He was the next youngest of seven boys. It appears that Sylvester chose to spell his last name with a double m, in order to differentiate between his father and him. Sylvester took Caroline Hardy (aka Kate) as his wife. She was the Daughter of Perry V. and Caroline Hardy. This marriage produced two children, a boy - Perry and a girl - Maud (possibly Maude). Sylvester Hemmans was a younger sibling to Frederick Hemans, my Great/great Grandfather.
