P. McHUGH LEAPS FROM HOTEL WINDOW Drop of Five Stories at Troy (N.Y.) Fatal to Former Resident of Rutland, Vermont. Charles P. McHugh, aged 44 years, formerly of 217 State Street, this city, committed suicide yesterday morning by leaping from the fifth story window of the Hotel Trojan, Fourth avenue, Troy, N.Y. His act was seen by a number of passersby. He was taken to the Troy City hospital where he died about an hour later. His body was removed to the Lowell & Bryce Undertaking rooms. Chief of Police Bert S. Hyland received a telegram from the chief at Troy informing him of the action of Mr.McHugh, who gave his residence at 217 State street, Rutland. Investigation by the Rutland police department disclosed that Mr. McHugh lived at the house designated until three weeks ago when he left this city. He is survived by his wife, who was located last evening in Fair Haven, (Vermont) by a representative of The Herald, and she said that she had been informed of her husband's act. She said that some difficulties arose between Mr. McHugh and herself while they were living at 217 State Street and that they agreed to separate and she left for Fair Haven to reside. She had not heard from him since they parted and could give no reason why he should take his life. Mr. McHugh resided in Rutland about seven years and up to that time he left the city he was employed as a bed rubber by the Clarendon Marble company in West Rutland. He was born in Weybridge, Vt. He is survived by a brother, Dennis McHugh of Middlebury, Vt.
