She was the daughter of the late Gregory J. and Pauline (Malloy) Smalec, born July 19, 1948 in Yonkers. Mrs. Baron was of the Roman Catholic Faith. She moved to the Hackettstown area from New York City in 1972. She was an employee of the American Cancer Society, Warren County Chapter. She attended St. Joseph's Grade School and Gorton High School in Yonkers. She later attended St. Mary of the Woods in Terre Haute, IND, The University of Madrid and New York University where she received a Master's Degree in Hispanic Studies. Mrs. Baron was a Spanish teacher at Hackettstown High School for 20 years. She retired in 2002. She was previously employed as a Spanish teacher for the Roxbury and Netcong Board of Education and Centenary College, Hackettstown. Surviving are her husband, Norman S. Baron of Allamuchy, N.J.; daughter, Jessica M. Baron of Creede, CO; brother, Mark Smalec of Dover Plains, N.Y.; sisters, Mary Marsh of Maybrook, N.Y., Margaret McGowan of Schenectady, N.Y., Ilene Herranz of Madrid, Spain, Daria Bishara of Tuckahoe, N.Y.; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Smalec in 2003. Battles Jr., Adam Adam Battles Jr., a social worker and longtime Otisville resident, died Sunday, May 8, 2005 at O.R.M.C., Horton Campus. He was 75 years old. The son of the late Adam and Kittie Crutcher Battles, Adam was born on September 9, 1929 in New Market, Alabama. Adam received his Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Atlanta, proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War, was an elder and member of the Otisville Mt. Hope Presbyterian Church and married Annie Ruth Battle on December 28, 1968. Adam was a social worker for the division of youth, NYS, retiring in 1989. A family statement reads: "Adam was very active in his church and his community. He was a gentle man who always had a smile and a kind word for everyone he met." The daughter of the late Reverend Marston W. Williamson, Sr. and Annie Maude Royal Williamson, she was born March 14, 1922 in Warsaw, N.C. A homemaker, she was a member of Pentecostal Holy Joy Church in Modena, N.Y., and also President of Mother's Board and a member of Missionary. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Alex Murphy Blue, at home; two daughters, Christine Alfonso and husband, Robert, of Northvale, N.J., and Maplelean Blue of Nyack, N.Y.; and two grandsons, Darryl and Brian Alfonso, both of Northvale, N.J. The son of Fred L. Broas and Mary Campbell Broas, he was born August 11, 1922 in Wallkill. He was a World War II Army Air Corps Veteran; member of V.F.W. Dickerman, Dr. Richard Dr. Richard Dickerman, 81, formerly of New Windsor, passed away peacefully Friday afternoon, May 6, 2005, at his home in Endwell, N.Y. surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Margaret Dickerman, Endwell; his daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Robert Wolford, Kirkwood, N.Y.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Maggie Dickerman, Endwell, Gary and Katherine Dickerman, Vienna, Va.; four grandchildren, Jennifer Potenzino and her husband, Brian, Christopher Stoeckel and his wife, Billie Jo, Jonathan Stoeckel and Kelsey Dickerman; four great-grandchildren, Kristi and Alex Potenzino, Ethan and Macenzi Stoeckel; two brothers, Robert Dickerman, New Mexico, Donald Dickerman, Arizona. He was a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church, Endwell, and a former member of Grace United Methodist Church, Newburgh, where he was a devoted and active member for both churches. He was a retired Lt. Colonel serving in the U.S. Army Reserves. Dr. Dickerman was born and raised in Ithaca, N.Y. He received his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from Cornell University, and his Ph.D. from the University of Sarasota. He began his career as Vice Principal in E. Lansing, N.Y. After moving to Endwell, he became Assistant Superintendent, and at times Acting Superintendent, for the Maine-Endwell School District, retiring after 21 years. He then became Vice President at Mt. St. Mary College in Newburgh, where he presided over a dramatic growth of college facilities and enrollment over the next 21 years. He retired at the age of 79 to act as the primary caregiver to his beloved wife, Margaret, and moved back to Endwell to be closer to his family. Dr. Dickerman enjoyed traveling with his wife, woodworking, and music, especially playing the organ. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who lived an active life. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. The family wishes to thank the Hospice program and Dr. Dickerman's special caregivers for the love and compassion that was shown to him over the past several months. Hnatow, age 92, of Middletown, N.Y., passed away Saturday, May 7, 2005 unexpectedly at Orange Regional Medical Center at Arden Hill, Goshen, N.Y. Born in East Quogue, N.Y. on July 23, 1912, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hnatow. A retired farmer in Middletown, he was the first farmer to own a combine in the area. He was the widower of Eve "Ethel" Soroka Hnatow. He is survived by his stepson Charles Goers of Middletown, his sister-in-law Ann Wasylychyn and her husband Alex of Youngstown, OH and a niece Luba in the Ukraine. Justino, 55, of Newburgh, died Tuesday, May 10, 2005 at Albany VA Hospital, after a short illness. Son of the late Gennaro and Triesta Serini Justino, he was born in Mt. Vernon, NY on July 3, 1949. Frank attended Beacon High School and enlisted in the US Marine Corp in 1968, serving with Lima Company, 3d Battalion, 1st Marines, in Vietnam. He was wounded in 1969 and received the Purple Heart. After his medical discharge from the service he was employed by Castle Point VA Hospital for over 30 years, until his retirement in 2002. Frank was avid supporter of Vietnam veterans and enjoyed his annual reunions. He was predeceased by his son Stephen and brother Michael. Poshadel, a lifelong area resident and retired carpenter with Carpenters Union Local 19, died Monday, May 9, 2005 at St. Teresa's Nursing Home, Middletown. He was 87. The son of Emil G. Poshadel and Rose Masanet Poshadel, he was born September 1, 1917 in Chester. He was formerly a dairy farmer and rural mail carrier with the R.D. #1 Middletown route. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Middletown; Carpenters Union Local 19; Otisville Grange; Pomona Grange; State Grange and National Grange. He also helped organize the Otisville-Mt. Hope Volunteer Ambulance Corps. "We will always remember his sense of humor and love of family." He was the beloved husband of Anne Poshadel at home in Middletown. Also surviving are his loving son and daughters, Charles A. Poshadel and wife Linda of Goshen, RoseAnne Livingston and husband Vincent of Tyler Hill, Pa., Mary Koopman of Pittsburgh, Pa., Dorothy Rehg and husband James of Atlanta, Ga.; 10 grandchildren, Jeremy Livingston, Josh Livingston, Andy Poshadel, Joe Livingston, Ben Koopman, Rachel Livingston, Dave Koopman, Isaac, Amelia and Katherine Rehg; one brother Edward Poshadel and companion Sue Zistler of Sebastian, Fla.; four nieces; one nephew; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Smit, Elizabeth Mary Elizabeth Mary Smit entered into rest on Tuesday, May 10, 2005 at O.R.M.C., Arden Hill Campus. She was 51. The daughter of John T. and Elizabeth Francis Cleary, she was born October 4, 1953 in Geneva, N.Y. She was a member of Orange Blossom Decorative Painters, Hudson Valley Tole Painters Club and Society of Decorative Artists. Mom loved to paint, garden, cook, was an accomplished seamstress and loved her dogs Daisy and Delia. Survivors include her parents, John and Elizabeth Cleary of Staten Island, N.Y.; her husband Leonard W. Smit of Warwick; two daughters, Veronica Fraser and her husband Kevin of Vernon, N.J., Kathleen Smit and her fianc‚ Robert Scheuermann of Warwick; one son Jonathan Smit of Warwick; two grandchildren, Bridget and Abigail; two brothers, Michael Cleary, John Cleary; three sisters, Margaret Swinton, Nancy Fiore and Patricia Altschuler; and several nieces and nephews. Wynne (nee Gardella) died on Monday, May 9, 2005 at age 77 in Goshen, N.Y. where she was living the last 13 years. Born on Feb. 26, 1928 to Adolph and Helen (Hanlon) Gardella in Yonkers where she was raised and graduated from Commerce H.S. On August 31, 1952 she married James F. Wynne in Yonkers. He died in 1980. Mrs. Wynne is survived by her six children, Joseph (Christine) of Yonkers, Kevin (Nora) of Goshen, Michael (Susan) of Hopewell Junction, Helen Wynne of Goshen, Laura (Brian) Brady of Hopewell Junction and James Wynne of Goshen. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Joseph and Erin Wynne, Elisa (Anthony) Piscitelli Thomas Palmieri, Michael and Timothy Wynne, Danielle and Nicholas Wynne and Connor and Kelsey Brady; two great-grandchildren, Drue and Maya Piscitelli; and two sisters, Agnes Thompson and Victoria Driscoll both of Florida. She was predeceased by four brothers, Michael, Ralph, Joseph and Sonny Gardella; and three sisters ,Margaret Tripoli, Helen Lucaparra and Elizabeth Castagnoli.
