She was 50. The daughter of the late Chester F. VanDemark and Annette "Ann" Cook VanDemark, she was born on January 23, 1955 in Middletown, N.Y. Survivors include her mother, Ann VanDemark of Pine Bush, her husband, James H. Berchtold, and her daughters Stephani Ann and Tina Marie Berchtold of Pine Bush. She is also survived by her brother, Chester F. VanDemark of Pine Bush and her sisters, Beverly Racino of Sevierville, Tenn. and Barbara Jean Berchtold of Pine Bush and her grandson, Michael Jeff Berchtold of Pine Bush as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She attended the United Methodist Church in Pine Bush and volunteered her services for twelve years as a teacher's aide in the Pine Bush School System. Cremation will be private and held at the convenience of the family. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. Boyd, a Registered Nurse having retired after over 35 years with Dr. Lester Mermell in Middletown and a lifelong resident of Otisville, N.Y., died Monday, October 17, 2005 in Utica, N.Y. She was 94. The daughter of the late Jens and Marie Pederson, she was born on June 6, 1911 in Otisville, N.Y. Survivors include her son, James Boyd and his wife, Elmarie, of Rome, N.Y., her grandsons, Keith Boyd of Plattsburg, Richard Boyd of Rome, and Ronald Boyd, a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy currently stationed in San Diego, Calif., and her great-grandchildren, Zachary, Richard, Tyler, Christian, and Colin, all of Rome, and Tiffaney and Mallory, both of California. She was predeceased by her sisters, Ella Pederson and Agnes Terwilliger. Conlon, 82, of Binghamton, went to be with her Lore on Monday, October 17, 2005, after a brief illness. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas J. "Rosy" Conlon; and her son, Gerald Conlon; as well as Mr. Conlon's brothers, Richard, William and Joseph. Mrs. Conlon was also predeceased by her sisters, Rita Anderson and Betty Cronk; and brother, Francis Bentz. Margery is survived by her six children: Margaret and Charles Walczak of Hilton Head Island, S.C., Brian and Ann (O'Day) Conlon of Bayville, N.Y., Christine Conlon of St. Louis, Mo., Bernadette Doupona of Cornwall-On-Hudson, Thomas Jr. and Patricia Conlon of Archbald, Pa., and James and Laura Conlon of Binghamton, N.Y. She is survived by her beloved grandchildren: Stacey Locasio, Chuck Walczak, Lori Coogan, Sean Conlon, Robert and Maggie Stolzberg, Frank, Todd and Lauren Doupona, Thomas III, Abbey and Michael Conlon, Sarah, Matthew and Erin Conlon; and four great-grandchildren: Luke Locascio, Kyle and Brady Coogan, and Elizabeth Stolzberg; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Margery was born on March 8, 1923 in Binghamton, N.Y. and graduated from St. Paul High School. She was an active member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Binghamton, and a member of their parish counsel. Margery was a member of the Ladies of Charity. Mrs. Conlon was the City Clerk of Binghamton, N.Y. for 16 years. While in that position, she was active in the International Institute of Municipal Clerks, of which she held many esteemed posts, including President. She also sat on the Board of Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena. Both Mr. and Mrs. Conlon were lifelong residents of Binghamton's South Side and active members in St. John the Evangelist Church. Along with the love of their family and friends, both Marge and Tom shared the love of politics. Funeral services will be held at the J.A. Dembeck Sr., of Campbell Hall, a dairy farmer and lifetime resident of the area, died Saturday, October 15, 2005 at Columbus Hospital in Newark, N.J. He was 87. The son of the late Thomas and Anna Pryga Dembeck, he was born December 31, 1917 in Florida, N.Y. Joe was a veteran of the US Army, serving during World War II and wounded on Siapan in the South Pacific. A recipient of the Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with three bronze service stars, WW II Victory Medal, Honorable Service Lapel pin and Expert Badge with Rifle Bar. A past member of Eastern Milk Producers and member of St. John's the Evangelist Church in Goshen. On October 5, 1946, in Middletown, N.Y., he married his beloved Marie Murray. She predeceased him on October 16, 2001. Survivors include his children, Joseph J. Dembeck Jr. and wife Beverly of Goshen, Richard P. Dembeck of Bridgewater, Conn., Gerald W. Dembeck of Campbell Hall and Irene Drake of Campbell Hall; one brother, Anthony Dembek of Campbell Hall; six grandchildren, Kimberly Dembeck of Richmond, Va., Joseph J. DeRobertis, Sr., a retired inspector for the Maintenance Division at the United States Military Academy, West Point, a retired School Bus Driver, (fondly known as Mr. A "DA" by the students) and retired janitor for the Washingtonville School System, entered into rest on October 15, 2005 at Elant in Goshen. He was 85. Hugh was born February 12, 1920 in Newark, N.J. He was the son of the late Joseph and Angelina Rotunda DeRobertis. Hugh was a 50-year member of the Monell Fire Company in Washingtonville and a prior member and past Chief of the Salisbury Mills Fire Company. He was an avid bowler for over 30 years, a member of A.A.R.P. and the Orange County Volunteer Fireman Association. Hugh was in the U.S. Navy during World War II and served with the Fleet Air Wing 7. While serving he earned the Air Medal, a Gold Star and the Distinguished Flying Cross. Hugh was predeceased by his wife on June 21, 1983, the former Mary Ann Thomas DeRobertis from Terre Haute, Ind., whom he married on May 18, 1946 in Newark, N.J. Formerly of West Haverstraw, N.Y. Elizabeth J. Green, 71, passed away on Monday, October 17, 2005. She was born in Nyack, N.Y. on Nov. 8, 1933 to John and Mary Crusie Green. Elizabeth (Jane) graduated from Haverstraw High School. She retired from the Palisades Interstate Parkway Commission at Bear Mountain in 1995. She is survived by her brothers, John of Walden and Edward and wife Chickie of Rock Hill; five nephews, Edward and wife Colette of Rock Tavern, John of Walden, Shawn and wife Karen of Wobern, Mass., Kevin of Sloatsburg and Jeffery of Walden; one niece Dawn Bey and husband Chris of Tustin, Calif.; three great-nephews and three great-nieces. Charles Francis "Rock" Hardy of Spring Hill, Fla. and longtime former resident of Middletown, died Saturday, October 15, 2005 at his home in Spring Hill, Fla. He was 81. Son of the late Charles and Irene Muse Hardy, Sr. he was born August 2, 1924 in Middletown, N.Y. Prior to his enlistment in the U.S. Army, he worked at Classy Leather Goods, Kanan's Electrical Service and the O&W and Erie Railroads here in Middletown. In 1944, Charles joined the 8th Armored Division and served in both Germany and Belgium. In 1945, he was wounded in Belgium and received the Purple Heart following a medical discharge. Charles worked as a letter carrier for the Middletown office of the U.S. Postal service until his medical retirement in 1977. Rock was very civically active and generous with his time and talents. He was a 30-year member of the Middletown Lions Club; and received the Melvin Jones Award, their highest accolade. Rock was a 50-year member of the Middletown B.P.O.E. #1097; he served on many committees for the Elks and designed and received an award for the state scrapbook. He also served on the Salvation Army board from 1989-1993, and was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #151. Rock was a beloved member of the Middletown community and was active in many more community activities. He was a very artistic man with an eye and hand for designing. He built his own home in Miller Heights. In 1942, Rock discovered another of his talents when he helped design and build the letter carrier float. For the rest of his life, Rock would be known in the community as the float expert. In 1976, he co-chaired the Bicentennial Parade with Richard Foote, and designed and worked on many other floats over the years including the Middletown B.P.O.E., American Legion, the Middletown Lions Club, Middletown Savings Bank, The Onion Harvest Festival, Assemblywoman Mary M. McPhillips, as well as countless others. He also lent his decorative touch and time generously to high school reunions, charity balls and dances. He loved working wood, and like his many other talents, enjoyed sharing his wooden figures, cars, airplanes and animals with others. He also decorated his home for each of the holidays. Rock is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Patricia Vivian Merkley Van Fleet Hardy; three children: Barbara Hardy Olsen of Pembroke Pines, Fla., Lynda Hardy of Houston, Texas, and Deborah Hardy of Seattle, Wasg.; four stepchildren: Clark and Richard Van Fleet, both of Middletown, Eric Van Fleet of Pittsfield, Mass., and Anita LaMont of Middletown. Rock is also survived by one brother, Robert Hardy of Spring Hill, Fla.; three sisters: Ann Cutler of Spring Hill, Fla., Rita Conklin of Middletown, and Jean Williams of Wurtsboro; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Robert Patrick Francis Hickey of Ellenville, the pastor of The Church of St. Mary & St. Andrew in Ellenville, and Our Lady of Lourds Roman Catholic Church in Kerhonkson, and a 14-year resident, died October 17, 2005 at home. He was 64. The son of Robert Francis Hickey and Rose Stanek Hickey, he was born March 17, 1941 in Manhattan, N.Y. Msgr. Hickey was ordained at the Vatican on December 18, 1965, and elevated to Monsignor in 1995. He served as Assistant in Mt. Loretto, Staten Island, N.Y., Sacred Heart Church, Monroe, N.Y., Sacred Heart Church, Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., and Archbishop Stepinac High School, New York. Msgr. Hickey, along with Paul Mandry, founded Antioch Youth Group in the late 1980's. Monsignor is survived by his sister, Rosemarie Farrell; brother-in-law, John; nephews, John Farrell and Robert Farrell; nieces, Jennifer Washington and Pamela Farrell; one aunt, Carol Stanek; cousins, Michael Stanek and Lynn Calby; and five great-nieces and nephews. Maserjian, Helen Helen Maserjian, age 92, passed away peacefully October 6, 2005 in Madison, Wis. Helen was born March 25, 1913, in Aintab, Turkey to John and Seda (Khajadourian) Parseghian. She married Dikran Maserjian in 1930 and moved to Newburgh where she helped him in his photography studio and raised their three children. She was an avid gardener and excellent seamstress and tailor. In 1979, she retired to Luquillo, Puerto Rico where she realized her lifelong dream to live near the ocean and where she made many wonderful friends. In 1997 she moved to Madison, Wis. Helen's greatest joy was her family and many close friends. She will forever be remembered for her sincere warmth, ever-bright smile and sincere compassion for others. Helen is survived by her children, Diane Truncali of Marlboro, N.Y., Richard (Lucy) Maserjian of Newburgh and Lorraine (Richard) Snyder of Madison, Wis; five grandchildren: Tamar and Ani Maserjian, Paul Truncali of N.Y., Joel Snyder of Shell Beach, Calif., Margo Snyder of Seattle, Wash.; and many close relations and friends in New York, Wisconsin and Luquillo. He was a retired transporter for the Middletown Psychiatric Center in Middletown and, following retirement, was a school crossing guard for the Middletown Police Department. Patricia Porter, 59, of Amarillo, Texas, formerly of Beacon, N.Y., died Tuesday, September 27, 2005. Patricia, born May 23, 1946 in Beacon, N.Y., lived in Amarillo for six years. She worked for Anderson Merchandisers. Survivors include her mother, Jeanette Cinnirella of Belen, N.M.; two sons, Eric Lanzo and his wife, Angela, and Robert Lanzo, both of Amarillo, Texas; a daughter, Patricia Lanzo of Los Lunas, N.M.; two grandchildren, Courtney Lanzo and Tyler Lanzo; three sisters: Sandra Hulsey of Newburgh, Judy Veiga of Cornwall, and Michelle Porter of New Mexico; one brother, William Porter of New Mexico; and nieces and nephews. Poveromo, of Bloomingburg, a retired truck driver for the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, died Sunday, October 16, 2005 at the Hudson Valley Hospital in Peekskill. He was 85. The son of the late Giuseppe Joseph Poveromo and Domenica Maggie Poggio Poveromo, he was born August 30, 1920 in the Bronx. Vinny was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army where he received the American Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He later returned to the United States on the ship U.S.S. General Harry Taylor which sailed from Marseille, France on September 3, 1945, and went on to be honorably discharged from the Army. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #161, Port Jervis and the Disabled American Veterans. He was the widow of Inez Mammarrello Poveromo, and in addition to his wife, was predeceased by a son, Michael. He is survived by many area friends. There will be no visitation. Graveside services and burial with military honors will be held on Friday, October 21 at 2 p.m. at the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery, Sunset Lake Road in Liberty. The daughter of the late Rudolph Valentino and Shirley Marie Anderson Reynolds, Sr., she was born on March 14, 1963 in Newburgh, N.Y. A family statement read: "Stephanie was very much loved and will be very much missed." Survivors include her step-mother, Anne Reynolds of Newburgh, her brothers Rudolph V. She was 84. The daughter of the late James Burchfield and Pleasant Davis Burchfield, she was born August 14, 1921 in Athens, Ohio. She was a former registered nurse at Tuxedo Memorial Hospital in Tuxedo and a former volunteer worker at Arden Hill Hospital in Goshen. Survivors include her husband Joseph A. Santiago of Monroe; four sons, Michael Santiago of Buchanan, Va., Anthony Santiago of the Bronx, Mark Santiago of Briarcliff Manor, Philip Santiago of Monroe; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Shaver, a lifetime resident of Livingston Manor and proprietor of R.E. Shaver, Inc., died Monday, October 17, 2005 at Catskill Regional Medical Center. He was 85. The son of Frances and Ralph Smith Shaver, he was born June 6, 1920 in Livingston Manor, N.Y. He was the widower of Alberta K. Shaver. Victor served his country during World War II in the United States Navy and was also a Navy Chief. He was the president of R.E. Shaver, Inc. from 1960-2000; he served on the board of directors of the Mayflower Warehousemen's Association from 1972-1974; he was a 55-year member of the Livingston Manor Masonic Lodge #791, and was also Master in 1969; he was a charter member of the Livingston Manor Rotary Club for 50 years and president from 1974-1975; he was an elder at the Livingston Manor Presbyterian Church; and a past secretary and current treasurer of Orchard Street Cemetery in Livingston Manor. He is survived by one son, Kent A. Shaver at home; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother, Ralph Edison Shaver. A Masonic Service will be held at 11 a.m., followed by a funeral service on Saturday, October 22, 2005 at the Herbert C. Bryant Funeral Home, 29 Pearl St., Livingston Manor, N.Y. The Rev.
