The people of the state of New York by the grace of God free and independent to all to whom these presents shall come, or my concernsence greeting. Know ye, that at Lansing burg in the County of Rensselaer, on the twenty fourth day of September in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and fourteen, before David Allen Esquire Surrogate of our said County, the last will and testament of William Shepard, late of the town of Pittstown in the County of Rensselaer and State of New York deceased, a copy thereof is hereunto annexed, was proved and is now approved and allowed by us: and the said deceased, having whilst he lived and at the time of his death, goods, chattels or credits within this state, (by means whereof, the proving of registering the said will and the granting administration all and singular the said goods, chattels and credits, and also the auditing allowing of final discharging the account thereof, doth belong to us: the administration of all and singular the good, chattels and credits of the said deceased, and any way concerning his will, is granted unto Israel Shepard one of the Executors in the said Will named, he being first duly sworn will and faithfully to administer the same and to make and exhibit a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the said good, chattels and credits and also to render a just and true account thereof when thereunto required - In Testimony whereof we have caused the seal of Office of our said Surrogate to be hereunto affixed. Witness David Allen Esquire Surrogate of the said County, at Lansing burgh, the twenty fourth day of September in the year of our Lord, One thousand eight hundred of fourteen. David Allen Will: In the name of God Amen, I William Shepard of Pittstown in the County of Rensselaer and State of New York considering the uncertainty of this mortal life and being of sound and perfect mind and memory blessed be Almighty God for the same to make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say first I give and divise unto my only son Israel Shepard his heirs and assigns forever all my real estate lying in Pittstown and Woods except a piece of land where the burying ground is beginning on rod south of the southeast corner thereof from thence westwardly and northwardly so as to contain one acre of land which I reserve for a public burying place and also a strip of land two rods wide from the east side of said burying ground to the highway that runs north and south. I also give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary Wilcox the wife of David Wilcox the sum of one hundred dollars and as to all the rest, residue and remainder of my personal estate I give and bequeath the same to my four children to be equally divided between them that is to say Elenor Martin, Israel Shepard, Mary Wilcox and Anna Clapp, which several gifts and legacies I will and desire should be paid by my executors herein after named within three months after my decease and lastly I hereby appoint my son Israel Shepard and my son in law Barnabus Clapp sole executors to this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills by and made ratifying this and this only to be my last will and testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my land and seal the second day of December in the year of our Lord, one thousand eighth hundred and twelve. Fostwick Jr. on of the subscribing witnesses to the will of William Shepard late of the town of Pittstown in the said County deceased; who being duly sworn, declared that he did see the said William Shepard, seal of execute the written instrument of which the annexed is a copy, purporting to be the last will and testament of the said William, leaving date the second day of December in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and twelve and heard him publish and declare the same as and for his last will and testament, that at the time thereof he the best of the knowledge and belief of the said Robert S. and that he the said Robert S. together with Jarah Baker and John Clapp, the other witnesses to the said will, severally subscribed this hand and names to the said will, as witnesses thereto, in the presence of the testator and of each other: David Allen
