since 1950; past captain for the Sugar Loaf Fire Department; and with his father and brother, Dan, he was a dairy farmer in Sugar Loaf. He raised Superior Holstein Stock animals and supplied them to many farms in New York State and South America. He was good friends to all the farmers in the area. He loved to hunt, fish and talk with his friends. He is survived by his wife, Helen Ballard Baird, at home; son, M. William Baird and his wife, Jean, of Westport, N.Y.; sister, Elaine E. Gross of Keene Valley, N.Y.; sister-in-law, Lorraine Swinyer; four grandchildren: Mark Baird, Tamara Ryder, Julie Holbrook, and Sean Baird; six great-grandchildren: Nicholas and Zachary Ryder, Austin and Sadie Holbrook, Cory and Taylor Baird; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Robert N. Baird; a sister, Marjorie Quinby Swinyer; and a brother, Howard Leonard Baird. Visitation will be at the Donovan Funeral Home, 82 S. Card Jr., Lawrence Lawrence Card, Jr., of Cochecton, passed away on Saturday April 30, 2005, at the Catskill Regional Medical Center, Grover M. Hermann Division, Callicoon, N.Y. He was 67. He was the son of late Lawrence Card Sr. and Anna Cisco Card and was born on July 15, 1937 in Paterson, N.J. He was a retired custodian for Sullivan West School District, and was a Korean Conflict veteran having served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of United Methodist Churches of the Town of Bethel. Carroll Castle, of Matamoras, Pa., a Registered Nurse, died Wednesday, April 27, 2005 at her home. She was 76. She was born November 3, 1928 in Matamoras, Pa., the daughter of the late John F. and the late Mary A. Bierstine Wozniak. She was married to the late Robert E. Carroll, who died July 9, 1970. A 1946 graduate of Matamoras High School, she graduated from the Middletown Nursing School in 1949 and received her nursing degree. She was a member of St. Joseph's R.C. Church and the Matamoras Senior Citizens. An avid golfer, Mary was a longtime member of the Port Jervis Country Club where she was club champion many times. Her greatest accomplishment was a hole-in-one on July 17, 1998 on the 9th hole. Surviving are her son, Daniel J. Carroll and his wife, Robyn, of Hobe Sound, Fla.; sister: Patricia Kelly and her husband, Alfred, of Phoenix, Ariz.; two grandsons, Casey Carroll and Andrew Carroll, both of Hobe Sound, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. Goldstein, Jessie Jessie Goldstein, a resident of Greenwood Lake, N.Y., died April 29, 2005, at her home. She was 91. The daughter of the late Aaron and Dora Rhineberg, she was born January 19, 1914, and was preceded in death by her husband, David Goldstein. Survivors include her daughter, Carol Zove of Commack, N.Y.; her son, Alvin Goldstein of Warwick, N.Y.; seven grandchildren: Steven, Douglas and Daniel Zove, and Kevin, Gary and Keith Goldstein, and Kathy Kelly; as well as seven great-grandchildren: Jeffrey, Jason and Joel Zove, Sean and Steven Goldstein, and Tara and Bryan Kelly. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and was proud to be one of the original founders of the Greenwood Lake Jewish Community Center. She was 95. The daughter of the late Floyd Dunn and Maude Sarine Dunn, she was born November 17, 1909 in the Town of Mamakating. Mrs. Green worked for Channel Master in Ellenville and the Wurtsboro Steam Laundry. She is survived by her brother, Raymond W. Dunn, Sr. and his wife, Carol, of Wurtsboro and Ormond Beach, Fla.; son-in-law, George Chessare of Roanoke, Ind.; seven grandchildren: Gary Chessare, Sandra Chessare, Mark Green, Anthony Green, Lisa Green, Arthur Green and Robert Green; several great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Harring, 81, of TidePointe on Hilton Head Island, S.C., formerly of Goshen, died Thursday March 24, 2005, at the Broad Creek Care Center of Hilton Head Island, S.C. Mr. Harring was born August 12, 1923 in Irvington, N.Y., the son of the late Edna Hagan Harring and Irving George Harring, Sr. He moved to Hilton Head Island in 1979 from Goshen, N.Y. He was a World War II veteran and was a graduate of Rutgers University Graduate School of Banking. He retired as a regional vice president from the Bank of New York after 38 years with the bank. Mr. Harring was active in the Rotary Club, the Chamber of Commerce, and was a member of the Sea Pines Country Club. He is survived by his wife, Jane Moje Harring; a son, Bradley Harring of Sandwich, Mass.; a daughter, Wendy Harring of Denver, Colo.; and four grandchildren: Jay Tipton, Michele Tipton, B.J. Schmidt, Fred Fred Schmidt of Greenfield Park, a retired Head of Maintenance for Occupations, Inc., died Friday April 29, 2005 in Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla, N.Y. He was 66. The son of Edward and Katy Ross Schmidt, he was born September 15, 1938 in M-Gladbach, Germany. Fred was a very handy man and could work magic with his hands. He built and renovated his home himself. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He loved his family with his whole heart. He also treated his friends like they were his own family. He will be greatly missed by all. Survivors include his wife, Laurie, who is at home; three daughters: Theresa Mihok and her husband, Mickey, of Middletown, Debbie Schmidt and her husband, Dale, of Jeffersonville, and Diane Mohr and her husband, Mike, of Allentown, Pa.; one son, Mike Schmidt and his wife, Tiffany, of South Dakota; two step-children, Allyson Hill and Steven Hill, who are at home; and four grandchildren: Tommy Johnston, Ashley Sawall, Jamie Schmidt and Janet Hill; and one brother, Ralph Schmidt of Jeffersonville. Tevelowitz, Murray Murray Tevelowitz, a lifetime Fallsburg resident and retired Insurance Agent for the former Rhulen Agency, died Friday April 29, 2005 at home. He was 83. Murray was born in Fallsburg on November 19, 1921, the son of William and Mollie Steiger Tevelowitz. He was a World War II Army veteran, and a volunteer at Catskill Regional Medical Center for over 20 years, as well as being the volunteer financial secretary for the South Fallsburg Hebrew Association for over 40 years. He was also involved in many other civic and religious organizations. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Anne Present Tevelowitz, at home, with whom he walked hand in hand with for so many years. He is also survived by his two sons, Neil Tevelowitz of South Fallsburg and Harold Tevelowitz and his wife, Margaret, of Thornwood, N.Y.; one brother, Isidore Tevelowitz and his wife, Judith, of Florida; one sister, Rita Kohn of Illinois; his grandchildren, Kenneth and Amy; and several nieces and nephews. Tremblay, Corporal Joseph Steven Corporal Joseph Steven Tremblay died heroically in the line of duty on April 26, 2005 in Iraq. Joseph was born on November 13, 1981 in Ridgewood, N.J., to Lawrence J. Tremblay Sr. and Tina Marie Remo. Joseph was a 1999 graduate of Newburgh Free Academy and was currently attending Orange County Community College. Joseph put his degree on hold in 2003 to re-enlist in the U.S. Marine Corps and was currently on active duty in Iraq. During his tour of duty he served in Hawaii, Japan and Australia. Survivors include his loving father, Lawrence J. Sr. of New Windsor; loving mother, Tina Marie and her husband, Martin Kaminsky, of Corbin, Ky.; his loving fianc‚e, Jennifer Coloni (Tremblay); dear brother Lawrence J. and his wife, Siobhan, of Washingtonville; dear sister, Stacy and her husband, Daniel Messer, of Corbin, Ky.; paternal grandmother, Helen Tremblay of Mahwah, N.J.; maternal grandmother, Janet Wannamaker of Washingtonville and Suffern; nieces and nephews: Lawrence J. The son of Evans W. and Electa Lawrence Vandermark, he was born March 15, 1922 in Walden, N.Y. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the aircraft carrier, Rudyerd Bay. He was a member of The United Methodist Church of Walden; past manager for Walden Little League; past member of Shawnee Snowmobile Club; and Tri County Outboard Boating Club. A family statement reads: "He was a devoted family man who also loved boating, fishing, motorcycling, sports, especially baseball, and working around his camp." Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Anne Slisowski Vandermark, at home; two sons, Bruce Vandermark and wife, Dawn, of Walden, and Lawrence E.
