SAMUEL BREWSTER
War of 1812

BOUNTY LAND CLAIM
State of New York
County of Putnam
On this Sixth day of March A.D. one thousand eight hundred and fifty-one, 
personally appeared before me, JACOB O. HOWES, a Justice of the Peace, duly 
authorised to administer oaths within and for the County and State aforesaid, 
SAMUEL BREWSTER, aged sixty-four years, a resident of South East in the State of 
New York who being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is the 
identical SAMUEL BREWSTER who was an Ensign in the Company commanded by Captain 
AARON DECAMP in the eighty-third Regiment of Militia of Rockland County, 
commanded by BENJAMIN GURNEE in the war with Great Brittian Declared by the 
United States A.D. 1812, that he entered service at Tappan, NY, on or about the 
fifteenth day of August A.D. 1813 for the term of three months and continued in 
actual service in said war for the term of two months and was honorably 
discharged at New York on or about the fifteenth day of October A.D. 1813 on 
account of "my resignation being accepted by my superior officer" as will appear 
by "had no written discharge" the muster rolls of said Company.
He makes this declaration of the purpose of obtaining the bounty land to which 
he may be entitled under the act granting bounty land to certain officers and 
soldiers who have been engaged in the military service of the United States, 
passed September 28th, 1850.

Sworn to and subscribed before me the day and year above written. And I hereby 
certify, that I believe the said SAMUEL BREWSTER to be the identical man who 
served as aforesaid, and that he is of the age above stated.

the pension file of a completely different SAMUEL BREWSTER (of Orange Co., NY):
