He was born to Giacomo and Anna Zarola Anania on May 2, 1930 in Curinga Catanzaro, Italy. On August 20, 1960, he married his beloved wife Catherine Denisi whom he had met in their hometown of Curinga. She predeceased him on March 27, 1982. Joseph was a Carabinieri, the equivalent of the Italian State Police until he moved to the U.S. in 1960. After moving, he was employed by Dubet Manufacturing, Luna Bakery and Joe's Pizza for many years. Also, he was an usher and active parishioner of St. Francis Church in Newburgh. The family statement reads, "Joe was well-known for his walks to the Newburgh Mall and for his social nature, Singing and Whistling. He loved to talk and adored all children. We would joke that he was so popular, he could be elected mayor. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him but, especially by his children and grandchildren. We take comfort in knowing he is reunited with his wife whom he has missed so much over the years." He is survived by sons, James Anania and his wife Eileen of Cooperstown, N.Y. and their children, Catherine, Victoria, James and Isabella, Vincent Anania and his wife Marie and daughter Emily all of Yorktown, Va; one bother, Vinanzo; two sisters, Giovanna and Maria; his in-laws, John and Vickie Miller, Dominick and Karen Denisi, Vincent and Pamela Denisi and Sebastian and Sue Denisi. Also many nephews and nieces in Newburgh and Italy. He was predeceased by a brother Antonio and a sister Elonara both of Italy. His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, November 10 at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Church in Newburgh. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in New Windsor. The daughter of the late Webster and Roxie Hill Crowell, she was born February 13, 1913 in Blairstown, N.J. She was the widow of Delbert DeGroat. Helen attended the United Methodist Church. DeLessio, a retired clerk from the City of Newburgh Police Department, died Sunday, November 6, 2005 at St. Luke's Hospital, Newburgh. She was 68. The daughter of Adam and Dorothy E. Baehm Sweikata, she was born September 16, 1937 in Goshen Hospital. Gail grew up in Montgomery and moved to Newburgh after marriage. She had been a Girl Scout and Cub Scout mother, a member of the former Union Grove School PTO, classroom mother and chaperone of many class trips through NFA. She taught cooking club for one year at Union Grove. She worked as a proof reader for the former Stewart Citizen before that newspaper moved from Newburgh. Mrs. DeLessio enjoyed painting with water colors, cooking and eating, crocheting, sewing, computer games, taking care of her plants, playing the piano and reading trashy mystery stories. She was a devoted wife and a loving mother and grandmother. She was a very caring person with a great sense of humor. Survivors include her husband, John P. Sonia was born in Monticello on April 22, 1963 to the late Alvin and Lucille Etta Edwards Dumas Sr. Sonia attended and was baptized at the Bethlehem Temple Church, Monticello. He was 82 years old. Salvatore was the son of the late Vincenzo and Elizabeth Giambalvo, he was born on January 21, 1923 in Brooklyn, N.Y. Salvatore is survived by Martha, his wife of 58 years. In addition to his beloved wife he is survived by his son Vincent Giambalvo and his wife Betty, of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; his daughter Elizabeth McManus and her husband Thomas McManus of Monroe, N.Y.; his grandchildren Donna, Timothy, Tara and husband Brett, Betty and husband Joey, Sam, Kathleen (Weenie), Lisa; and his great-granddaughters Gabriella and Gianna. He is also survived by his brother Joseph; sisters Mary Ann and Gloria; sister-in-law, Evelyn, Rose, Anna, Frances, Bessie and Sister Antonina; and many nieces and nephews. A family statement reads, "Pa loved his family, working, his country place and being busy. He was happiest when he was building, fixing, baking, cooking, sewing, carving or creating something for his wife, children or grandchildren. His greatest sadness during the last few years was no longer being able to do for others. He did take joy in spending time with his family, playing cards with his wife, hearing stories of his grandchildren's successes and knowing his son was building a home in his 'county place.' His greatest happiness was his wife Martha, who tended to him each day with love and devotion. He told his family every day how lucky he was to have his Martha and that his "Massi" was his Angel without wings." She was a member of the Walden Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Austin. She graduated from the Warwick High School and SUNY New Paltz. She was the widow of Theodore A. Larsen Jr. She is survived by her son, Neal R. He was 86. Born on December 3, 1918 in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of the late Paul and Mary Esposito Marotta. He married Florence D'Ambrosio on February 5, 1949 at St. Francis D'Chantal Church in Brooklyn. Michael was an avid stamp collector. He also played semi-pro baseball in the Army while stationed in Arkansas. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, at home, two daughters: Susan Warner of New Rochelle, N.Y. and Michelle Marotta and her companion Dominick D'Agosta of New Windsor, N.Y.; one grandson, Andrew Warner of New Rochelle; one sister, Mary Balman and her husband Sheldon of San Francisco, Calif. and two nieces. Margaret Stamm retired in 1990 as the Executive Director of the Hudson Valley Chapter of the March of Dimes. She was the loving wife of Paul J. Stamm, who preceded her in death on December 14, 1985. VanFleet, Eric Jonathan Eric Jonathan VanFleet, 48, died on Monday, November 7, 2005 surrounded by his family at his home in Pittsfield, Mass. Born in Middletown, N.Y., May 24, 1957 the son of the late C. Clark VanFleet and Patricia Vivian Merkley VanFleet Hardy, he was a 1975 graduate of Middletown, NY High School, a 1977 graduate of Orange County Community College and a 1979 graduate of SUNY Utica NY with a degree in electrical engineering. He was employed as an electrical engineer at General Dynamics in Pittsfield in the advanced information systems division for the past 26 years. Mr. VanFleet enjoyed skiing, hiking, outdoor activities, camping, astronomy, working on his cars, genealogy and playing chess. Besides his mother of Spring Hill, Fla., he leaves a daughter Alyssa VanFleet of Dalton; three sons, Kevin, Dustin and Jeffrey VanFleet all of Dalton; two brothers, Clark VanFleet and Richard VanFleet both of Middletown; and a sister Anita Lamont of Middletown. He was predeceased by his stepfather Charles "Rock" Hardy. His sister-in-law Susan VanFleet and his brother-in-law Stuart Lamont; also several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins, survive him. The funeral will be on Friday at 4 p.m. at the Wellington Funeral Home. Cremation will follow. Calling hours at the funeral home will be on Friday from 2-4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Eric J. Watts, a retail sales clerk with Home Depot in Newburgh, and 29-year resident of the area, died Sunday, November 6, 2005 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital in Cornwall, N.Y. He was 54. The son of Raymond Watts and Dolly Hershour Watts, he was born December 14, 1950 in Westchester, Pa. Robert was a member of the City of Newburgh Little League; a coach for the New Windsor Girls' Softball League; he played Senior League Basketball; and was a member of the New Windsor Recreation League. He is survived by one son, David Watts of Pittsburgh, Pa.; three daughters: Keri Watts, Melissa Watts and Lauren Watts, all of Newburgh; one sister, Christine Watson of Newark, Del.; two brothers, Richard Watts of Cornwall, and Ronald Watts of Rehoboth, Del.; three grandchildren: Gregory Maneely, Christopher Babcock, and Nicholas Maneely; and nieces and nephews: Michelle and Jennifer Watson, and Jared and Crystle Watts. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2005 from 9-11 a.m. at the Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, Inc., 337 Hudson St., Cornwall-On-Hudson, N.Y. Funeral services will follow on Wednesday, November 9 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Father John Vondras officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, New Windsor, N.Y.
