She was 88. The daughter of Jesse Vickery and Georgia Carr Vickery, she was born March 9, 1917 in Goshen, N.Y. She is survived by one son, Charles H. Berry and his wife, Sharon MacKinnon-Berry, of Middletown; and one grandson, Alexander Berry of Middletown. She was the widow of Charles Frank Berry and was also predeceased by her sister, Margaret Vickery. Cappiello, Theresa Josephine Theresa Josephine Cappiello of Pine Bush, a homemaker and 20-year resident of the area, formerly of Yonkers, N.Y., died Thursday May 12, 2005 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Horton Campus in Middletown. She was 76. The daughter of Michael and Concetta Amato Corigliano, she was born November 13, 1928 in Rochester, N.Y. She was the widow of Robert Cappiello. She was a member of the Church of the Infant Saviour. Survivors include her daughter, Marie Spada, a Registered Nurse for the State of New York; and her grandchildren, Joseph Robert Spada and Michael Stephen Spada, both of Pine Bush, N.Y. Laura S. Cerone of Newburgh, passed away Saturday May 14, 2005 at Wingate at Dutchess, Fishkill. She was 90. Daughter of the late Boniface and Maria Lattanzia Santoro, she was born in Newburgh on November 3, 1914. She was married to Samuel G. Cerone, Sr., who was a former Orange County Legislator and Newburgh City Councilman. He predeceased her on July 29, 1972. Laura was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Newburgh, and a member of Club 60. She was a polling inspector for many years and was very involved with Newburgh Democratic Party. A family statement reads: "Laura was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed." Survivors include her sons, Anthony J. Cerone of Newburgh, Samuel G. Cerone, Jr. and his wife, Kathryn, of Newburgh; her daughter, Shirley Riley and her husband, Thomas, of Cornwall; her sister, Anne Moresco of the Town of Newburgh; her sisters-in-law, Carmella Santoro and Mary Loparco; her brother-in-law, Michael J. Cerone, Sr. and his wife, Dorothy; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Connolly of Goshen, a 48-year resident and retired lawyer at Connolly and Connolly in Goshen, N.Y., died Thursday April 21, 2005 at Orange County Residential Health Care Facility in Goshen, N.Y. He was 98. The son of John Joseph Connolly and Katherine Leyden Connolly, he was born November 6, 1906 in Brooklyn, N.Y. Bill was a graduate of Georgetown University in 1929 and received a Law Degree from New York University. He was a lawyer in New York City for over 20 years. He and his family then moved to Goshen, where he was an area resident for the past 48 years. Practicing law well into his 80's, Bill was active in the Democratic Party and numerous church and social organizations. Above all, he was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle. Survivors include two daughters, Vicky Wilson and husband, Jim, of Madrid, Spain, and Laurie Chertock and husband, Stephen, of Alexandria, Va.; two sons, John Connolly of New Windsor, and Stephen Connolly and wife, Esther Fernandez of Barcelona, Spain; seven grandchildren: Michael Chertock, Amy Chertock Koehler, Nicholas Chertock, Nora Connolly Eyle, Christina Connolly Wilson, Andrew Connolly Wilson, and Teresa Connolly Fernandez; one great-granddaughter, Maria Chertock; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Marie Monahan Connolly; and his sisters, Agnes Monahan and Catherine Connolly. Corwin, Loretta Loretta Corwin, of Middletown, a lifelong resident of the area, died Friday May 13, 2005 at Orange Regional Medical Center at Horton in Middletown. She was 82. The daughter of Pasquale and Filomena Cortese, she was born on January 27, 1923 in Middletown. She was the widow of Michael DiRenzo and Wesley Corwin. Mrs. Corwin was a secretary having retired from St. Joseph's School. She was a former Grand Regent of the Catholic Daughters of America and also served as the New York State Chairwoman of the Junior Catholic Daughters of America. She was very devoted to St. Joseph's Church and its parish, and served as the President of the Altar Rosary Society and the Vice President of the Assumption Society. Survivors include her daughter, Diane Van Fleet; her son, Michael DiRenzo and wife, Barbara; her granddaughter, Kim VanFleet; her grandson, Greg VanFleet and wife, Gayle, and their sons, Michael and Matthew; her brother, Nicholas Cortese and wife, Marietta; her sister, Mary VanGelder and husband, Charles; her brother-in-law, Nicholas DiRenzo and wife, Margaret; her brother-in-law, Anthony DiRenzo and wife, Carmen; her sister-in-law, Blanche DiRenzo; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Patrick DiRenzo and her brother Russell Cortese. Mrs. Corwin will always be remembered as a loving mother and wife; a cherished grandmother, and a dear friend to many. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her dearly. The son of the late Joseph DeGiorgio and Teresa Barberi, he was born September 1, 1928 in Newburgh, N.Y. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Newburgh; Catholic War Veterans Post 386 in Newburgh; Knights of Columbus, MSGR; Henry O'Carroll Council 444 in Newburgh; and served in the U.S. Marines from 1946-1948. Survivors include his wife, Sarah Ragonese DeGiorgio; two sons, Joseph DeGiorgio of Kingston, and Patrick DeGiorgio and his wife, Patricia, of Beacon; two daughters, Teresa Flanagan and her husband, Kevin, of New Windsor, and Marie (Malena) Coluccio and her husband, Vince, of Westtown, N.Y.; three grandchildren: Alyssa and Nicole Coluccio of Westtown, and Ashley Flanagan of New Windsor; and several nieces and nephews. Hosking, a longtime area resident, passed away Tuesday May 10, 2005, at his home in White Sulphur Springs after a long illness. He was 79. The son of the late Arthur J. and Helen Brunner Hosking, he was born on May 26, 1925 in New York City. Arthur was a member of the White Sulphur Springs Fire Department and the White Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church. He was a World War II Combat Veteran with the U.S. Navy attached to the Second Marine Division Pacific Theatre. He participated in the Battle of the Mariannas, Saipan. He worked for 30 years at A & P Jane Parker Bakery Division. He worked also for ten years at the NYS Department of Corrections in Woodbourne as a civilian worker. Survivors include his wife, AnnaMary Angelastro Hosking, at home; three sons: Arthur Hosking, Jr. and wife, Nancy, of Sheboygan, Wis., Victor Hosking and his longtime companion, Bonnie, of Kirbyville, Mo., and David Hosking and wife, Marian, of White Sulphur Springs; one daughter, Kim Duiker and her husband, Gerard, of Marina Del Rey, Calif.; seven grandchildren: Fred Hosking and wife Cherie, Jeff Hosking and wife Chris, Maya Adrianna, Haarm Pieter and Johanna Ariel Diuker, Allison Marie and Amy Catherine Hosking and two great-grandchildren, Rheannan and Scott. Kyer Sr., of New City, died on May 11, 2005 in Atlantic City Medical Center. Bruce was born in Fowler, N.Y. on May 8, 1942 to George and Bernice (Thornton) Kyer. He had been a Rockland resident for 42 years. Bruce graduated from Rockland Community College in 1972 with an RN Degree. He worked as a Registered Nurse for Rockland County Psychiatric Center and retired in 1991. Bruce married Eileen Ehrlich in Piermont on August 26, 1966. He loved working with his hands and tools, enjoyed garage sales and collecting tools. Bruce was a member of the American Legion New City Chapter Post 1682. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1959-1963 as an airplane mechanic stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion and a member of the West Nyack Senior Citizens Club #2. Bruce enjoyed taking his grandson tractor driving, enjoyed Bingo and Atlantic City. He was a Good Samaritan. Bruce also enjoyed Dunkin Donuts coffee. Bruce is survived by his wife, Eileen and his sons, Michael of New City and Bruce, and wife, Wendy, of Coral Springs, Fla.; his daughter, Brenda and husband, Bob Koza, of Monroe; his sister, Sharon and husband, Tom Mathews, of Potsdam; and his two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Christopher Koza. He was a member of FOX Company and received the Purple Heart, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Silver Star Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, and Bronze Star Medal. He belonged to the VFW Post in Newburgh, as well as the Greenville VFW Post 3175; Life Member of the Marine Corps League; and member of the Disabled Veterans Commanders Club. He is survived by his wife, Arlene Lopez Pomers, at home; daughters, Donna Rappa and husband, Tony, of Freehold, N.J., and May Ann Melcer and husband, Bob, of Boca Raton, Fla.; three grandchildren: Christopher Rappa, Toni Marie Rappa, and Joseph Liso; and several nieces and nephews. Snowman, Robert S. Robert S. Snowman of Newburgh, a retired laborer for Tarkett Co. in Vails Gate, and a World War II Navy veteran, died Thursday May 12, 2005 at the Montgomery Nursing Home. He was 77. The son of the late Howard and Burton Van Duzer Snowman, he was born April 10, 1927 in Cleveland, N.Y., and was the husband of the late Margaret Weir Snowman. Survivors include a son, Robert A. Snowman of Newburgh; a brother, James Snowman of Walden; a sister, Margaret Weygant of Cornwall; three granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.
