A page 320 Written: August 26, 1810 Jacob Ten Eyck's will, August 26, 1810 In the name of God Amen I Jacob Ten Eyck of Hampstead in the County of Rockland and State of New York yeoman being weak in body but of sound and perfect disposing mind and memory Do make this present writing to be my last will and Testament. First I Do resign my soul to God in Hope of a joyful Resurrection to Eternal life thro the merits of his son Jesus Christ my Redeemer, and my body to the earth to be Decently buried at the discretion of my friends and Executors And as to my worldly Estate with which it has pleased God to bless me I do dispose of as follows My will is and I do order that all of my just debts and funeral expenses be first paid out of my personal estate by my executors I do give and bequeath to my loving wife Rachel the issues and profits of my real estate for and during her widowhood or so much thereof as she may deem necessary for her Maintenance and also the use of the residue of my personal Estate or so much thereof as she may think proper During her widowhood she making no unnecessary wast thereof. Item I do give devise and bequeath unto my two sons Joshua Ten Eyck and John Ten Eyck as tenants in Common all the lands tenements and premises I may die siezed (sic) of to them the said Joshua Ten Eyck and John Ten Eyck and their heirs and assigns forever to be divided equally between them likewise all my personal Estate except my Household furniture, to be divided as aforesaid Except John is to have the choice of one horse over and above his half which he may take immediately after my decease Item I do give and bequeath to my Daughter Mary the wife of George Trumper one Hundred Dollars. Item I do give and bequeath to my Daughter Betsey the wife of Joseph Conklin one Hundred Dollars. Item I do give and bequeath to my Daughter Rachel the wife of Benjamin Jones on Hundred Dollars. Item I do give and bequeath to my Daughter Anna the wife of Benjamin Jarkes on Hundred Dollars. Item I do give and bequeath to my Daughter Phebe the wife of Joseph Green one Hundred Dollars All which legacies are to be paid at the decease of my wife by my Executors hereafter named and as to my Daughter Sally she being very infirm and its probable she will never be able to provide for herself I do order and that she be decently maintained by my sons Joshua and John During her life unless she should mary (sic) in which case they shall not be bound to maintain her and may make her such other allowance as they may see fit All which charges (?) Maintenance shall be born equally by my two sons aforesaid. And further I Do order and Direct that all the household furniture that shall remain after my said wifes decease shall be Divided between my five Daughters first Mentioned share and share alike, and lastly I do Appoint my loving wife Rachel my Executrix and my two sons Joshua and John Executors of this my Last will and Testament.
