The daughter of the late Albert and Elizabeth Haag, she was born on July 21, 1939 in Albany, N.Y. Mr. Barry was a retired New York City Police Officer. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church, Milford, Pa., a World War II Marine Veteran and a member of Tilgman-Angle-Smith American Legion Post #851, Dingman's Ferry, Pa. and Mt. Laurel V.F.W. Post #8612, Milford, Pa. He was also retired from the Pike County Area Agency on Aging. The son of Morris and Ellen (Broderick) Barry, he was born in Manhattan, N.Y. on January 16, 1921. He was the widower of Lillian M. (Gallagher) Barry who predeceased him in 2002. Survivors include one son, John Barry and his wife, Claudia of Lords Valley, Pa., two daughters, Regina M. Saunders and her husband Brian of Yonkers, N.Y. and Eileen Naturale and her husband John of Dingman's Ferry, Pa., one sister, Teresa Farrell of Bronx, N.Y., his daughter-in-law Annemarie Barry of Bronx, N.Y., and eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Berland, a retired travel agent for Ellenville Travel for 35 years, Ellenville and lifelong area resident, died Tuesday, September 13, 2005 at her home. She was 80. The daughter of the late Russell Crooks and Rosanna Gibson Crooks, she was born December 3, 1924 in Pineville, Kent. She was the widow of Edward Daniel Berland. She was a member of the Hope Evangelical Church and choir member, in Matamoras, Pa. She was a professional singer and choir member with the Master Works Chorus, NYC, NY and choir member of many churches through her travels. Lois traveled extensively for many years throughout the world. She was a tremendous help to her daughter Alice and great-granddaughter Saira; Lois was instrumental in enabling her great-granddaughter to make her residence at home in Ellenville rather than to be hospitalized. She was also an avid animal lover and a volunteer at Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis. Survivors include her three daughters, Alice Calonga of Ellenville, Jeanne Moore of Matamoras, Pa., Beverly Haefner and husband Rex of Whitaker, Pa.; eight grandchildren, Robert Kennedy of Clark Summit, Pa., Paula Hopping of Troy, N.Y., Leslieanne Hopping and Kelley Aragon both of Ellenville, N.Y., Kim Schoch of Barryville, N.Y., Keith Drennen of Seminole, Fla., Timothy Bird of Atlanta, Ga. and Heather Bird; 12 great-grandchildren; and her very special friend, Irma Aschoff of Matamoras, Pa. Dodd, Harold And Margaret Margaret Dodd passed away August 14, 2005 at Vancouver, Wash. Harold J. Dodd passed away August 17, 2005 in Woodland, Wash. They lived in La Center, Wash. and were previous residents of Sussex, N.J. for many years. Margaret worked part time while raising their daughter. Harold worked for 13 years on the Susquehanna and Erie Lackawanna Railroads. He also worked for the New Jersey Transportation Department for 20 years. They are survived by their daughter, Elizabeth Wellman of Petaluma, Calif. Margaret is also survived by her sister, Shirley DeGroat of Port Jervis, N.Y. and her brother Clark DeGroat of Ocala, Fla. Elston of Bloomingburg, a retired senior employee of Sears & Roebuck for over 30 years at North Street and Orange Plaza, where she was the catalogue sales manager for many years, passed away into the saving arms of her Lord Jesus Christ on September 11, 2005. She was 91 years of age. The daughter of the late Stanley B. and Lena Hall Clinton, she was born September 16, 1913 in Middletown, N.Y. She was predeceased by her brothers, Stanley Clinton, Abraham James Clinton; and her husbands, Newton Eager and Charles Elston. Survivors include her sisters, Mildred Kopp of Adamstown, Md., and Betty Drennan and her companion, George Connor, of Middletown; and her brother, DeWitt Clinton and his wife, June Force Clinton, of Middletown. Fitch, Charles Burton Charles Burton Fitch, a longtime resident of Liberty, died Friday September 9, 2005 at Catskill Regional Medical Center, Harris. He was 61. Charles was born in White Plains on January 2, 1944 to the late Allen and Lucy Jordan Fitch. He was married early in life to the late Joyce A. M. Fitch and then to the late Shirley V. Fitch. He was a self-employed plumber in Liberty. He attended the Liberty Baptist Church and was an honorary member of the NYS Sheriff's Association Institute. He is survived by 2 stepsons Rodney Robinson and wife Mary of Beaufort, SC and Harold Robinson and wife Danielle of Chicago, IL; 1 stepdaughter Crystal Robinson of Bronx; and 2 daughters Diane Fitch Becton and husband William of Saline, MI and Joyce Fitch of Ypsilanti, MI. Mary Fries of Natick, Mass., formerly of the Town of Bethel, died Saturday, August 20, 2005 at Mary Ann Morse Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a period of declining health. She was 88. She was born in Ada, Okla. on August 24, 1916 to the late Thomas Denton and Addie Hargus Bingham. She was the widow of the late Martin W. Fries. She graduated from East Central State College in July 1939 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business/Speech. In August 1939, she took a position as registrar at Ada Junior High School. During World War II, she worked in Washington, D.C. for Secretary of War Henry L. Stimpson and moved into the Pentagon when it opened. She married Martin and moved to Swan Lake, where she was a member of the Hurd/Kauneonga Methodist Church and held various positions there. She and her husband were active in the 4-H Club. Later she taught English subjects for fourth and fifth graders at Hebrew Day School of Sullivan/Ulster Counties. Mrs. Fries moved to Natick after her husband died and traveled often to visit family and friends. She was active in the resident organization of Sherwood Village in Natick and in Circle 4 of the Baptist Church of Natick. She was a journal writer and a reader, and until recently, worked two daily crossword puzzles and kept up with current events. She leaves a daughter, Margaret "Peggy" Wihtol and husband, Peter, of Natick, Mass.; a son, William F. Fries and wife, Deborah, of Batavia; her brother-in-law, Norvin F. Fries and wife, Gertrude, of Livingston Manor; her daughter-in-law, Sarah Fries of Trenton, Fla.; her grandchildren: Kim F. Leach and husband, Carl, of Los Angeles, Calif., Sandra F. Menkhaus of Chicago, Ill., Martin J. Fries of Gainesville, Fla., Rebecca J. Gracey, a glass salesman, died Tuesday, September 13, 2005 at home. He was 73. The son of James Gracey and Katherine Merten Gracey, he was born Monday, November 9, 1931 in North Bergen, N.J. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Hamptonburgh and an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Isola, Frieda Frieda "Fritz" Isola, a lifetime resident of Middletown, died Tuesday, September 13, 2005 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was 72. The daughter of the late Pasquale and Anna Schipon Arceri, she was born September 18, 1932 in Middletown. Frieda married Thomas Isola in 1952 at St. Joseph's R.C. Church. Frieda was a parishioner of St. Joseph's R.C. Church and a past member of the First Ward Women's Club. She worked as an assistant teacher for Mechanicstown Schools and later as a receptionist for the Middletown School Board. A family statement reads: "Her kindness and generosity was felt by everyone she touched. She was not just our mother, she was all of our best friend. She loved her children and grandchildren, but took special joy in her great-grandchildren. Her dedication to the N.Y. Mets will never be forgotten." She is survived by one son, Thomas Isola of Boca Raton, Fla.; two daughters, Fran Ewing and her husband, Richard, of Boynton Beach, Fla., and Patricia Isola of Lake Worth, Fla.; one brother, Anthony; one sister, Mary Arceri; and one aunt, Angelina Scali, all of Middletown. Leo, 81, died peacefully at his home on July 5, 2005. He was born September 19, 1923 in Newburgh to the late Pasquale and Francesca Maria. Mr. Leo was a veteran of World War II, having served as an artilleryman with the U.S. Army in the Pacific. He was the Commissioner of Parks and Recreation for the City of Newburgh, and was a retired civilian employee of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Parish in Newburgh, and Our Lady of the Lakes Church in Lakeport, N.H., and was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mr. Leo was a proficient baseball and softball umpire, and basketball referee. He was an executive officer and past president of Board 180, International Athletic Association of Basketball Officials (I.A.A.B.O.); past president of the Orange County Baseball Umpires Association (O.C.B.U.A.); and a member of the following associations: the College Basketball Officials (C.B.O.A.), Amateur Softball (A.S.A.), New York State Girls Softball Umpires, and the New York State Girls Basketball Officials. He was also an inductee of the Fast Pitch Softball Hall of Fame in Newburgh. Vincent enjoyed boxing, baseball, and the horses. Vincent is survived by his wife of 51 years, Marie A. (Cassanite); his daughters, Francesca M. Mudge and her husband, William, of Laconia, N.H., and Rozanna Leo-Fields and her husband, Gregory, of Los Angeles, Calif.; a brother, Carl, of Goshen; two sisters, Gloria Pagentine of Newburgh, and Lucille Blair of Boca Raton, Fla.; three grandchildren: Jordan and Alyson Tankard, and Caelan Leo-Fields; seven nieces and eight nephews. The son of the late Richard and Florence Trandle O'Neill, he was born December 31, 1919 in Warwick. Mr. O'Neill was the former Postmaster of Warwick, and was a member of the Postmasters Association. He was a member of St. Stephens RC Church in Warwick. An Army veteran of WWII having served with the Anti Tank company, 414th Regiment, 104th Infantry Timberwolf Division, he later became a member of the Warwick VFW Post 4662 and was past Treasurer of the American Legion Post 214. Mr. O' Neill was one of the first commissioners of the Warwick Fire District, was a member since 1938 and past president and Treasurer of the Excelsior Hose Company. He also was the former Chairman and Treasurer of the Warwick Little League and Treasurer of Boy Scout Troop 45 as well as the Cub Scouts. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Louise Kirkpatrick O'Neill; three sons Dennis and his wife Cherrie of Tucson, AZ, John and his wife Cindy and Michael O' Neill all of Warwick; and one daughter Judy and her husband Vince Romanczyk of Warwick. He is also survived by four grandchildren Amy and Chris O' Neill and Paul and Brian Romanczyk. Also surviving are five nephews, and many friends. He was predeceased by his three sisters Helen Brady, Rita Edsall and Kathryn Sowa. She was 74. The daughter of the late Kenneth S. and Dorotha B. Locke Johnson, she was born January 27, 1931 in Ogdensburg, N.Y. Survivors include her husband, Gilbert Pierre, at home; a stepson, Gilbert Pierre and wife, Patty; two brothers, Peter Johnson and wife, Jean, of Grand Gorge, N.Y., and Gene Johnson and wife, Karleen, of St. Regis Falls, N.Y.; 11 nieces and nephews; 15 great-nieces and nephews; and four great-great-nephews. "Abe" Springstead, a 36-year area resident, formerly of Rockland County, and retired Union Laborer with Local 754 in Blauvelt, N.Y., died Monday, September 12, 2005 at his home in Middletown, N.Y. He was 76. Son of Charles Springstead and Lillian Schneider, he was born August 20, 1929 in Haverstraw, N.Y. Mr. Springstead served with the U.S. Navy from 1950 to 1954. He was a former volunteer fireman with the Central Nyack and Haverstraw Fire Departments. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing and woodworking. He is survived by six daughters: Joyce Williams and her husband, William, of Liberty, Patricia Shaw of Otisville, Debra Springstead and her companion, Daniel Beemer, of Port Jervis, Deborah Conklin of Otisville, Billie Jean Quimby and her husband, Sam, of Otisville, and Lillian Hager and her husband, John, of Middletown; two sons, William Conklin of Mt. Hope, and Dirck Conklin of Middletown; one sister, Lucille Rant and her husband, George, of New City, N.Y.; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one son, Dale R. Conklin; three brothers: William, Kermit and Ira Springstead; and two sisters, Margaret Smith and Helen Barnett. (Cannon) Wright of Livingston Manor, passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2005 at home. She was 75. The daughter of Arnold and Frances Daniels Cannon, she was born November 10, 1929 in Binghamton, N.Y. Dorla was the widow of Robert "Bob" Wright. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Livingston Manor Fire Department, as well as a 50-year member of the OES #298. Dorla joined the OES #298 on May 18, 1954 and held several offices during her 50-year membership. She was Worthy Matron in 1965 and 1979, and served as Secretary from 1980 to 2004. In March of 2005, Dorla was honored for her dedicated service of 24 years as secretary. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Herzog and her husband, Wally, of Liberty, and Diana Allen of Gardiner; one son, Walter C. Molotch, Jr. and his wife, Lori, of Arizona; three stepsons: James Wright and his wife, Chin, of Puyallop, Wash., Gary Wright of Hempstead, N.C., and Christopher Wright and his wife, Karen, of Ridgewood, N.J.; two stepdaughters, Barbara-Jo Valenti of Alabama, and Linda Wright of Livingston Manor; one daughter-in-law, JoAnn Wright of Livingston Manor; one sister, Sally Carl and her husband, Roger, of Endwell, N.Y.; two brothers, Gary Cannon and his wife, Audrey, of Clarksville, Fla., and Larry Cannon and his wife, Barbara, of Memphis, Tenn.; 16 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
