"Irish" Harriet M. "Irish" de Illy of Van Kleeck's Lane, Town of Ulster, died Saturday, November 26, 2005. She was 82. She was born in Middletown, N.Y. on April 10, 1923, a daughter of the late John and Agatha Schmidt Moran. Mrs. de Illy was raised in Middletown and prior to her marriage, worked at the Orange County Department of Social Services. On August 6, 1944, she married Attila "Butch" de Illy at St. Joseph's Church, Middletown. An area resident since 1958, Mrs. de Illy worked for Ulster County Department of Social Services for several years. She volunteered at The People's Place and was a parishioner of St. Catherine Laboure Church. She was also a member of the Altar-Rosary Society at St. Catherine's. One brother, John Moran and three sisters: Agnes, Marguerite and Ellen, all predeceased her. Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Attila "Butch" de Illy; seven children: Victor de Illy of the Town of Ulster, Colleen Neese and her husband, Bruce, of Syria, Gregory de Illy and his wife, Melanie, of Atlanta, Ga., Marilyn de Illy of San Mateo, Calif., Timothy de Illy of New York City, Christopher de Illy of Kingston, and Gerard de Illy and his partner, Chuck Harry, of Novato, Calif.; one sister, Catherine Brassell of Long Beach, Calif.; five grandchildren: Fred DeSeino, Jonathan, Michelle, Gena and Madeleine de Illy; one great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn; and many nieces and nephews. Pauline Falick of Goshen, formerly of West Palm Beach, Fla. and Middletown, N.Y., died November 26, 2005 at Valley View Center in Goshen, N.Y. She was 92. The daughter of Charles Miller and Yetta Tauber Miller, she was born January 20, 1913 in New York, N.Y. She lived in Middletown for 33 years (from 1944 to 1977) then moved to Florida. A former member of Temple Sinai in Middletown; Sisterhood of Temple Sinai and Hadassah, Pauline formerly worked with her husband in The Main Bakers, located on East Main Street in Middletown. She was the widow of Nathan Falick and is survived by two daughters, Renee F. and her husband, Stuart Greenwald, of Middletown, and Faith D. and her husband, Dr. Elliott Segal, of Brookline, Mass.; three grandchildren: Jill C. Greenwald, Nancy B. and her husband, Dr. David Scher, and Natalie L. Segal; and one great-grandson, Ethan M. Scher. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Sidney Miller. Figueroa of Newburgh, a longtime resident of the area, entered into rest Saturday, November 26, 2005 in Vassar Brothers Hospital, Poughkeepsie. She was 84. Daughter of the late Augustin and Rafaela Laureano Figueroa, she was born July 7, 1921 in Puerto Rico. Julia was a parishioner of St. Patrick's Church, Newburgh. She worked for the school system in Puerto Rico, and very much enjoyed cooking and feeding all the children. She was very proud of her 30 years of service there. Survivors include three daughters, Nereida Ramos of Puerto Rico, Olga Martinez of Florida, and Carmen Perez of Newburgh; one brother, Rafael Martinez of Puerto Rico; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her daughter, Carmen L. DeCara; her son, Carlos H. Polanco; one sister Rosario Laureano and a brother Heriberto Martinez. Fleischer, Betty Betty Fleischer, loving mother of Susan, grandmother of Glenn and Jeff, and great-grandmother of Julia, Paige and Drew, died Friday, November 25, 2005 at Arden Hill Hospital. Mrs. Fleischer was born June 27, 1913 in Budapest, Hungary, the daughter of the late Simon and Fanny Lustig. She was a longtime resident of Southwinds Retirement Home in Middletown. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Emmanuel. Gallagher, Gail Suzanne Gail Suzanne Gallagher, a Registered Nurse and a lifelong resident of the Town of Newburgh, died November 26, 2005 at home. The daughter of the late Harry and Betty Dabrusin, she was born December 31, 1938 in Newburgh, N.Y. Gail passed away after a short illness surrounded by her family. She was 66 years young. Gail graduated from NFA in 1956. She continued her education and became a Registered Nurse. She is a 1961 graduate (alumni) of the St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing. Prior to her beginning her nursing career, she worked as a secretary at Steinfields in Newburgh and the PX at Stewart Field. She was also an active member of the Town of Newburgh Volunteer Ambulance Corps for many years, holding many positions. Gail worked at both Cornwall Hospital and St. Luke's Hospital. She took a few years off to be with her family and returned to her nursing career at Sylcox Nursing Home in 1976. She retired from Sylcox as Director of Nursing in early 2002. She was retired briefly and returned to the Sylcox Family as Director of Education at Mid Hudson Managed Home Care in June 2002. Shortly before her passing she achieved one of her goals - the agency received the NYS Approved for Personal Care Aide Training. Her home health aide training course had also been approved by the NYS Health Department. Gail enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas, Florida and Maine. She also loved camping and "tolerated" snowmobiling in Upstate New York with her children. She was admired, loved and respected by all who knew her and will be forever missed. Her motto in life was, "I pass through this world but once. If there is any good I can do, and kindness I can show to any human being, let me do it now. Let me not defer nor neglect it for I shall not pass this way again." She is survived by her children: two sons, Timothy Gallagher and wife, Pam, of Walden, and Daniel Gallagher and wife, Christina, of Wallkill; one daughter, Bernadette Scheible and husband, Chris, of New Windsor; brother, Jack Dabrusin and wife, Margaret, of Newburgh; two sisters, Donna Carbone of Slate Hill, and Wendy Lewis and husband, Michael, of Cape Coral, Fla.; and grandchildren: Courtney Scheible and Tanner Scheible, both of New Windsor, Keegan Gallagher, Kyrstin Gallagher and Megan Gallagher, all of Walden; and the children's father, Don Gallagher of Wallkill. He was 45 years old. He will surely be missed by everyone that knew him. He was the son of the late John Kinsley. He was a chef at Schlesinger's Steak House. He also served in the U.S. Army from 1978 to 1981. Kniceley, Ruth Catherine Ruth Catherine Kniceley, 77, of Rosendale, died suddenly on Saturday, November 26, 2005 at the Benedictine Hospital in Kingston, N.Y. Born on December 16, 1927 in New Petersburg, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Dane and Etta Bell Willis of Bainbridge, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Charles Edgar Kniceley in 1981, and her brother, Joe Willis in 2000. Catherine was a bookkeeper and office manager for various companies in Ohio, and a former Town Clerk in Leesburg, Ohio. When she retired, she moved to Rosendale to be near her children. She was born February 28, 1912 in Unadilla, N.Y., the daughter of the late Lee and the late Alice Albrecht Dewey. She was married to the late Robert G. Mason, Sr.; he died June 12, 1976. She worked for 47 years as a chambermaid at the Eddy Farm Hotel, Sparrowbush. A family statement reads: "Her family was her life." She is survived by four sons: Robert G. McMahon, Virginia H. "Ginny" Virginia H. "Ginny" McMahon, a native of Sullivan County and a 40-year resident of Middletown, died at home on November 26, 2005. She was 65 years old. Ginny was born on September 22, 1940 in Roscoe, the daughter of Vincent and Florence Haynes. She graduated from Roscoe High School in 1958 and Orange County Community College in 1960. She worked at the Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine and the Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers in New York City before her marriage to John J. McMahon in 1964. In Middletown, she taught for many years in the "Young Saturdays" children's program at Orange County Community College. She is survived by her husband at home; a son, John and his wife, Denise, of Sterling, Va.; a daughter, Judith of Middletown; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jim and Roberta McMahon of Boca Raton, Fla.; cousins, nieces and nephews. Born in New York City on November 11, 1936, he was the son of the late Modesto Milian and Guillermina Milian. Juan retired from the New York City Transit Authority in 1986 and was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Goshen. He was a Korean War veteran. Juan is survived by his wife of 43 years, Estebania (Stephanie), at home; one son, John and his wife, Theresa, of Buffalo, N.Y.; daughters, Kathryn Milian of Centreville, Va., and Karyn Milian of Goshen; grandchildren: Everet Milian, Jamal Milian, Jordan Powlus, Ky'ani Brinson and Kyrie Brinson; three brothers: Raymond and Modesto, Jr. of Puerto Rico, and Victor of New York City; many cousins, nieces and nephews. Passante, Ernest Paul "Ernie" Ernest Paul "Ernie" Passante, age 83, a Highland resident all his life, died November 26, 2005 at home with his loving family at his side. Ernie worked at IBM Poughkeepsie for 27 years, retiring in 1974. Prior to IBM, he worked on the West Shore Railroad, and for John Aborio on the Taconic State Parkway. Ernie graduated from Highland High School and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from January 1943 to January 1946. While in the Armed Guard, he manned guns on the merchant ships in convoys. He served in the Pacific and Indian Oceans and in the Mediterranean Sea. He received the Navy Commendation for Bravery in 1943 and for action in the Mediterranean Sea. He received the following World War II ribbons: American Campaign, European African, Eastern Campaign, Asiatic Pacific Campaign and the Bronze Star. Ernie was a member of the Highland American Legion Post #193, and a member of V.F.W. Post #8645 in New Paltz. He was a member of A.A.R.P., the IBM Country Club and Quarter Century Club, and Apple Greens Golf Course in Highland. Ernie was an avid golfer and fast pitch softball player. He was inducted into the Dutchess County Fast Pitch Softball Hall of Fame in 1991. He played in the Downtown League in Poughkeepsie, the Highland Fast Pitch League and the IBM A League (fast pitch). He also played in the Wednesday Evening Golf League at the IBM Country Club for approximately 15 years. Ernie was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and a Ted Williams fan since 1939. Born in Highland on November 24, 1922, Ernie was the son of Paul Passante and Anna Salzano Passante, both deceased. On June 12, 1949 in St. Augustine Church in Highland, he married Jean Giamportone. His wife Jean predeceased him on September 14, 1973. On July 11, 1985, Ernie married Marion E. Dougherty, who survives him at home. Also surviving Ernie is his daughter, Patricia Barrera of Highland; his son, Paul Passante and his wife, Kathleen, of Highland; and a daughter, Allison Pavlakis of Rhinebeck. He is also survived by a stepdaughter, Sheryl Affuso and her husband, Alan, of Wallkill; and a stepson, Robert Valentino and his wife, Tracy, of Highland. He leaves behind his grandchildren: Zachary LaFalce, Taven and Taylor Barrera, Lauren, Kaitlyn, Alyse and Renee Passante of Highland, and Jeanne, Johnny and Jackson Pavlakis of Rhinebeck; also Bobby, Coreena, and Salina Valentino of Highland, and Shalana and Shane Affuso of Wallkill; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Also surviving him are four brothers: Frank "Matt" Passante and his wife, Shirley, of Fort Pierce, Fla., Paul Passante Jr. and his wife, Fran, of Mt. Bethel, Pa., Henry "Hank" Passante and his wife, Jean, of Highland, and Joseph "Eddie" Passante, also of Highland. Ernie also leaves behind three sisters: Marion "Ena" Kusmuk and her husband, Mike, of Highland, Margaret Schaffert and her husband, Ernie, and Rose Marinucci and her husband, Tony, both of Ocala, Fla.; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Passante (Neil's wife) and Shirley Passante (Augie's wife), both of Highland. Ernie was predeceased by a sister, Janet Auringer; brothers, Carmine "Neil" Passante, Julius "Lefty" Passante, and Augustine "Augie" Passante; and two sisters-in-law, Viola Passante and Helen Passante. Sosler, 76, of Spring Hill, Fla., passed away Friday, November 25, 2005 at the Hernando Care Center in Brooksville, Fla. She was born in Warwick, N.Y. and moved from New Hampton to Spring Hill, Fla. 13 years ago. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church. Her parents, one brother and four sisters preceded her in death. Survivors include her husband, Frank, at home; two sons, Frank Jr. and his wife, Maryjane, of Littleton, Colo., and Mark of Memphis, Tenn.; one daughter, Nadine Beam and her husband, Glen, of New Hampton; one granddaughter, Brianne Boyce of New Hampton; and one brother, Russell Hoyt and his wife, Lynn, of Modesto, Calif. Tillson, 76, of Stone Ridge, died Sunday, November 27, 2005 at the Kingston Hospital. She was born July 15, 1929 in Kingston, N.Y., a daughter of the late Homer and Cornelia Brown Van Aken. She was a Stone Ridge resident for the past 54 years, and was a member of the Pilgrim Holiness Church in Stone Ridge. Her husband of 56 years, William "Bill" Tillson, died October 24, 2004. She is survived by two daughters, Sharon Vavolizza and Sara Decker; and a son, John Tillson, all of Stone Ridge. She is also survived by four sisters: Mary Dempskie of Kingston, Ruth Miller of Lake Katrine, Edna Barocco of Saugerties, and Lois Caterino of Kingston; two brothers, Harold Van Aken of Saugerties and Donald Van Aken of Kingston. She is also survived by four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; one great-grandson; three step-great-grandsons; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Augustus Van Aken and Helen Naccarato; and a brother, Bill Van Aken. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 30 at the Pilgrim Holiness Church, Route 209, Stone Ridge. The Rev. James Hallenbeck will officiate.
