She was 85. The daughter of the late Richard T. and Ethel Lewis Gill, she was born March 24, 1920 in Port Jervis, N.Y. She was a member and past matron of the River Valley Chapter #33, O.E.S., Port Jervis; member of the Laurel Court #58; and Order of the Amaranth, Port Jervis. A family statement reads: "Betty loved to cook and care for her entire family, but nothing surpassed the love she held for each one of them." She is survived by her husband, Donald E. Addy; two sons, Larry Addy and his wife, Joan, of Port Jervis, and Douglas D. Addy and his wife, Lorretta, of Milford, Pa.; three brothers: James Gill of Port Jervis, Roy Gill of Port Jervis, and Robert Gill of Dumont, N.J.; one sister, Doris Hall of Port Jervis; four grandchildren: Wayne Addy and his wife, Christine, Tonya Addy and her husband, Sean, Jennifer Lane and Douglas D. Cerone of Newburgh, passed away Saturday May 14, 2005 at Wingate at Dutchess, Fishkill. She was 90. Daughter of the late Boniface and Maria Lattanzia Santoro, she was born in Newburgh on November 3, 1914. She was married to Samuel G. Cerone, Sr., who was a former Orange County Legislator and Newburgh City Councilman. He predeceased her on July 29, 1972. Laura was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Newburgh, and a member of Club 60. She was a polling inspector for many years and was very involved with Newburgh Democratic Party. A family statement reads: "Laura was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed." Survivors include her sons, Anthony J. Cerone of Newburgh, Samuel G. Cerone, Jr. and his wife, Kathryn, of Newburgh; her daughter, Shirley Riley and her husband, Thomas, of Cornwall; her sister, Anne Moresco of the Town of Newburgh; her sisters-in-law, Carmella Santoro and Mary Loparco; her brother-in-law, Michael J. Cohen, Julius Julius Cohen, a lifetime area resident and businessman, died Saturday May 14, 2005 at home in White Lake. He was 79. Julius was born on December 20, 1925 in Hurleyville, the son of the late Isidore and Fannie Krinsky Cohen. He grew up with the family business, the Columbia Star House in Hurleyville, along with his brothers and sisters. He attended school in Hurleyville and was a World War II Army veteran. He was a real estate broker, investor and developer, and a partner in the Gersten-Hillman Insurance Agency in Monticello, and Monticello Black Top Corp. His business career spanned over fifty years. He was the managing partner in the former Patio Motel in Monticello, with his sister, the late Lillian Benmosche. He was also the president and a partner in the former Monticello Gas & Oil Company. Julie was one of the founding members, along with his wife, Audrey, of Temple Sholom in Monticello. He was a charter member of the Monticello Elks Lodge 1544, as well as a member of the Sullivan County Board of Realtors, the Sullivan County Independent Insurance Agents Association, the Sullivan County Community College Foundation Board, and the Finance Committee of C.R.C. Julie quietly lent his expertise and help to many, and he was honored by the Community Resource Center in 1991 as Businessperson of the Year. He is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Audrey Cohen, at home; his son, Jerry and wife, Sondra Cohen, of South Fallsburg; his daughter, Stacy and husband, Dr. Monte Sachs, of White Lake; his sister, Eleanor Lederman of Monticello; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brothers, Abe and Sam Cohen, and his sisters: Rose Ingber, Lillian Benmosche, Martha Gold and Frieda Devans. DeGiorgio of New Windsor, a retired fifth grade elementary school teacher for the Beacon School District, died Friday May 13, 2005 at Cornwall Hospital. He was 76. The son of the late Joseph DeGiorgio and Teresa Barberi, he was born September 1, 1928 in Newburgh, N.Y. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Newburgh; Catholic War Veterans Post 386 in Newburgh; Knights of Columbus, MSGR; Henry O'Carroll Council 444 in Newburgh; and served in the U.S. Marines from 1946-1948. McGrath, Francis Francis McGrath, age 77, died on Saturday May 14, 2005 at his residence in Warwick, N.Y. He was born in Cliffside Park, N.J. to the late James and Frances McGrath. He had lived in Vernon before moving to Warwick two years ago. Mr. McGrath served in the United States Army during World War II and had received the Army Occupation Medal - Japan. He was the owner and operator of Frank & Son, a sheetrock company of Vernon and had retired 20 years ago. He was the devoted father of Frank McGrath of Vernon, William McGrath of Clifton, Peter McGrath of New York State, Stephen McGrath of Vernon, Veronica Pluymers of Hamburg and Robin Dey of Stillwater; and the beloved brother to Gene McGrath of New Paltz and Bernart McGrath of Florida. He was cherished by 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and was the dear former husband of Ellen. He was predeceased by his brother, James McGrath. O'Neill McCarthy, she was born in Binghamton, N.Y. on June 24, 1933. She married Joseph Petrillo, Sr. on July 9, 1955 in Immaculate Conception Church, Ithaca, N.Y., who survives at home. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year. Patricia was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church in Newburgh; a member of St. Mary's Seniors; and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas - Court Patricia. She was involved with the Newburgh Women's Bowling Association, where she was a member of the Hall of Fame. In addition to her husband, Patricia is survived by her son, Paul James Petrillo of Newburgh; her son-in-law, Joseph Irish; her daughter, Kathleen Petrillo and her husband, James Bair III of Brooklyn; her brother, James H. Robe, Leon Leon Robe of Cochecton Center, a retired stonemason and landscaper, and 30-year area resident, died Saturday May 14, 2005 at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale, Pa. He was 93. The son of the late Edward Robe, Sr. and Alvina Wanner Robe, he was born May 17, 1911 in Hagenthal-le Bas, Alsace-Lorraine. He was married to Ethel Brasda Robe for 70 years. Leon was a longtime member of the Bergen County Sportsmen Association Branch 7. Leon was an honest and hard-working man, and a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His true delight lay in using his natural talents and love of natural materials to beautify the world around him. Throughout his years of work, the many beautiful trees, flowering shrubs and roses he so caringly planted, now grace many back yards and landscapes. He truly left this world a much prettier place than he found it. Survivors include his wife, Ethel, at home; one daughter, Leona Willis and her husband, Stephen, of Jeffersonville; one son, Charles Robe of Liberty; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. "Ron" Schade of Newburgh, a retired Mechanical Engineer at West Point, passed away Sunday May 15, 2005 at home. He was 54. Son of the late Rudolf and Anna Hoesl Schade, he was born on July 26, 1950 in Cornwall. He married Cathleen Cawein on July 17, 1976 in Maybrook, N.Y., who survives at home. A family statement reads: "Ron was a beloved husband, father, brother and friend who will be truly missed and loved." Ron proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1968 to 1976. In addition to his wife, survivors include his son, Ronald R. Schade at home; his daughters, Anna C. Schade and Jennifer M. She was 66. Janet was known as "Pety" to her family and friends. She was born in Monticello, N.Y. on October 3, 1938, the daughter of Louis and Evelyn Lowe Davis. She was the widow of Alfred Turk. Janet was a former member of the Concerned Citizens of Sullivan County. She is survived by two sons, Alfred and Harold Turk, both of Forestburgh, N.Y.; her daughter, Debra Bechuck of Houston, Texas; her sister, Dorothy Gildersleeve of Liberty; her six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Janet was predeceased by her brother, Alvin Davis and four sisters: Ruth Davis, Margarite Tremper, Arlene Davis, and Honey Jaycox.
