Walter "Herbert" Andersen, a waste water treatment operator for Orange and Rockland Utilities in Haverstraw and resident of Goshen for most of his life, died Friday, May 13, 2005 at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona, Fla. He was 70. The son of Nils J. Andersen and Clara B. Smith Andersen, he was born July 11, 1934 in Goshen. He was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War; a member of the Elks Club #2627, Port Orange, Fla.; and past member of the American Legion, Middletown. Survivors include his three sons, Robert Andersen and his wife Tracy, Steven Andersen and his wife Lori and Jeffery Andersen all of Middletown; four grandchildren, Rhianna, Steven, Nicholas and Alex; one sister, Ada Lipsey of Wanasink Lake; companion Janet Sullivan of New Windsor. Published in the Times Herald-Record on 5/18/2005. Christiana, Donald Davis Donald Davis Christiana, a lifelong resident of Kripplebush, N.Y., died Tuesday May 17, 2005 in his sleep. He was 81. Mr. Christiana was born in Kripplebush, N.Y. on May 4, 1924, the son of Claude and Viola (Davis) Christiana. Donald was a 1942 graduate of Kingston High School. He was a lifetime dairy farmer, having owned and operated Christiana's Farm in Kripplebush. He was a congregant of the Kripplebush United Methodist Church; a past member of the Kripplebush Fire Department; and a member of the Dairymen's League. Donald was also an avid bowler with the Rosendale Merchants. Mr. Christiana was married to the former Shirley Gray for 42 years. She passed away in 1988. Donald's grandson, Dominic J. Giamei, Jr., also predeceased him. Donald is survived by his children: Chick (Patty), Susan, Gail (Andy), Debbie, Sharon and Tammy; his sisters, Virginia Miller and Jean Haener; his grandchildren: Jason, Donald, David, Paul, Frank, Jessica, Josh, Jonathan, Nick, Scott, Susie, Kyle, Dylan and Jake; his great-grandchildren: Christian, Stephanie, Jordan and Samantha; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 7-9 PM at H.B. Humiston Funeral Home, 30 Forty Second St., Kerhonkson, N.Y. Evans, Margaret Ruth Margaret Ruth Cushing Evans, a retired nurse's aide for the New York State Psychiatric Hospital in Middletown, died Tuesday May 17, 2005 at the Horton Medical Center in Middletown. She was 84. The daughter of the late Percival and Florence Cushing, she was born March 23, 1921 in Middletown. Margaret was a member of the Community Church of Wurtsboro and the Middletown Seniors Association. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Martin W. Evans, at home; a son, William J. Evans of Montgomery; two sisters, Eleanor Cushing of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Dorothy Cushing of Milford, Conn.; two grandchildren: William, Jr. and his wife, Stacey, and Michelle; two great-grandchildren: Samantha and Charlotte; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Jerry B. Evans; a daughter, Jennifer Evans; two brothers, Ralph Cushing and William Cushing. Hart of Montgomery, a retired Farm Systems Engineer for Agway in Syracuse and a longtime resident of the area died Tuesday May 17, 2005 in Montgomery. He was 73. The son of Patrick J. and Johanna Lynch Hart, he was born January 14, 1932 in Mt. Kisco, N.Y. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of St Mary's Parish, Montgomery. After retiring from Agway, John had also worked with Brescia Pole Buildings in Montgomery. Survivors include his wife, Dina Fagone Hart, at home; daughter, Theresa Geraghty and husband, Paul, of Haddam, Conn.; son, John F.Hart, Jr. of New York City; daughter, Jane M.Tucker and husband, Harold, of Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.; son, Joseph D. Hart and wife, Mariane, of Hebron, Conn.; six grandchildren: Mathias and Peter Geraghty, Emma and Andrew Tucker, and Jacqueline and David Hart; brother, Patrick Hart and wife, Mary, of Katonah, N.Y.; sister-in-law, Helen Hart of Millbury, Mass.; and nieces and nephews. Huber, Jr., 84, of Shohola, Pa., died December 31, 2004 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis, N.Y. He was born in Newark, N.J., the son of Louis A. Huber and Ida (Miller) Huber, and lived in Hillside and Wayne, N.J. He was a husband, father of two and doting grandfather of six. He raised his family in Wayne, N.J. and then retired, returning back to Shohola where he and his wife first met at Camp Sagamore. Louis was a World War II Army veteran and an active member of the Milford V.F.W. Mountain Laurel Post #8612. He graduated from Newark College of Engineering and spent his career as a reliability engineer, contributing to the space shuttle and F-14 guidance systems and the lunar module (first landing on the moon). He was also a Cub Master and Scout Master for his boys, who both achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He was recognized in 2003 for his service to Troop #102 in Wayne, N.J. He was an avid bridge player and golfer as well as a sailor with the Twin Lakes Sailing Fleet, with which he was an active member through the summer of 2004. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Dorothy; two sons, Scott W. Huber and Glenn A. Huber of New Jersey; a brother, Loren Huber of South Carolina; and six grandchildren who cherished him dearly. Jackson, a longtime area resident, died unexpectedly on Sunday, May 15, 2005 at Bon Secours Hospital in Port Jervis. She was 74 years old. The daughter of the late Cornelius and Kathryn Fields Flaherty, she was born on October 30, 1930 in Queens Village, Queens, N.Y. Kathleen, along with her husband Robert, owned and operated the Highlander Bar and Grill in upstate NY. An avid BINGO player, she enjoyed waiting for the last number to be called. A family statement reads: "We will always remember our mother as kind hearted and generous who above all else loved her family. She was open and friendly to everyone. A survivor of many losses, she greatly missed her loved ones who have passed before her." She is survived by three sons, Brain T. Jackson and his wife, Rose of Miller Place, Robert N. Jackson and his girlfriend Alison Wells of Port Jefferson Station, and Bruce R. Jackson of Westtown; her three daughters, Bonnie J. Brennan and her husband, James of Unionville, Barbara J. Gardner and her husband, Tim of Marietta, Georgia, and Beth E. Jackson and her Fiance, Kevin Diaz of Woodside; one brother, Thomas Flaherty of New York; one sister Maureen Ryan of Massachusetts; nine grandchildren, Katie Arthur and her husband Jonathan, Gina Henderson, Matthew Sanna, Bobby Jackson, Jennie Brennan, Kyle Gardner, Sara, Heather and Kara Jackson; as well as two great-grandchildren, Mia and Elijah Henderson. Calvario, 79, of Austin, TX, passed from this earth on May 14, 2005. She was born in Uhland, TX to Panfilo and Micaela Ramos Reyna on March 9, 1926. Happily married at the San Jose Catholic Church in Austin, TX, to Gino T. Calvario of Port Jervis, NY, on July 24, 1960 the couple moved to Binghamton, NY. They raised two children, Sandra and Randy in Windsor, NY. The family moved to Austin, TX in 1978. Caring and serving the needs of others, Ramona was a great cook and extended her love to family, friends, and neighbors with food, kindness, and generosity. She loved babies, kids and pets and didn't miss an opportunity to hug them. She gave us all the gift of her love and affection to carry us on through the years. We shall miss her greatly. She is preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Gino T. Calvario; parents Panfilo and Micaela Reyna; brothers, Salvador, Frederico, Alfredo, and Gonzalo Reyna; sisters, Engracia Gamez and Mary Ayala all of Austin. Leppert, Robert Robert Leppert, of Warwick, died on May 15, 2005. He was 80 years old. Born on April 17, 1925 in Union City, N.J., he was the son of Herman and Henriette Van Drotten Leppert. He was married to Maryann Isola Leppert. Mr. Leppert served with the US Navy from 1943-46 as a Pharmacist's Mate Second Class, served on the USS Guadalcanal, received the European Theatre Medal, American Area Medal and Victory Medal. He received an honorable discharge. He was a Special Education Teacher, a Special Education Supervisor, a dedicated Educator and Principal with the Union City Board of Education at Gilmore School for 36 years, from 1953-1990. He was a parishioner of St. Stephen's RC Church, Warwick, N.Y. Mr. Leppert is survived by his loving wife, Maryann Isola Leppert of Warwick; two daughters: Rita Leppert of Honesdale, Pa. and Barbara Schiner of Manalapin, N.J.; one son, Robert Leppert, Jr. of Warwick; two sisters: Lydia Schaefer of North Bergen, N.J. and Evelyn Presti of Waldwick, N.J. He was 65. The son of the late David Marker and Maria Adolf Marker, he was born February 7, 1940 in Eberbach, Germany. He was a member of Woodbury Field and Stream Club, Highland Mills. Survivors include his wife Evelyn Vigliotti Marker of Central Valley; son, Henry W. Marker and wife Melissa Bonacic of Greenville; one grandchild, Cameron Marker. McNamee of New City, N.Y., died on May 17, 2005 in Calvary Hospital, Bronx, N.Y. Michael was born in New York City on April 8, 1928 to Michael J. and Margaret (Mullarkey) McNamee. He was a Rockland County resident for 43 years, prior Queens, N.Y. He married Patricia (McDonald) in April, 1955. Michael graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School and served his country proudly in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1946-1949. He attended Pace University and graduated in 1954. Michael was an accountant for IBM, Sterling Forest, N.Y. for over 30 years and retired in 1989. He was past commander of the New City American Legion; past treasurer for the New City Mighty Midgets Football; and treasurer for the Clarkstown South Touchdown Club. Michael was voted Fan of the Decade from the Clarkstown South Hall of Fame. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Haverstraw Elks. Michael was predeceased by his wife, Patricia, in 1995. He is survived by his sons, Michael and his wife, Patricia, of Orangeburg, N.Y., and Christopher and Elizabeth of Pine Bush, N.Y.; his daughter, Cathleen McNamee of New City, N.Y.; and three grandchildren: Michael, Liam and Erin.
