She was 61, born on September 4, 1944 in Newburgh, N.Y. to the late Robert "Ricky" and Mary (Rodgers) Richardson. Merrily was the owner of American Equities, a mortgage company in Newburgh. She was the former owner of The Store in Salisbury Mills; the past President and Treasurer of the Salisbury Mills Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary; Treasurer of the Bi-Centennial Committee of the Hamlet of Salisbury Mills; Team Mother for Washingtonville Little League and an original member of F.I.S.H. of Washingtonville. Boyce, Reverend Franklyn James Reverend Franklyn James Boyce, Pastor of Jesus Christ's Triumphant Church, passed peacefully Saturday, September 24, 2005. He was 89. He was born July 3, 1917 in in Burgaw, N.C. to Benjaim and Lillian Larkin Boyce. He served in the Navy during World War II. As a father figure to the entire community, he reached out with a loving, warm spirit, coupled with the strength of Joshua. His outstanding devotion to the Jesus Christ Triumphant ministry was phenomenal, empowering the youth: inspiring them to become all they were created to be, fulfilling their purpose for being. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife; his brother; two daughters; two sons; four grandsons; 10 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews, countless loved ones and friends. The daughter of John Coyne and Catherine Geraghty Coyne, she was born January 9, 1914 in New York, N.Y. She was the widow of Joseph Brooks. A family statement reads, "Faith and family were her life." DelVillano, Jack A. Jack A. DelVillano, of Wallkill, a retired iron worker, entered into rest on Sunday, September 25, 2005 at Castle Point Veterans Hospital. He was 71. Son of the late Angelo and Margaret Manfredi DelVillano, he was born March 31, 1934 in Beacon. He was married to Mary DelVillano, who predeceased him in 1974. Jack proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War, where he received the National Defense Service Medal and the Navy Occupation Service Medal. He was a member of the Iron Workers Union and the American Legion. He is survived by sisters, Marcella, whom he resided with, Mary, Angela, Charlene, and Linda; and several nieces and nephews. Dragotta of Walden, passed away on Monday, September 26, 2005 at Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla. She was 63. Daughter of the late John Baldrich and Rosalie Christina Baldrich-Trentacoste, she was born January 13 1942 in New York City. She married Richard H. Dragotta on May 6, 1972, who survives at home. A family statement reads: "Dolores was a caring and beautiful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was loved by all who knew her and will be missed more than words can say." Dolores was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh. She was president of the family-owned Greenshire Painting in Walden. "Lanny" Orlando "Lanny" J. Fero, Jr., of Lutz and Terra Vista in Citrus Hills, Fla., died September 26, 2005 in Inverness, Fla. He was 62. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. to Orlando J. Fero, Sr., and Julia (Murran), Orlando moved from Monticello, N.Y. to Dunnellon in 1961, then to Beverly Hills, Fla. in 1975 and to their combined residence in Lutz and Terra Vista in Citrus Hills, Fla. He was of the Catholic faith. Orlando J. "Lanny Fero joined the family insurance business in Dunnellon, Fla. in 1961. In 1981, the business was renamed Fero & Sons Insurance and expanded in 1986 with a location in Beverly Hills, Fla. He also founded Fero Funeral Home in Beverly Hills, Fla. in 1973 and another location in Dunnellon in 1991. He was a licensed funeral director and operated both locations until 1997. Her served in the U.S. Army as a Military Policeman, was a member of Inverness Elks Lodge #2522, and the Dunnellon Lion's Club. He enjoyed fine dining and traveling in the U.S. and internationally. He cherished being with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who have known him. Survivors include his wife, Karen D. Godfrey of Bloomingburg, a retired schoolteacher and longtime resident of the area, went to be home with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, September 27, 2005 after a short illness. She was 93. The daughter of the late Charles Ferris and Nellie Breen Ferris, she was born May 23, 1912 in Lake Placid. She was the widow of V. Kenneth Godfrey who predeceased her on October 29, 1990. Grace was a schoolteacher for 25 years at the Bloomingburg Union Free School, which later became the Pine Bush Central School District. She was a member of the Church of Christ at Middletown; Retired Teacher's Assoc.; Ladies Auxiliary of the Bloomingburg Fire Dept.; Bloomingburg Grange; a former member of the Bloomingburg Methodist Church; and a former village clerk for the Village of Bloomingburg. She is survived by her two twin daughters, Jane A. Godfrey and Ruth E. Puckhaber, both of Bloomingburg; several nieces & nephews; and many loving friends. Lavell, M.D., 77, of Walton, N.Y., passed away Sunday evening at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown, N.Y., after a sudden illness. Dr. Lavell was born in New York City on June 2, 1928, the son of the late Thomas and Kathleen MacDonald Lavell Sr. Dr. Lavell married Jeanne Hoeko on April 23, 1988 in Walton. He served his country as a lieutenant in the Navy as a flight surgeon from 1954-57. Dr. Lavell was a graduate of Cornell University with a B.A.; New York University Medical School with an M.D.; and Russell Sage Graduate School with an M.S. in Public Administration. He interned at St. Vincent's Hospital, N.Y.C.; U.S. Navy School of Aviation Medicine; residency in Family Practice at the University of Colorado; and a resident of General Surgery at the University of Vermont. He was licensed as a medical doctor in New York State; a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners; a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery; and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Lavell was presently a field representative for the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations; a board of trustees member of O'Conner Hospital, Delhi; American Cancer Society, Eastern Division; and past president of the New York State Division; past president of Health Systems Agency of Northeast New York; a past member of the Bassett Healthcare Domestic Violence Research Project; past Medical Director of Margaretville Hospital, Delaware Valley Hospital, and Delaware County Medical Services. He was former interim President and CEO of Delaware Valley Hospital; consultant, New York State Department of Health Office of Professional Medical Conduct; and a member of the Medical Advisory Committee of the Planned Parenthood of Delaware and Otsego Counties. He was a member of the American College of Surgeons; the Medical Society of the State of New York; and the Society of U.S. Naval Flight Surgeons. Dr. Lavell was also a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery, State University of New York Upstate Health Science Center, and an Adjunct Faculty, Health Administration, Russell Sage Graduate School. Dr. Lavell loved to teach and mentor students. He also loved to provide medical care to indigent people in Malawi, Central Africa, and at U.S.P.H.S. Indian Service Hospitals, serving the Navaho and Sioux-Arapaho peoples. He was once described by one of his colleagues as an "incredible healer." He is survived by his wife, Jeanne Lavell; three sons: Thomas E. Lavell III of Frankfurt, Germany, Christopher Lavell and his wife, Cindy of Goshen, and Patrick Lavell and his wife, Sarah, of Rochester; his daughter, Melissa Whipple and children of Middletown; two step-children, Brooke Taber of Burlington, Vt., and Tye Taber of Salt Lake City, Utah; seven grandchildren: Michael, Emily, Justin Thomas, Alex, Margot, and Camille; three cousins: Jim Murphy of Nevada, Bill Murphy of Idaho, and Melissa Murphy of Montana. MacFarlane, Robert Robert MacFarlane of Monroe, formerly of Staten Island, passed away on Monday, September 26, 2005 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Goshen, N.Y., surrounded by his loving family. He was 73. Robert was born in Scotland on November 11, 1931, son of the late Robert C. MacFarlane and Sarah Barr MacFarlane. Robert came to the United States in 1947 and proudly served his new country in the U.S. Army. He was a carpenter for many years and then entered New York State service as a Safety Inspector for the Department of Labor. He became Program Manager and was instrumental in setting up a testing program to qualify N.Y.S. Crane Operators. He was on the licensing board for operators and also was responsible for compressed air tunnels and amusement park safety. Robert retired in 1988 and he and his wife, Gail, moved to Monroe in 1995. He was a wonderful husband, father, and unceasingly devoted grandfather, and will be greatly missed. Robert was a member of Diamond Thistle Lodge; American Legion Post #316, Staten Island; and Sacred Heart Church in Monroe. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Gail; daughter, Donna and husband, Robert Minicucci; and daughter, Susan and husband, Ralph D'Apuzzo. He also leaves behind five precious grandchildren: Kristin, Keri, Matthew, Nicholas, and Ryan; and two sisters, Roseann Johnson of Binghamton, and Nan Brooke of Poughkeepsie; along with many nieces and nephews. John was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Church, New Windsor, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. He was a member of the Catholic War Veterans, New Windsor Senior Citizens, and a past committee member of the New Windsor Democratic Committee. He signed with the New York Yankees on September 25, 1941, but gave up his baseball career to serve his country in the U.S. Army during WW II, and earned the Good Conduct Medal and the American Theatre Campaign Ribbon. He was born July 1, 1940 in Manhattan. Mr. Norden, upon the death of his father, left his Engineering Studies at Columbia University to assume the operation of Fraunces Tavern, N.Y.C., the oldest existing Tavern in America, which Bob continued to run for 41 years. He was the first civilian to receive the Coast Guard's "Distinguished Service Award" for his training of Coast Guard Food Personnel. In 1984 he was named Restaurateur of the Year by the Restaurant League of NY. In 1987 he purchased and restored the "Old '76 House" restaurant in Tappan, N.Y. which his son now owns and operates. His public service included participation in the Culinary Institute Internship Program, a Trustee of the Kew Forest School, Treasurer of the Forest Hill Taxpayer Assoc., Director of the Forest Hill Gardners Corp., Director and past president of the N.Y.C. Upon his retirement to Warwick in 1999, he told his wife that his proudest accomplishment was becoming a volunteer fire fighter with the Raymond Hose Co. of the Warwick Fire Department and serving as a Lt. with the Warwick Fire Police. He is survived by his wife, Ali Dabulis Norden, daughter Jacqueline Krueger, son Robert C. Norden, grandchildren, Tierney, Charlotte, Malcolm, Liam, and Sophia, sister Veronika Hughes, cousin Jule Tartaglia, sisters-in-law Joan Amato and Dorothy Bock, six nieces and two nephews. "Frank" Francis J. "Frank" Schumaci, a lifelong area resident, died Sunday, September 25, 2005 after a short illness at O.R.M.C., Horton Campus, Middletown. He was 76. The son of John Schumaci and Natalie Wanczyk, he was born November 14, 1928 in Middletown. He was a corrections officer with the New Hampton Training School, the Otisville Training School for Boys and the Annex NYS Training School for Boys. Frank was also a police officer, building inspector and animal control officer with the town of Wallkill. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Middletown and proudly served his country, as a Sergeant, in Korea with the 40th Infantry Division. Frank was also a past member and former chief of the Mechanicstown Fire Dept., former member of the Washington Heights Fire Dept., and member of Middletown Elks Lodge No. 1097. A family statement reads, "Frank was a kind and caring man, always ready to help someone."
