Janet S. Glasper died May 12, 2005 in Newburgh. She was 48. The daughter of James Glasper Jr. and Mae Holden-Glasper, she was born January 10, 1957 in Little Rock, Ark. Survivors include her mother of Newburgh; daughter, Janet Davis of Andrews, S.C.; sons, Lawrence S. Davis of N. Charleston, S.C. and Lamont Davis of Evansville, Ind.; brothers Henry Holden of Great Neck, LI, Lee Glasper of Lawrenceburg, N.C., Michael Glasper of Newburgh, Denny Glasper of New Port News, Va., David Glasper of Long Island, N.Y.; sister Theresa Glasper of Highpoint, N.Y.; grandchildren, Javonne Jacobs, Lawrence S. Davis Jr., Jewelle Davis, Jhaitan Lewis and Kai Markel Davis. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday, May 21 at Brutus W. Hodge Funeral Home, 13 Chambers St., Newburgh. Hollander, Leonard Leonard Hollander, a retired psychiatrist and local resident since 1989, died suddenly and without pain on Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He was 86. The son of Herman Hollander and Tobye Karesh, he was born December 8, 1918 in Crown Heights, Brooklyn and grew up in Far Rockaway, Queens. He was formerly of Princeton, N.J. He married the late Susan R. Katz on August 21, 1956 in East Rockaway, L.I., N.Y. She died July 14, 2002. He graduated from City College of New York and Ohio State with degrees in Psychology, then earned his MD at NYU Medical School and went into the field of child psychiatry. He was a member of the Jewish Congregation of New Paltz, American Psychiatric Assoc., the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Mid-Hudson Psychiatric Society. Len balanced therapeutic work in clinics and privately with teaching at Albert Einstein, Emory, and Rutgers Medical Schools. He and his wife Sue had a wonderful life together and enjoyed their friends, family and communities in New York, Atlanta, Princeton and New Paltz. He read widely, had a thirst for knowledge, a sweetness and a sense of playfulness that came out in his prolific puns. Survivors include his sons, Eric Hollander of Brooklyn, Seth Hollander of Gardiner and David and his wife Wendy Hollander of Red Bank; sister, Gertrude Brown of Rye, N.Y.; brother, Zander and his wife Phyllis Hollander of New York City; many nieces and nephews; and brother-in-law Joseph Katz and his wife Pattie Eakin of Gardiner. There will be no visitation. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 20 at Jewish Congregation of New Paltz, Church Street, New Paltz. Rabbi Wm. Strongin will officiate. Lahey, Stella Stella Lahey, of Newburgh and formerly of New Windsor, died May 17, 2005. She was 90. Stella was born in Newburgh on November 4, 1914, a daughter of the late Peter and Anna Wojecki Sladeski. For many years she worked as a garment worker in Newburgh and belonged to the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. A longtime resident of Cofey Ave., New Windsor, Mrs. Lahey was a parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Church, Newburgh and a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Newburgh. Her husband James Lahey died in 1965. One sister Elizabeth Knox, and seven brothers Edward, Joseph, Frank, Alex, Paul, Stanley and Chester Sladeski all died previously. Surviving are one brother Leo Sladeski and wife Marcia of Balmville, and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 20 at White and Venuto Funeral Home, 188 N. He was born on October 7, 1932 to Mario and Rachel Maresca in Bronx, N.Y. John married his beloved wife, Vivian Giaquinto in 1968 in the Bronx. He served his country in the United States Army as a Sergeant during the Korean War, and was also a member of the Black Rock Fish & Game Club. He is survived by his beloved wife, Vivian, at home; four sons: Stephen Maresca of California, Glenn Maresca of Las Vegas, Nev., John Maresca of Manhattan, N.Y., and Michael Maresca of New Windsor; and five grandchildren: Christina, Stephen Jr., Thomas, Matthew, and a new baby. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday May 21, 2005 at 11:00 AM in Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh, N.Y. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Oppenheimer, Kay Kay Oppenheimer, of Monroe, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 14, 2005 at Orange Regional Medical Center in Goshen. She was 69 years old. The daughter of the late Eddie and Tessie Weissman, she was born on January 30, 1936 in the Bronx, N.Y. Kay will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. A family statement reads: "We will always remember our mother as a wonderful and caring woman who always put her family first. The love she showered on all of us will sustain us in the days ahead. She will be truly missed." Survivors include her loving husband, Bill, of Monroe and their children: Cindy Gisser and her husband, Gordon, of Monroe, N.Y., Mitch Friedman and his wife, Lynda, of Aliso Viejo, California and her two grandchildren, Kimberly and Gregory. She is also survived by her sister, Naomi Goldberg and her husband, Harvey, of Levittown, N.Y. and her brother, Marvin Weissman and his wife, Edna, of Douglaston, N.Y., as well as many nieces and nephews. The funeral was held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Putnam Valley on Tuesday, May 17 in their beautiful chapel. Mr. Pells built the Parkway Diner on Route 199, Milan, in 1948. He operated the restaurant with his sister Beatrice Pells. In 1955 he opened the Howard Johnson Restaurant in Hyde Park with his wife, Mildred; they operated the restaurant until 1982. They also owned and operated the Country Tavern Restaurant in Salt Point for many years. Mr. Pells was a veteran of WW II, he served in the US Army and was assigned to the 1st Calvary Division at Fort Bliss, El Paso, TX. He was also a life member of the Hyde Park Fire Department, a charter member of the Roosevelt Fire Company #3, and a member of the Montgomery Post #429, American Legion, Rhinebeck. Born September 20, 1919, in Hyde Park, he was the son of the late William and Mary (Tator) Pells. On September 19, 1942 he married Mildred Hite at St. James Episcopal Church, Hyde Park. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Judy Pells of Schultzville, a son Richard Pells of Schultzville, one granddaughter Tracy, and her husband James T. Mott of Newburgh, and a great-granddaughter Sonia Mott. He was predeceased by three brothers and three sisters. Throughout most of his life Earl felt very privileged to have formed a lifelong friendship with his fellow firefighters as well as his dear friends from Troop K, New York State Police Troopers. He loved attending social functions, collecting memorabilia and reminiscing about the "good old days." He also received great pleasure raising Tennessee Walkers and Quarter Horses. There are no calling hours. Graveside services will be held Friday, 2 PM, at the Schultzville Cemetery, Centre Rd., Schultzville. Vance Street, Red Springs, N.C., died Tuesday, May 10, 2005 at Autumn Care of Raeford. A graveside service was held on Friday, May 13, 2005 at Alloway Cemetery in Red Springs. The Rev. Michael McGehee officiated. Surviving are two sons, John R. Tudor of West Columbia, S.C. and Charles T.
