Russell Frederick, Jr., 63, formerly of Chelsea, N.Y., died November 18, 2005, at home surrounded by family and friends. Born on February 28, 1942 in Beacon, N.Y., he was the son of Russell and Minnie Zoffaniro Frederick, Sr. In 1962, he married Alice Bardong at St. Joachim's Church in Beacon, N.Y. Russell was an Engineering Manager at IBM in East Fishkill; owned Frederick's Greenhouse, formerly known as Sunny Gardens; and owned and operated Frederick's Dairy Barn, now known as Lily Logan's. Russell enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing cards with his family and friends, and was a lifetime member of Slater Chemical Fire Company, Glenham N.Y., Waterkill Rod and Gun Club, Wiccopee Rod and Gun Club, Chelsea Sportsman Club, and a member of Rouses Point Sportsman Club in Rouses Point, N.Y. In addition to his wife, Russell is survived by his daughters, Sherry Lynn Frederick of Blooming Grove and Donna Collins and her husband, Gary, of Red Hook; brother, Ronald Frederick and wife, Wendy, of Chelsea; grandchildren: Ryan, Ashley and Chynna Collins of Red Hook, and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Gray, Pearl Pearl Gray, a lifelong resident of Sullivan County, passed away at home with her family by her side on Friday, November 18, 2005 at the age of 78. The daughter of the late Fannie Sattell and Harry Levitz, she was born in Monticello, N.Y. In addition to raising her family, Pearl also worked outside of the home. She and Alex, her beloved husband of 57 years, owned and operated Gray's Center in Mountaindale and, later, Robi-Lane Cottages in Woodbourne. Pearl was an active member of the Town of Fallsburg Kiwanis. She will be sadly missed by her loving husband, Alex; her three daughters: Lanie Smith of Sunrise, Fla., Robin Kister and husband, George, of Middletown, and Lisa Gray of McLean, Va.; grandchildren: Jason Greenberg and Jennifer Podolak, Evan and Emily Kister, and Griffin, Abby, and Tessa Smalley; and great-grandchildren, Gage and Ty Podolak; and by her sister, Gertie Becker of Tupelo, Miss. He was born July 26, 1917 in Woodbury Falls, N.Y. to the late Francis and Katherine Kania. Peter proudly served his country during World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theatres. After returning home, he married Frances Geysen on October 31, 1945 at St. Mary's Church in Washingtonville. He was an employee of IBM in Poughkeepsie retiring in 1985 after 32 years of dedicated service. He was a member of the Bethlehem Rod and Gun Club, the IBM Retirees Club and enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and woodworking. Survivors include his devoted wife of 60 years, Frances; loving children: Virginia A. Solla and husband, Eric, of Tyngsboro, Mass., Juanita M. Wells and husband, Roger, of London, Ky., and Patricia A. Farrell and husband, Mark, of Pleasant Valley; cherished grandchildren: Tammy, Tim, Ben, Victoria, Stephanie, Nina and Steven. He was 79. The son of the late Peter H. Kelly Sr. and Helen Fitzpatrick Kelly, he was born July 14, 1926 in Port Jervis, N.Y. He was married to the late Anna Mary Trovei in St. Mary's R.C. Church in Port Jervis on October 13, 1949. He was a member of St. Joseph's R.C. Church, Matamoras, Pa.; a daily communicant and member of the Holy Name Society. He graduated from St. Mary's Parochial School in 1939 and the Port Jervis High School in 1943. He was a life member of the Knights of Columbus Council 471; life member of the Tri State Naval Ship 7241 and past Exhalted Ruler of B.P.O.E. 645, Port Jervis. He joined the Navy at age 17 and served during World War II in the Pacific Theatre of Operations on the U.S.S. Panamint. Survivors include his brother, Alfred E. Kelly; sister, Patricia B. Reedy; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years; his beloved son, Michael Patrick Kelly; his brothers: Peter Jr., Jackie and Jerome; and sisters, Helen and Rita Marie. Born in Little Neck, Queens on November 16, 1952, he was the son of Thomas F. and Gertrude Michaelman McNamara. Art's passions included gardening, reading, bird watching, and most of all laughing with others. Art was the beloved husband and best friend of Beth Knowlton; well-loved brother of Clare Majorrossy, Eleanor, George, Thomas McNamara, and the late Ann Nelson. He is also survived by 14 nieces and nephews. Per his request, a private memorial service will take place in the spring. Morrow, Alison Alison Morrow, a summer resident of Cornwall-On-Hudson for many years, died peacefully at home in New York City on October 26, 2005 after a short illness. She was 91. The daughter of the late Dr. Albert Sidney Morrow and Marjorie Wyld Morrow, she was born April 15, 1914 in New York City. Alison graduated from Cathedral School of St. Mary in Garden City, Long Island. She worked as Head Librarian at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Research Center in Rye, N.Y., retiring in 1984. During World War II, Alison joined the American Red Cross and served in Belfast, Northern Ireland until the end of the war, then in Germany for a year. Alison never married but had many friends who greatly valued her optimism and positive outlook on life. She was always great company and put all who met her at ease. She kept her good humor until her death. Sailing along the coast of Maine with friends was a favorite summer activity. She was predeceased by her brother, Albert Sidney Morrow Jr. of Cornwall. Survivors include nephews, Christopher Morrow and Ian Morrow and wife, Patricia O'Reilly Morrow, and sister-in-law, Barbara Morrow, all of Cornwall; and goddaughters in the Untied States, England and South Africa; and cousins. In her last years, she got great joy and amusement from her grandniece, Cliona Morrow and grandnephew, Cian Morrow. She is greatly missed. The daughter of the late Rose Frances and Hans C. Jensen, she was born on May 17, 1922 in Brooklyn, N.Y. She was the widow of Crescenzo "Chris" Scipione, who died in June 1984. She worked for the Liberty Central School District and was retired from Community General Hospital in Harris, N.Y. as a unit secretary. She is survived by her daughter, Maria Scipione (Ron Linville); and grandson Crescenzo Scipione of Rochester; one sister, Beatrice M. Meachum of Liberty; sister-in-law, Desdemona Colarullo; nieces: Kathleen Meachum, Maureen Barber, Nancy Meachum, Linda Brewer, Lillian Picano and Sonja Gherman; nephews: James Colarullo, Peter Meachum, Dominic Scipione, Robert Scipione and Donald Scipione. Walters, Frances Ruth Frances Ruth Walters, a retired bank teller and secretary for Kingston Trust in Marlboro, N.Y., Crafter, and 58-year resident of Marlboro, died November 19, 2005 at Wingate of Ulster in Highland, N.Y. She was 94. The daughter of the late Peter Knoob and Barbara Hoerning, she was born February 15, 1911 in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. She was the widow of Joseph John Walters, whom she married on May 31, 1941 in Brooklyn, N.Y. Frances was a member of the Marlboro-Milton Home Arts Assoc. since 1959, where she taught craft classes and served as treasurer (1974-79) and president (1979-85). She was an honorary member of Town of Marlboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps "TOMVAC" since 1972, where she ran the annual fund drive from 1970-91, and worked at Bingo for nine years. She was a financial secretary for Christ Lutheran Church in Newburgh, and has been a congregant since 1951; a member of Friends of the Marlboro Free Library since 1973; secretary/treasurer of the Marlboro Cemetery Assoc., a group that cares for a historic cemetery on Route 9W; and former member of the National Association of Banking Women. Frances was nominated for Ulster County Senior Citizen of the Year in 1991 and received an award in October from Chapter 975 of A.A.R.P. for "outstanding service to the community." She was a volunteer for the New York Quilt Project, assisted in quilt registry and photo documentation, and a volunteer for Hudson Valley Blood Service, doing paperwork for blood drives. A member of A.A.R.P. since 1975, she was a volunteer crafts teacher for the past nine years; a trip committee member for ten years; and trip chairman in 1979 and 1980. Survivors include her son, Ralph Walters and his wife, Anita, of Marlboro, and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 21, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the DiDonato Funeral Service, Inc., 1290 Rt. 9W, Marlboro. Ward, John Christopher John Christopher Ward, 21, of Castle Rock, Colo., died Saturday, November 12, 2005 in Roscoe where he was tragically taken home to be with the Lord in a motor vehicle accident. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of Christ in Castle Rock, Colo. John was born on August 6, 1984 in Denver, Colo., the son of Raymond W. and Linda K. (Walker) Ward. John lived in Colorado only a few months before before he moved to New York state, where he loved "working" in his Grandma's General Store and playing on the farm with cows, cats, dogs, sheep and his sisters. When he was eight years old, he moved to Phoenix, Ariz., where he started learning to skateboard and BMX race. In the 5th grade, he moved to Kingman, Ariz., where he continued BMX racing in competition. While in high school, he competed in weight lifting and won several trophies including a World Record for Bench Press. After graduation from Kingman High School he moved back to Colorado for better job opportunities. After a couple of years in Colorado, he became adventurous and moved to White Sulphur Springs with his sister and her fianc‚, where he was working as an Electrician's Assistant. He was really enjoying the outdoors and rural town atmosphere. He will always be in our hearts. John is survived by his parents, Raymond and Linda Ward of Castle Rock; grandparents, John and Esther Walker of Castle Rock and Christa Ward of Callans, Va.; two sisters, Stacie Young and her fianc‚, Brian Wolcott, of White Sulphur Springs and Melissa Stubbs and her husband, Mike Stubbs, of Castle Rock; and tons of family and friends who love him very much.
