RICHARD KNEELEY, 63 Transit employee enjoyed time with his daughter Saturday, October 29, 2005 Annadale resident Richard Kneeley, 63, a retired city Transit Authority worker, died Wednesday in Staten Island University Hospital, Prince's Bay. An autopsy is being performed to determine the cause of his death. Born in Brooklyn, he moved to Ozone Park, Queens, in 1972 after marrying the former Linda D'Angelo. The couple settled in Annadale in 1987. Mr. Kneeley worked throughout the five boroughs for the city Transit Authority before retiring in 1995. He was also a partner in Arden Fundraising Inc., a family business founded in 1996. The organization raises money for local elementary schools. According to his family, Mr. Kneeley loved his daughter, Andrea Kneeley -- his only child -- with all his heart and enjoyed the time they spent together. He liked to work, go to OTB and watch his favorite baseball team, the New York Mets. In addition to his wife of 33 years, Linda, and his daughter Andrea, Mr. Kneeley is survived by his brother, Michael. The funeral arrangements are being handled by the Hanley Funeral Home, New Dorp. RALPH ROSA, 51 Contractor enjoyed going to gym, fishing, boating Saturday, October 29, 2005 Ralph Rosa, 51, a retired contractor, died Wednesday in Staten Island University Hospital, Prince's Bay. Born in Brooklyn, he lived there for 31 years before moving to Annadale in 1985. Mr. Rosa was a self-employed contractor for 20 years. He retired in 2001. A graduate of Brooklyn Preparatory High School, he attended the former Staten Island Community College. Mr. Rosa liked to go to the gym and enjoyed fishing and boating. "If anybody needed help he would always be there," said his wife, the former Paula Basini, of his giving personality. In addition to his wife of 23 years, Mr. Rosa is survived by his two daughters, Elizabeth and Jessica Rosa; his parents, Salvatore and Lina Rosa, and a sister, Nancy Falcone. The funeral will be Monday from the Casey-McCallum-Rice South Shore Funeral Home, with a mass at 11 a.m. in St. Clare's R.C. Church, both Great Kills. NENA PARKER, 65 Nurse's assistant loved to trave, create ceramics Saturday, October 29, 2005 Nena Parker, 65, of New Brighton, a retired nurse's assistant, died Wednesday in her daughter's West Brighton home. She had battled stomach cancer for four months. Born Nena Williams in Manhattan, she was raised in Opa Locka, Fla., where she graduated from high school. In 1964, she relocated to Coney Island, Brooklyn, and she settled in New Brighton in 1980. For nearly 15 years, Ms. Parker worked at the former Willowbrook State School as a nurse's assistant. She helped mentally challenged 11th-graders before retiring in 1989. Ms. Parker was the secretary of the Cassidy-Lafayette Tenants Association and was also a member of the Cassidy-Coles Senior Center, both New Brighton. She enjoyed traveling to the Poconos, Virginia and Maryland -- some of her favorite places, her family said. Ms. Parker's five children, 20 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren all agreed that she was the most wonderful person in the world because of her easygoing nature. "She was an easy person to talk to," said her daughter, Darlene Murphy. Ms. Parker also enjoyed making and painting ceramics, walking on the beach and playing bingo. While living in Brooklyn, she was a member of the Coney Island Gospel Assembly. "She was a lovely, lovely woman," her daughter added. In addition to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her daughter, Darlene, Ms. Parker is survived by her daughter, Dawn Best, and her three sons, Warren, David and Arthur Irving Parker. The funeral service is scheduled for today at 10 a.m. in the Scamardella Funeral Home, West Brighton. Burial will follow in Silver Mount Cemetery, Silver Lake. KELLEY BUTTS, 25 Poet met fiance while working at MJ's Supper Club Saturday, October 29, 2005 Kelley Ann Butts, 25, a rising poet, died yesterday of a viral liver infection at Staten Island University Hospital, Prince's Bay. Born in Manhattan, Miss Butts grew up in Great Kills. She was a 1997 graduate of Moore Catholic High School, Graniteville, and took classes to be a fitness trainer and an emergency medical technician. Miss Butts worked for three years at the former MJ's Supper Club in Richmond Valley. She met her fiance of two years, Patrick Senatori, while employed in the club's coat check. "She was working and Patrick was a customer. He continued to come in regularly and they hit it off," said her mother, Elizabeth Meems. The couple had been engaged for two years. Miss Butts also volunteered her time as a worker at the World Trade Center site after Sept. 11, 2001. She loved to write poetry and, according to her family, wrote the poem that former Mayor Rudolph Giuliani read to the nation in tribute of the 9/11 attacks. In addition to her mother, Elizabeth, and her fiance, Patrick, Miss Butts is survived by her two brothers, Christopher and Michael Butts; her father, Christopher Butts, and her maternal grandmother, Virginia Meems. JENNIE STEFFEN, 91 Mets fan liked to take long, daily walks Saturday, October 29, 2005 Jennie Steffen, 91, a retired airline receptionist, died yesterday at her home in Eltingville. Born Jennie LaRose in Providence, R.I., she was brought to Union City, N.J., as an infant and attended high school there. For 25 years, Ms. Steffen worked as a receptionist for American Airlines at what is now Newark (N.J.) Liberty International Airport. She retired 30 years ago, settling in Eltingville to live with her son, Peter, and her daughter-in-law, Marion (Cookie) Steffen. A New York Mets fan for many years, she watched every televised game. Ms. Steffen loved to play bingo, and took monthly trips to Atlantic City, where she celebrated her 91st birthday. She also liked to crochet, read novels and solve crossword puzzles. Long, daily walks to the grocery store were a favorite. "She was very happy, giving and loving," said her daughter-in-law. "She was everybody's Nanny." Ms. Steffen was a parishioner of St. Clare's R.C. Church, Great Kills. In addition to her son, Peter, surviving are her son, Charles; 10 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. FRANK BRUNETT, 62 Retired repairman enjoyed hunting, fishing Saturday, October 29, 2005 Frank J. Brunett, 62, an avid hunter and fisherman, died of a rare brain disease Wednesday in Alterra Clare Bridge, an assisted living community in Jupiter, Fla., where he had resided for nine months. Born in Brooklyn, he moved to Annadale in 1972. Mr. Brunett enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and spent four years stationed between Maine and Long Island. While in the service, he finished high school. He worked as a repairman for 27 years for the former Brooklyn Union Gas on Staten Island. He retired in 1997. "My husband was a plumbing repairman and had many customers who loved him. He taught his nephew, Lenny, everything he knew about plumbing," said Mr. Brunett's wife, the former Louise Tusa. He also enjoyed hunting deer upstate with his nephew. Mr. Brunett also was an avid fisherman and enjoyed going fishing in Florida with his son, Frank L., and his brother-in-law, Lenny. "My fondest memory was the time we went on a fishing trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, for my 30th birthday," said his son. "It was the first time he ever got seasick out on the water." In addition to his wife of 38 years, Louise, and his son, Frank L., Mr. Brunett is survived by two brothers, Robert and Reggie. Burial will follow in Ocean View Cemetery, Oakwood. EVELYN BARIDON, 83 Longtime Grant City resident liked to read, garden Saturday, October 29, 2005 Evelyn H. Baridon, 83, of Grant City, a former telephone operator and retired bank clerk, died Thursday in Staten Island University Hospital, Ocean Breeze. Born in Manhattan in 1922, Ms. Baridon settled in Grant City in 1926. She was a telephone operator for the former New York Telephone Co. in New Dorp before becoming a clerk for Bank of America in Manhattan. She worked there for 30 years before retiring in the 1980s. A member of a Staten Island chapter of the AARP, Ms. Baridon enjoyed reading and gardening. She was a member of New Dorp Moravian Church. The funeral service will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the Richmond Funeral Home, Grant City. Arrangements include cremation. DIANE CORBO, 49 Attorney loved to spend time with nieces, nephews Saturday, October 29, 2005 Lifelong Staten Islander Diane C. Corbo, 49, of Arrochar, an attorney, died yesterday in Staten Island University Hospital, Ocean Breeze. Born in New Dorp, Ms. Corbo graduated from New Dorp High School in 1974. She went on to graduate from Lafayette College, Easton Pa., in 1978 with a bachelor of arts degree in history. In 1981, Ms. Corbo received her law degree from New York Law School and opened her own practice, dealing with estates and wills, in New Dorp. At the time of her death she was still working in her Concord office -- where she had moved her practice last summer. She settled in Arrochar in 1986. In her leisure time, Ms. Corbo enjoyed reading, cooking -- particularly minestrone soup -- and spending time with her nieces and nephews. Surviving are her companion of nine and a half years, Lucille Friscia; two brothers, Paschal A. and Stephan R., and two sisters, Lucia C. Taylor and Kathryn M. Gallo. The funeral will be Monday from the Hanley Funeral Home with a mass at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady Queen of Peace R.C. Church, both New Dorp. Burial will follow in Moravian Cemetery, also New Dorp.
