Surrogate of our said County the last will and testament of Jacob Pitts late of the town of Crawford in said county deceased ( a why whereof is hereunto annexed) was proved & is now approved and allowed of by us & the said deceased having whilst he lived & at the time of his death goods, chattles or credits, within this state by means whereof the proving and registering of the said will & the granting Administration of all & singular the said goods, chattles & credits & also the auditing, allowing & final discharging the account thereof doth belong to us; the Administration of all & singular the said chattles & credits of the said deceased & any way concerning his will is granted unto Henry Pitts & George Pitts the executors in the said will named they being first duly sworn well and faithfully to administer the same & to make & exhibit a true and perfect Inventory of all & singular the said goods chattles & credits and also to render a just & true account thereof when thereunto required In testimony whereof we have caused the seal of Office of our said Surrogate to be hereunto affixed. Witness Wheeler Case Esq Surrogate of the said County at Goshen the twenty fourth day of July in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred & twenty-six & of our Independence the Fifty first. Wheeler Case Surrogate I Jacob Pitts of Crawford in the County of Orange of sound mind & disposing memory, blessed be the Almighty God for the same, do make this my last will & testament in manner & form as follows Item. I give & bequeath to my loving wife Sarah Pitts the one third of my real estate during her life time. Further if my executors think it insufficient to support her they may retain what they think sufficient from the rest of the heirs and apply it for her support during her life time. Item. I do further direct my executors when they think it proper to dispose of my real estate & divide the amount of money arising from the same as follows: Item. I do give & bequeath the one equal eleventh part to my sons Henry, George, Joseph, Jacob & John & also to my daughters the one equal eleventh part to Nancy, Mary, Sally, Elizabeth & Susanna & also the one eleventh part to Chauncy Warren Smith son of my daughter Catharine, deceased. And I do further direct my executors to give to my daughter Nancy one cow or the value of it & also my daughter Sally one cow or the value of it & her bed & bedding & also Elizabeth & Susanna each one cow or the value of it & each of them their bed & bedding & also to my wife Sarah one cow & four sheep, one beauro, one table, six chairs & other necessary things for her to keep house with & two beds & bedding & sufficient provision for one year & likewise my son John to be put to a trade & when he comes of age the value of a common colt & my executors to pay my lawful debts out of my personal property. Item. I hereby nominate & appoint my sons Henry Pitts & George Pitts to be the executors of this my last will & testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this first day of July 1826. Crane Jacob Pitts **SS** Samuel Pitts Orange County Be it remembered that on the twenty fourth day of July in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred & twenty six personally appeared before me Wheeler Case Esq Surrogate of the said County - Jacob Kump who being duly sworn did depose & say that he was present & did see Jacob Pitts deceased sign & seal the written instrument then shown unto him and of which the preceding is a true copy purporting to be the last will & testament of the said deceased & did hear him publish & declare the same as & for his last will & testament & that at the time of the execution thereof he the said deceased was of a sound disposing mind & memory to the best of his the deponents knowledge & belief & that the deponent together with Cavaler J. Crane & Samuel Pitts subscribed their names thereto as witnesses in the presence of the testator & in the presence of each other. The preceding is a true copy of the original will of Jacob Pitts deceased of the certificate of the proof thereof & the letters testimony thereon.
