Know Ye that at Goshen in the County of Orange on the twenty fourth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and three before James Everett Esq. Surrogate of our said County the last will and testament of Henry Savage deceased (a copy whereof hereunto annexed) was proved and is now approved and allowed of by us and the said deceased having whilst he lived and at the time of his death goods, chattels or credits within this State by means whereof the proving and registering the said will and the granting administration of all and singular the said goods chattels and credits and also the auditing allowing and final discharging the account whereof doth belong unto us; the administration of all and singular the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased and any way concerning his will is granted unto James Savage and John Savage two of the Executors in the said will named they being first duly sworn well and faithfully to administer the same and to make and exhibit a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the said goods chattels and credits and also to render a just and true account thereof when thereunto required. In Testimony whereof we have caused the seal of office of our said Surrogate to be hereunto affixed Witness James Everett Esquire Surrogate of the said County at Goshen the second day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred three and of our Independence the twenty seventh. In the name of God Amen I Henry Savage being in perfect health of body but or and of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will and testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my sole into the hand of the almighty God that gave it and my body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in descent Christian burial at the definition of my executors nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and us touching once worldly state wherewith it has pleased God to bless me in this life I give demise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form. First I give and devise to my Eldest son James Savage his heirs or assigns all that land and tenements formerly belonging Jonas Hulls and James Owrs situated lying in New shongunk reserving the timber that is on ten Acres of the south end of the farm belong to James Owrs for the farms at the wallkill to hold him the said James Savage his heirs and assigns forever also I give and devise to my two younger sons John Savage and Charles Savage their heirs and assigns all my lands and tenements formerly belonging to John Gilgreast to hold to them the said John Savage and Charles Savage their heirs and assigns forever Beginning and taking all the land on the south end of the farm on this side of the creek then on other side of creek and beginning and running up along the south west side of the farm to the North west end to make one hundred Acres and the said lands to be equally divided between them. Then the land that remains on the said farm, I give and devise to John Savage, Henry Moses and Charles and equally to be divided between them or their heirs and assigns forever and the said John Savage to have the whole prerogative of the said place till Charles comes of age to have what he can make after my demise. Further I give and devise all my land and tenements that I now live on unto my other two sons Henry Savage and Moses Savage or to their heirs or assigns and equally to be divided between them to hold to them the said Henry Savage and Moses Savage their heirs or assigns forever. I also give and bequeath to my daughter Jane Savage the sum of ten pounds a piece to be paid from each of the Legatees that is before mentioned to be paid within one year and six months after my decease and lastly all the rest residue and remainder of my personal estate goods and chattels of what kind and nature soever I give and bequeath the same to my sons and daughter James, John, Jane, Henry, Moses and Charles and equally to be divided between them whom I hereby appoint to be sole executive of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former will by me made. I witness whereof I have sworn to with my hand and seal this twenty eighth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety six Signed Sealed and published and declared by the above named Henry Savage to be his last will and testament in the presence of us who have here unto subscribed our names as witness in the presence of the Testator. Orange County is Be it Remembered that on the twenty fourth day of February one thousand eight hundred and three personally appeared before me, James Everett Surrogate of the County of Orange, Robert Willson of the Town of Wallkill in said County and being duly sworn upon his oath saith that he did see Henry Savage deceased sign and seal the written instrument then shown unto him of which the proceedings is a true copy purporting to be the last will and testament of the said Henry Savage deceased bearing date the twenty eighth day of December one thousand seven hundred and ninety six and heard him publish and declare the same as and for his last will and testament and at the time thereof he the said Henry Savage was of a sound disposing mind and memory to the best of knowledge and belief of him the said deponent and that he together with John McNeal and Robert McCoy subscribed their names thereto as witness in the presence of the testator and in the presence of each other. The Preceding is a true copy of the original will of Henry Savage deceased of the certificate of the proof thereof and the letters testamenting thereon.
