Schenectady Daily Evening Star, Friday, April 16, 1869
DEATH OF A REVOLUTIONARY CHARACTER - Charles Neilson, author of the history 
entitled "Burgoyne's Campaign," died suddenly at Bemis Heights, Saratoga 
county, on Friday afternoon last, in the eighty-second year of his age.   He 
lived and died in the same house in which his father resided during the 
memorable battles of the revolution which occurred in that vicinity.  A 
portion of the house was occupied by Gen. Poor as his headquarters.  Many 
visitors to the battle ground will recollect the kind hospital treatment which 
they received at the hands of Mr. Neilson.  He was the last man in the 
neighborhood of Bemis Heights who associated with the soldiers of the 
revolution.  He leaves behind him a large number of descendants. - Greenwich 
(Wash. Co.) Journal.
