Imprimis I will and order that in the first place that all my just Debts and funeral Charges be duly paid and satisfied by my Executors in some convenient time after my Decease. Item I give and bequeath unto Capt. Increas Carpenter Samil. Baylis Joseph Skidmore Elias Baylis Nicholas Smith and Samuel Danton the present Deacons and Elders of the English Presbyterian Congregation of Jamaica in Queens County in the Province of New York and to their Successors Deacons and Elders which shall forever hereafter be chosen in and for the said Congegation the sum of five pounds New York money the use whereof shall remain abide and be unto the said Deacons and Elders and their Successors for the time being to the only use benefit and behoof of the present Minister of the said Congregation and his Successors in all succeeding Ages in order for the upholding and maintaining a standing ministry in the said Congregation. Item I give and bequeath unto my loveing (sic) sister Deborah the now Wife of Peter Fredrick all my [wooling?] Cloaths of what Kind Soever and also my dark purple and white long Gown to her disposall immediately after my disceas and all the residue & remaining part of my Estate I give and bequeath unto my loving Cousins Phebee Higbie the daughter of my loving brother Samuel Higbie and to Phebie Fredrick the Daughter of Peter and Deborah Fredrick to be equally divided between them shear and shear alike which is to be put into the hands of my Executors hereafter named and kept and the money put out for their use, but if either of the above named Phebies die before they come of age or marry then in that Case the Survivor shall receive the whole and if the both Die before that time then in that Case their shear shall be equally divided between their Suviving Brothers and Sisters. Lastly I do nominate and appoint my uncle Nehemiah Carpenter Blacksmith whole and sole executor of this my last Will and Testament and I do own this and no other to be my last. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & Seal this nineteeth day of April one thousand seven hundred and sixty six. Be it Remembered that on the twenty ninth day of April one thousand seven hundred and Sixty Eight personally came and appeared fefore me Henry Dawson Surrogate of the said County Nicholas Smith and Samuel Smith of said County Yeomaen and being duly Sworn on their Oaths declared that they and each of them did see Phebee Higbie sign and Seal the within written Instrument purporting to be the Will of the said Phebee Higbie bearing date the Nineteenth day of April on thousand seven hundred and Sixty six And heard her publish and declare thsae a and for her last Will and Testament: That at the time thereof she the said Phebe Highbie was of sound disposing mind and memory to the best of the Knowledge and belief of them the Deponent, And that their Names be subscribed to the said Will are of their respective proper Hands writing which they subscribed as Witness to the Said Will in the Testators presence, And that they the Deponents saw Elizabeth Everitt the other Witness to the said Will, subscribe her Name as Witness thereto in the Testators presence. To all to whom these presents shall come or may concern Greeting Know Ye, that at Queens County on the twenty ninth day of April last before Henry Dawson Esquire thereunto delegated and appointed the last Will and Testament of Phebie Higbie deceased (a Copy whereof is hereunto [?] was proved and is now approved and allowed of by me, the said deceased having whilst She lived and at the time of her Death Goods Chattels and Credits within this Province by means whereof the proving and registring the said Will and the granting Administration of all and singular the said Goods Chattles and Credits and also the Auditing allowing and final discharging the Account thereof doth belong unto me And that Administration of all and singular of the Goods Chattels and Credits of the said Deceased and any way concerning her Will is granted unto Nehemiah Carpenter one of the Executors in the said Will named being first duly Sworn well and faithfully to Administer the same and to make and Exhibit a true and perfect Inventory of all and singular the said Goods Chattels and Credits and also to render a just and true Account thereof when thereunto required.
