"Mrs. B" Borello, longtime area resident and dental assistant for Dr. Jack Friedland in New Paltz, died Friday May 27, 2005 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. She was 85. The daughter of the late Anna Persico and step-daughter of the late Edward Fischer, she was born September 26, 1919 in Brooklyn, N.Y. She married George J. Borello on March 13, 1943 in Brooklyn, N.Y. He predeceased her on March 19, 1971. A parishioner of St. Joseph's Church in New Paltz, N.Y., she is survived by four daughters: Anne Malinowski of New Paltz, Margaret Schenck of Kingston, Janet Gilbert of Port Ewen, and Susan Camarata of Saugerties; two sons, Paul Borello of Highland, and George Borello of New Paltz; one brother, William Fischer of Boynton Beach, Fla.; 12 grandchildren and give great-grandchildren. Boyce, Robert L. "Poppy" Robert L. Boyce of Middletown passed away Friday May 27, 2005 at Castle Point Veterans Hospital in Beacon after a long illness. The son of the late Alden and Edna Myers Boyce, Robert was born in Beacon and was a lifelong resident of the area. He proudly served in the United States Army during World War II and was a retired meat manager for the Grand Union Company. Robert is survived by his wife, Jennie, at home; three sons: Gary Boyce and his wife, Patricia, Ronald Boyce of North Carolina, and Anthony Broccoli and his wife, Peggy, of Middletown; one daughter, Rose Broccoli of Red Bank, N.J.; 14 grandchildren: Gary Boyce of Peru, Kathleen Hart, Diane Kibler, Loreli Moore, Cindy Boyce, Ronald Boyce, Jr., Danielle Boyce and Kevin Boyce, all of North Carolina, Tracie Strack of New Jersey, Christopher Strack and his wife, Theresa, of Woodridge, Daniel Strack of New Jersey, and Jennifer, Kelly and Alyssa Broccoli of Middletown; 17 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; many brothers and sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces and nephews. Bull, Richard Wait "Pete" Richard "Pete" Wait Bull, of Blooming Grove, a lifetime resident of the area, entered into rest Friday May 27, 2005 in Montgomery, N.Y. He was 90. Son of the late John S. and Lucille Rawlins Wait Bull, he was born July 31, 1914 in Newburgh, N.Y. Pete was a former majority owner of Stephan M. Bull Wholesale Grocers of Front Street in Newburgh until sold in 1959, then became a Licensed Real Estate Broker until his retirement in the 1990's. He was a member of the City Club of Newburgh, the Powelton Club of Balmville, and the Lions Club of Newburgh, and then later Wallkill. He was an avid golfer, bowler, equestrian, and an animal lover. He was a kind and loving person, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and will be dearly missed. The family wishes to express their deepest thanks to the staff of the Montgomery Nursing Home for their kindness and compassion. Carroll, also known to many as Deacon Carroll and Deacon Harold, died Friday May 27, 2005 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital. He was 89. A longtime resident of the area, he was the proprietor of the Emperial 400 Motel in Newburgh, N.Y. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and A.A.R.P., and former member of the VFW. Harold was a First Sergeant of the 129th Infantry Regiment of the 37th Division in the U.S. Army during World War II. In combat for 38 months in S.W. Pacific and Luzon in the Pacific, he was wounded at Clarke Frild, Luzon and received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Soldier's Medal. He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Church in Gardiner; ordained by Cardinal Cooke on February 10, 1979 at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City; visited the sick in hospitals and nursing homes throughout the area; was a Moderator at Society of Our Lady Miraculous Metal Novena at St. Charles; and was a member of Nocturnal Adoration Society at St. Charles Church. The son of Harry J. Carroll and Ethel Scott, he was born January 26, 1916 in New York City, N.Y. He married Doris Maas on January 12, 1946 in St. Clare Catholic Church, Rosedale, Long Island, N.Y. She predeceased him on December 23, 1992. He is survived by two nephews: Stephen Carroll of New Hampshire, and Raymond Carroll of Marlton, N.J.; and four nieces: Chris Harvey of Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y., Eileen Merkhofer of Mt. The daughter of the late Nicholas and Mary Hinkey McGrath, she was born March 11, 1911 in Philadelphia, Pa. She was the widow of Linford B. Eltz. She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel R.C. Church in Middletown, and of the Mulberry House Senior Center. A family statement reads: "She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her great faith and love of life is an inspiration to all of us. She will be in our hearts forever." Survivors include her children: Thomas B. Eltz and his wife, Nancy, of Rock Hill, Marylin A. Morrissey and her husband, Sal, of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Brian J. Eltz and his wife, Gretchen, of Middletown. Gillespie, Madeline The hills of Ireland have called back one of their own. Madeline Gillespie, 75, died Thursday May 26, 2005 at Martin Memorial Hospital in Stuart, Fla. She was born on Mallow, County Cork, Ireland and was one of nine siblings. She was preceded in death by her sister, Nora. Madeline lived in Palm City, Fla. for seven years, coming from Middletown, N.Y. She was of the Catholic faith and attended Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Palm City. Madeline leaves behind her loving husband, Jim, of 54 years. In addition to her husband, survivors include her daughters, Rita Fogarty of London, England, and Noreen Mazza of Winter Park, Fla.; her sons, James Gillespie of Middletown and Paul Gillespie of Otisville. Madeline was the grandmother of seven grandchildren: Michael, Shannon, Lauren, Ciara, Emily, Brydie, and Ian. A family statement reads: "She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother who loved the simple things in life. Most of all, she cherished her family more than anything. All who knew her will always remember her sense of humor, perception of people and her warm, loving nature. She will be missed every day of our lives." Israelski, Sam Sam Israelski, son of Dora and Itzhak Israelski is survived by his wife Shery, 3 sons, Ira, Dennis, and Ronnie, their wives, Robin, Kristina and Mary, 8 grandchildren, Aaron, Julia, Michelle, Katelyn, Sean, Aidan, Alec and Kamryn, and his sister Sally. He was born in Wloclawek, Poland. Of his seven family members only he and his sister Sally survived the Holocaust. From 1939 - 1945 Sam survived as a prisoner in labor and extermination camps. After the liberation Sam married Shery Pollak and immigrated to the U.S. He worked his way up from menial jobs to becoming president of Valerie Sportswear. He raised three sons two of whom are physicians and one a special education administrator who later joined his dad in business. Sam was a true humanitarian who dedicated his life to philanthropic endeavors. Sam loved this country so much and helped bring other families from Europe and Israel to America enabling them to realize the American dream. A truly great man who touched so many lives, he will be greatly missed. Henry was a member of the Church of the Infant Saviour in Pine Bush, N.Y.; was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II; and was a former member of the Walker Valley Sportsman Club. He was the widower of Gertrude Keavney Kellner. He is survived by his son, Henry T. Kellner and wife, Agnes, of Pine Bush; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Kellner of Suffern, N.Y.; grandchildren: Thomas H. Tempel, Winifred May Winifred May Tempel of Roscoe, a retired teacher and lifelong area resident, died Saturday May 28, 2005 at the Roscoe Community Nursing Home. She was 94. The daughter of the late Perry and Florence Travis Tremper, she was born March 5, 1911 at Youngs Gap, Liberty, N.Y. Winifred, "Winnie", was a teacher for over 35 years. She taught in one-room schoolhouses in Goulds, Horton Brook and Callicoon Center until the Roscoe Central School became consolidated. She then taught at the Roscoe Central School and retired in 1966. She later attended the State University at Oneonta, studying for her Bachelor's degree. Upon retirement, she and her husband, George, who were married for over 60 years, lived in the state of Florida. George died in 1995 and she returned to Roscoe to live. She was a communicant of the Gate of Heaven Church in Roscoe, where she had been the organist for many years; and a member of the New York State Retired Teachers Association. Survivors include a son, James P. Tempel and his wife, Betty, of Roscoe; daughters-in-law, Alice Banks of Roscoe, and Barbara Tempel of Liberty; her beloved grandchildren: Megan Tempel and her fiance, Matthew Milner, James Tempel, Toni Navarro and her husband, Jamie, Karen Hall and her husband, Gregg, Perry Banks and his wife, Pamela, and Richard Banks and his wife, Judy; 12 great-grandchildren; and a niece and two nephews. Van Buren, Sr. of San Antonio, Texas and Marlboro, N.Y., passed away peacefully at The Farm in Marlboro on May 27, 2005. Mr. Van Buren is survived by his wife of 48 years, Elaine (Spagnola); his four children and their spouses: Toni-Marie Van Buren and husband, Steven Saldana; Robert W. and Mariann Van Buren, Jr.; Karen Van Buren and spouse, Joe Jared; and Kathleen and David Kelleher; and six grandchildren: Joe, Danny, Will, Annie, Maggie and Mollie. The son of Hiram A. and Margaret McCloskey Van Buren, he was born in Newburgh, N.Y. on August 26, 1930. He attended Newburgh schools through his graduation at age 16. Beginning at Mastic Tile Corp in Newburgh, Van Buren had a more than 50-year career in the flooring industry that took him around the world, including his final position as Vice-Chairman and CEO of Domco Tarkett, Inc. in Montreal, from which he retired in 2001. Moving often, he built flooring plants in Germany and Japan, and was employed by Ruberoid and GAF in Vails Gate and Joliet, Amtico, Azrock in San Antonio and finally Domco Industries, Montreal in 1989. Mr. Van Buren was predeceased by his parents, and brother, John Donald Van Buren of Newburgh. Local funeral arrangements will be in Marlboro, N.Y. at The DiDonato Funeral Home, 1290 Route 9W. Visitation will be held on Tuesday May 31, 2005 from 5-8 PM and a Funeral Mass will be celebrated June 1 at 10:30 AM at St. Mary's Church, Route 9W, Marlboro. There will be a memorial service in San Antonio, Texas the first week of June. Details are pending. Wasserman, Adelle L. Adelle L. Wasserman, a longtime resident of Woodridge, died May 27, 2005 in Pompano Beach, Fla. after a brief illness. 'Delly' was born February 11, 1922 in Woodridge and lived there her entire life. She had a winter home in Deerfield Beach, Fla., which she shared for many years with her loving companion, Victor Thompson. She helped found and was very active in the Alzheimer's Day Care Center, Deerfield Beach, Fla. Adelle was the widow of the late Harry Wasserman; and mother of four sons who survive her: Steven, Robert, Daniel, and Thomas; mother-in-law of Babette, Joanne, and Janice; grandmother of Dr. Eric Wasserman and Brooke Naccarato; great-grandmother of Jack Kyle and Brandon James Naccarato. Our mother was a unique and very special person who will be deeply missed. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 31 at the Joseph N.
