Barash, a retired manager for a department within the Fire Department of the City of New York and a longtime resident of Kerhonkson, died on November 28, 2005 in Benedictine Hospital in Kingston. She was 88. Mildred was born in Brooklyn, NY on August 2, 1917 the daughter of Samuel and Pauline Levine Eiger. She lived in Rego Park, Queens most of her life and was a resident of Kerhonkson and Plantation, Fla. She was the widow of the late David Barash who died in 1978 and Louis Scheiner who died in 2004. She is survived by her children: A. Jeffrey Barash and his wife Wendy, Barry Jon Barash and his wife Janine and Cheryl Jill Cowan and her husband Randy; her grandchildren: David Barash and wife Laura, Joshua Barash, Scott Haar, Pamela Sue Barash, Dana Barash and Heather Haar. Barry, Mafalda Mondello Mafalda Mondello Barry, a housewife and resident of the area for most of her life, died November 27, 2005 at Lutheran Care Center in Poughkeepsie. She was 91. The daughter of the late Luca and Catherine Liggio Mondello, she was born March 6, 1914 in New York City. Mafalda married Charles A. Barry in 1933. He predeceased her in 1996. Survivors include her daughter, Sharlene Primavera and husband Joseph of Milton; granddaughter, Julia Primavera and husband Patrick McGlynn of Marlboro; grandson, Joseph Primavera and wife Lisa of Milton; great-grandchildren, Cailin McGlynn, Nicholas and Anthony Primavera. He was a retired central office supervisor for NY Telephone Co., Freeport, N.Y. Mr. Birr was a member of VFW Post #15010, Ocala, Fla., Masonic Lodge F & AM, Long Island, N.Y., and past president of the Rotary Club, Baldwin, N.Y. He was a US Navy World War II and Korean Conflict veteran. The son of the late Herman and Olga Radditz Birr he was born on September 10, 1916 in Brooklyn, N.Y. He was married to Katherine DeGeorge Birr. Published in the Times Herald-Record on 11/30/2005. Bruyn, Cornelius Raymond "Ray" C. Raymond Bruyn, age 96, a Pine Bush resident all his life, died November 29, 2005 at Arden Hill Hospital. Raymond was born July 22, 1909 in Pine Bush, N.Y., son of Robert G. and Florence Mundy Bruyn, both deceased. Raymond worked for the town of Crawford Highway Dept., October 1928 to February 1942 under the supervision of Walter Crawford. On December 18, 1930, Ray married Doris Dickerson Bruyn at the Presbyterian Church in Westtown, N.Y. and for many years won the Blue Ribbon Award at the annual Bull Family Picnic in Hamptonburgh, N.Y. for the longest married couple. Raymond moved his family to Hicksville, Long Island in February 1942 and went to work for Grumman Aircraft Corp. at Bethpage, Long Island where he supervised 145 men (70 hours per week) constructing airplanes for the US Navy until the end of World War II, July 1947. Raymond is an Honoree of the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. Raymond moved his wife, Doris, and sons, Douglas, Donald and Raymond back to the Bruyn homestead in Pine Bush, N.Y. where he was elected Town Superintendent of Highways under Supervisor Douglas Couser and served from January 1948 to January 1957. In January 1957, Raymond worked as a Rural Mail Carrier for the Pine Bush Post Office until May 1958. On May 12, 1958, Raymond became Orange County Highway Foreman under Superintendent Earl Dickerson, eight years at Goshen, N.Y. and ten years at Newburgh, N.Y. until his retirement on October 1, 1976. Raymond became a member of the Wallkill Masonic Lodge 627, Walden, N.Y. on November 19, 1952 and a member of Hopewell Presbyterian Church in 1949. Surviving are his wife, Doris, 96, currently a resident of Montgomery Nursing Home, three sons: Douglas and Doris Bruyn, Donald and Eleanor Bruyn, and Raymond and Marion Bruyn, all of Pine Bush, N.Y.; his grandchildren: Candy King, Wayne Bruyn, Peter Bruyn, Jon Bruyn, Donna Jones, Lisa Sessler, Barry Bruyn, Susan Pondi, Sarah Clark, James Bruyn, Greg Bruyn, Lynne Smith, Kevin and Alicia Bruyn; his great-grandchildren: Richard Sperl, Robert King, Marsie Brugman, Michael Diers, Olivia Bruyn, Matthew and Loran Bruyn, Michael Vente, Emily Bruyn, LaVerne and Nicholas Sessler, Zachary and Jacob Bruyn, David, Melissa and Michael Pondi, James and Brittnie Bruyn, Angela and Kyle Bruyn; his great-great-grandchildren: Jayson King, Elijah Brugman and Katelyn Sperl. The eldest son of the late Madeline and Edgar K. Conrad Jr. of Saddle River, N.J., he was predeceased by his brother, Robert. His third brother, Donald and his wife and family reside in Florida and his sister-in-law, Virginia DeTommaso and her husband, Fred are also in Florida. Ed attended the Citadel and Rutgers University. He and his late wife, Lorraine served in the armed forces. He was a branch manager of Olivetti-Underwood of Newburgh, N.Y. and a retired supervisor at West Point, N.Y. Ed is survived by six children and their families: Jeanne Conrad Beers and husband, Donald of Montgomery, N.Y.; Deborah Conrad Goff and her husband, John of Newburgh; Patricia McCabe and her husband, Vance of Spring Hill, Fla.; Margaret Hodges and her husband, CMSGT Robert of Hawaii; Richard Conrad and Christopher Conrad of Florida and several grandchildren. Cortese, Marie Teresa Marie Teresa Cortese, of Narrowsburg, a housewife and a longtime resident of the area, passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2005 in Port Orange, Fla. She was 94. The daughter of the late John and Elizabeth D'Agustino Monaco, she was born May 30, 1911 in New York City. She was married to the late Vincent Cortese Sr., who passed away September 23, 1998. She was a former member of St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church, Narrowsburg. A family statement reads, "She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed. She was a big part of our lives. She will live on in our hearts forever." She is survived by one daughter: Marguerite Schroeder of Brooklyn; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. Morrow, a retired postal worker at New Windsor Post Office, died Monday, November 28, 2005 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was 80. The son of the late Curtis and Mae McCauley Morrow, he was born August 26, 1925 in Washingtonville. Survivors include his wife Ann Shura Morrow at home; one brother, Kenneth J. Morrow of Washingtonville; one niece, Monica Morrow of Washingtonville; one nephew, Andrew Morrow and his wife Glenda of Montgomery. He was predeceased by one brother, Joseph Morrow. Raute, Frederick "Freddie Tree" Frederick Raute, known affectionately as "Freddie Tree" due to his work in the tree service, died Saturday, November 26, 2005 at his home in Wurtsboro. He was 79. The son of the late Fred Raute and Bertha Gesbrecht Raute, he was born April 27, 1926 in Hillsdale, N.J. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving in World War II with the clean up efforts at Pearl Harbor. He also wrote poetry and was widely known for his witty character. He is survived by two daughters: Denice Gates of Cochecton and Donna Wragge & her husband Robert Wragge Sr. of Newborn, Ga.; one sister: Caroline Kleister of Mount Hope; two grandchildren: Robert Wragge Jr. of Port Jervis and Larry R. McInturff of Clarksville, Va.; two great-grandchildren: Anthony Wragge and TJ McInturff. He was predeceased by his wife: Elaine Coles Raute; and a brother: Robert Raute. Schick, a truck driver for Marathon Enterprises, Fairlawn, N.J. and longtime area resident, died Sunday, November 27, 2005 at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, N.J. He was 57. The son of Edward and Ruth Douglas Schick, he was born February 26, 1948 in New York City. He was a Vietnam War veteran serving in the US Army. Published in the Times Herald-Record on 11/30/2005. Von Ignatius, Walter L. Mr. Walter L. Von Ignatius of Port Jervis died Monday, November 28, 2005 in Matamoras, Pa. He was 82. He was born November 3, 1923 in Mt. Vernon, N.Y., the son of the late Arthur and the late Catherine Walsh Von Ignatius. He was the widower of the late June Shirley Von Ignatius. They were married June 28, 1947 and were wed for 53 years prior to her death in January of 2001. He retired in 1989 from the Port Jervis Housing Authority, Port Jervis, where he served as Executive Director. Walter also proudly served his Country in the United States Navy during World War II on a PT Boat in Squadron 30. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Port Jervis where he served as a Church Elder. Walter was a 1963 Graduate of Orange County Community College. In the 1980 s he won the Federal Energy Efficiency Award for his exceptional work at the Port Jervis Housing Authority. This award was one of only two given out nationwide to local agencies at that time. A family statement read: "Walter loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was very proud of his service to his country in World War II and loved to attend his PT Boaters reunions that were held around the country yearly. He also proudly served his church for many, many years. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him." Surviving are son: Walter L. "Terry" Von Ignatius of Wilkes-Barre, Pa.; daughter: Sharon A. Henion of Acworth, Ga.; daughter-in-law: Nancy Von Ignatius of Matamoras, Pa.; son-in-law: Clement Henion of Acworth, Ga.; sister: Harriet Cotterill of Milford, Pa.; grandchildren: Karolyn Piatt & her husband Michael of Port Jervis, Walter T.
