Starkweather Surrogate. "In the name of God, Amen. I Cornelius Sammons of the town of Springfield county of Otsego and State of New York being in the decline of years & considering the uncertainty of this mortal life but yet of sound mind & perfect memory blessed be Almighty God for the same to make & publish this my last will & testament in manner & form following (this is to say) First I give & bequeath unto my beloved wife Peggy Sammons all my personal property or estate consisting of stocks goods chattels & moveables of every kind whatsoever which I possess to her own free will benefit control & perfect disposal forever. And I further also give confirm & begries (?) th unto my aforesaid beloved wife all the profits use & income & rents of all my freehold estates lands & buildings which I possess to her own free use & voluntary disposal & control during the while of her natural life & no longer. I also give & devise unto my only son Francis Sammons his heirs & afsigns all that my mess??? Or tenements lands and buildings situate lying & being in the town of Springfield aforesaid or elsewhere together with all my other freehold estate whatsoever after the death of his beloved mother Peggy Sammons. Aforesaid to hold to him??? Francis Sammons his heirs & afsigns forever. And I also further give & bequesth to my only daughter Cynthia Gilbert wife of William B. Gilbert the sum of one dollars. I also give & bequeath unto my oldest grandson Cornelius Sammons the sum of twenty five dollars. And I give & bequeath to my second grandson Andrew Sammons the sum of twenty five dollars. And I further give & bequeath unto my beloved granddaughter Maranda Sammons the like sum of twenty five dollars which said several legacies(?) or sums of money I will & order shall be paid to the said respective Legat?? When they become of lawful age. And lastly I hereby appoint William B Gilbert and Davis Carroll of the aforesaid Springfield the only executors of this my last will & testament hereby revoking all former wills by me made.
