Ralph M. Aiello, a retired editor for the Newburgh Evening News and award-winning photojournalist, died October 15, 2005 at home. He was 92. Son of the late Carlo and Bambino Vuono Aiello, he was born June 8, 1913 in Maybrook. He attended Maybrook schools and career seminars at Columbia University and the University of Massachusetts. He married the former Catherine Palozzo on August 31, 1941. She predeceased him in May of 2003. His journalism career began as a reporter for the Middletown Times Herald, and later with the Newburgh-Beacon News, where he served in various capacities, including reporter, city editor and editorial page editor. He was a member of the Photographic Society of America (PSA) and recipient of hundreds of awards in international photographic competitions. He received the honorary rank of Associate from PSA in 1975, and Fellow in 1985. He served as chairman of the PSA Photojournalism Division and later as chairman of the PSA Honors Committee. He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Newburgh for more than 50 years, where he served as Eucharistic Minister of the church and trustee of the parish. He served as volunteer at St. Luke's Hospital since 1980. He also served on the fund-raising campaign that led to the establishment of Mount Saint Mary College. Other community services included the Family Service Association and the Salvation Army. He was involved in the Boy Scout movement and served as Cubmaster for the scout unit at St. Mary's Church. He received the Ad Altare Dei Award at St. Patrick's Cathedral for service to Catholic youth groups. He received the Trustees Award from Mount Saint Mary College in 1988 for distinguished community service. He is survived by three children: Richard Aiello and his wife, Patricia Thorpe Aiello, of Ludlow, Vt., Cathy Cahill and her husband, Warren, of Newburgh, and Carl Aiello and his fianc‚e, Karen Jobson, of Newburgh; as well as three grandchildren: Brendan, Elizabeth and Michael Cahill; a sister Frances Gualtieri of Dania, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, October 19, 2005 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the White & Venuto Funeral Home, 188 North Plank Rd. (Rte 32), Newburgh. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, October 20 at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 180 South St., Newburgh, with the Rev. William Scafidi officiating. Denny, Helen Fordham Helen Fordham Denny, 89, of Columbia, S.C., died Saturday, October 15, 2005. Born in Watkins Glen, N.Y., August 31, 1916, she was the daughter of Chester and Julia Cleveland Fordham. She was a graduate of Watkins High School and was the business manager for many years for John Denny Chevrolet in Narrowsburg, N.Y. She enjoyed playing bridge and being with her family. Mrs. Denny is survived by her son, Morgan and daughter-in-law, Lyn of Columbia, S.C.; her sister, Elizabeth Smith of Watkins Glen; and three grandsons, David (Michelle) Denny, Timothy (Alison) Denny and Christopher Denny. She was predeceased by her husband, John; son, Bruce; three brothers, Fred, Elmo and Harry Fordham; and her sister, Florence von Reyn. The daughter of George Vavricka and Constance Coulson Vavricka, she was born September 2, 1946 in Guttenburg, N.J. She was a member of Master Gardeners of Orange County, a graduate of Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School and Ramapo College. She was also a 30-year practitioner of Transcendental Meditation. Linda was a woman who always looked towards the positive in life. She is survived by her husband Warren D. Furrevig of Washingtonville; parents, George and Constance Vavricka of Highland Lakes, N.J.; brother Joseph and wife Janie Vavricka of Tampa, Fla.; sister Beverly and husband Richard Weinstien of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and several nieces and nephews. Hession, Frances Frances Hession, a longtime area resident, died Saturday, October 15, 2005 at O.R.M.C. Horton Campus. She was 83 years old. The daughter of the late Edward and Adelaide Hart, she was born October 6, 1922 in New York City. Frances was active in her community in Greenwood Lake, N.Y., volunteering her time in the PTA, Meals on Wheels, and American Heart Association and other organizations. She was also a member of the American Legion's Women's Auxiliary. Frances was a loving mother and grandmother. She will be forever remembered and missed. She is survived by five loving children, Joseph P. Hession Jr. and his wife Mary, Elizabeth M. Hession, Valerie Veckman and her husband Mark, Deborah Hession and James Hession; eight beloved grandchildren; one niece; and two nephews. Frances was predeceased by her husband, Joseph P. Hession Sr. in 1993 and her sister, Marie Long. Keck, a truck driver and mechanic, died October 15, 2005 at home. He was 53. The son of Robert C. and Beverly Ann Emmons Keck, he was born April 12, 1952 in Las Vegas, Nev. Jerry was a Vietnam veteran and was a member of the "Wooley Bulleys." He is survived by his loving wife Darlene Rose Keck at home; his parents, Robert and Beverly Ann Keck; his children, Catherine Bohannon, Jerry C. Keck Jr., Jennifer Diehl, Robert C. Keck, Lynette Borland, Howard W. Snyder III and Samantha Mitzner; 15 grandchildren; one niece; and two great-nieces. Jerry is also survived by his faithful pets, Triton (aka "W.D.") and Pudpud. Donald W. Sanford, a longtime Newburgh resident and electrical engineer for Lockheed Martin Company, died Friday, October 14, 2005 at Sand Lake Hospital in Orlando, Fla. He was 56. Son of the late Robert and Mildred Daucher Sanford, he was born May 26, 1949 in Mineola, N.Y. He is survived by two sons, Todd Sanford of Satellite Beach, Fla., and Jarrod Sanford of New Windsor; one brother, Robert E. Sanford of Macungie, Pa.; one sister, Judy Ambrosetti of Newburgh; and several nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation. She was 80. The daughter of Harold L. Sitzer Sr. and J. Catherine Hill Sitzer, she was born January 22, 1925 in Goshen. She was a member of Goshen United Methodist Church, Goshen. Survivors include her brother-in-law, Fred W. Baldwin of Campbell Hall; sister-in-law Martha Sitzer of Concordia, Miss; niece, Kathy Sitzer of Crystal Lake, Ill.; nephew Thomas Sitzer of New Mexico; great-nieces, Ashley and Madison Sitzer.
